Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tronoen over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a good hard look at what’s coming our way for Tronoen. We’ve got a real mixed bag over the next two and a half weeks, and to be straight with you, the standout windows are pretty scarce. There’s a significant gap of several days at the start with nothing worth paddling for, and another similar quiet spell coming up.
Things kick off today, Wednesday 8th July morning. We’ve got a tiny 2ft swell rolling in from the WNW with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy is weak (101), so it’s not exactly firing. However, it’s glassy – only a 3 mph SSE breeze – which will keep the surface smooth. It’s surfable, but very ordinary is the word. The water temp here is about average for the time of year, nothing out of the ordinary. After that, the afternoon goes straight downhill with a strong 15 mph cross-shore wind ruining the 2ft surf.
Thursday 9th July morning offers a slight bump to 3ft from the WNW (period 10 seconds, energy 132), with a light NE cross-offshore breeze keeping it clean. It’s still just surfable, not great. The rest of the week and the weekend fizzle out into very small, poor conditions with onshore or strong winds. Saturday morning the 11th gives us a clean 2ft with a 12 mph ENE offshore, but the energy is low (114) – okay for a longboard if you’re desperate.
Now, let’s talk about the only real event on the horizon. It’s not until Friday 17th July. We see a sudden pulse of swell, jumping to 6ft from the WSW. The period is short, around 8 seconds, but the combined energy jumps all the way up to 355 – that’s moderate to strong energy and the biggest we’ll see. Unfortunately, it’s greeted by a strong 15 mph WNW cross-onshore wind, making it choppy and messy. This is definitely one for experienced surfers only, as it’s over 5ft and with that wind, it’ll be a battle. For kite surfers, that wind and wave setup might look more appealing.
The trough after that leaves us with wind-affected, small waves through the 18th and 19th. Then, on Wednesday 22nd July, another pulse arrives. Wednesday morning sees 7ft from the WNW (8 seconds, energy a hefty 472), but it’s pinned by a 22 mph onshore wind. Again, big, powerful, but ugly. Only for the experts and the dedicated.
Honestly, if you’re looking for a clean, fun session, this period is a tough one. Keep an eye on the morning of the 9th or 11th for the cleanest conditions, but don’t expect much push. The bigger swells are there, but they’re getting hammered by the wind. That’s the call from here.
Rusty.
