Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tronoen over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Tronoen over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, and for the first week and a bit, it’s pretty quiet. We’ve got a stretch from now through to around July 19th where there’s barely a ripple worth paddling for. The swell’s tiny, mostly under 2ft, with short-period chop, and the wind’s usually onshore or cross-on. There’s a few glassy moments on the morning of the 14th and again on the 18th, but the combined swell energy’s weak (37 and 20), so it’s flat in the water. Nothing to get excited about.
Then things start to shift around the 19th. Sunday the 19th afternoon sees a bump up to 6ft from the WNW, but the period’s a short 6 seconds and the wind is a fresh cross-onshore. Combined energy is moderate at 228, but the conditions are lumpy. Not really a goer for surfing – more like a kite day if you’re into that.
Monday the 20th kicks off with 6ft WNW swell, period 7 seconds, light cross-onshore, and energy at 362. Still only a marginal call, with the wind messing it up. Not worth rushing.
Now, Tuesday the 21st is where it gets interesting. Early morning we’ve got a solid 8ft NW groundswell rolling in, with a period of 9 seconds. The wind is a clean cross-off from the ESE, and the combined energy is a strong 996. Tronoen is an exposed spot and looks best with swell from WSW, but NW is still gonna push in. At 8ft, this is expert territory – too big for beginners. If you’re up for it, the morning session is the call.
Wednesday the 22nd still has good energy, with 5ft NW swell in the morning, period 8 seconds, and a light cross-off from the SE. Clean conditions, combined energy at 363. Solid intermediate-level surf.
After that, it drops off again. Thursday the 23rd into the weekend looks small and onshore, with poor conditions. Friday the 24th morning has a brief glassy moment with 2ft WNW swell and a long 9-second period, but combined energy’s low at 84 – barely surfable.
Overall, the standout window is Tuesday the 21st morning – that’s the one to circle. Big, powerful NW swell with clean wind. After that, Wednesday holds decent waves, then it fades. Water temp anomaly isn’t given, so I can’t tell if it’s warmer or cooler than usual, but given the overall pattern, it’s probably about average for July.
So, get your big board ready for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. The rest is a waiting game.
Rusty.
