Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s on the cards for Tronoen.
Right now, there’s a real flat spell in the water. The first few days are pretty ordinary, with tiny 2ft swell from the WNW, and the energy is weak. Wednesday the 8th of July morning shows a glassy window with a bit more energy, but it’s still small at 2ft. The water temp is sitting at 64°, which is about 1° warmer than average for this time of year – not a big deal, just a touch on the mild side.
Thursday the 9th through Saturday the 11th sees the swell holding around 3ft to 3ft, with energy building up on Saturday morning. Winds are mostly cross-off or light, so the surf will be clean, but the size is still tiny – really just something for a longboard or a funboard. Nothing to get excited about.
Then from Sunday the 12th onwards, we get a strong offshore wind on the morning, but the swell is dropping fast to 2ft and then 0.7ft by Monday. That’s a real flat patch. Tuesday the 14th picks up a longer period groundswell (12 seconds) from the west, but it’s only 1ft – no juice.
The next real pulse comes around Thursday the 16th afternoon, with moderate wave energy and 3ft from the west, but it’s onshore wind so the quality is poor. Friday the 17th sees the swell building to 5ft, but again, cross-onshore winds spoil it.
Now, the standout window arrives on Saturday the 18th. The morning has 7ft swell from the west with moderate cross-shore wind and strong energy. That’s a solid, powerful swell, but it’s going to be a bit rough and choppy – better for experienced surfers only, as 7ft is getting up there. But the real prize is waiting for Monday the 20th morning. The swell is 7ft from the WNW, energy is strong, wind is light from the ESE – that’s cross-offshore, creating clean, lined-up waves. That’s the best of the whole run: smooth, powerful, and all to yourself if the crowds stay low.
Tuesday the 21st morning brings the biggest swell of the period – 8ft from the WNW with energy hitting nearly a thousand. It’s clean with cross-off wind, but at that size, it’s expert territory. The period is 9 seconds, so it’s a mid-period groundswell with good shape but a bit of a gap between sets.
Overall, it’s a slow start, but the second week picks up. The real highlight is Monday the 20th morning – get on it if you can. The big 8ft on Tuesday the 21st is for the brave.
Stay stoked,
Rusty
