The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here with the full picture for the next couple of weeks. It’s gonna be a slow start, but there are a couple of days that are going to be proper good.
The first few days are just a waste of time. We’ve got small, weak waves and no clean lines. The swell energy is low, in the 300s and even down to 87 at times. Winds are cross-off but there’s just nothing to push around. You can stay at home until things get sorted.
Thursday the 20th has a little more push with waves around 2ft, but it’s still ordinary. Not worth the drive. Friday the 21st starts to get a little more interesting. We’re looking at 2ft waves, but the energy picks up to the 400s and 500s. The wind turns gentle offshore, which will clean things up. It’s small, but there’s a good feel to it.
Now, for the big one: Saturday the 22nd. This is the day. The swell cranks up to over 11ft overnight. The energy reading is a massive 8020, so there’s a ton of power. This is a serious, expert-only swell. The wind is a strong cross-off, and conditions will be raw. The morning looks the best, with the swell easing to about 7ft in the afternoon but still strong. This is a day for the experienced crew only.
Sunday the 23rd is your best bet for quality. The swell drops to around 5ft, which is still a decent size, but the energy is still solid. The wind dies off completely, and we get glassy conditions. This is going to be clean, lined-up, and perfect. A proper standout day for sure.
The next few days after that see things settle down. Monday the 24th is a fun, clean 3-4ft day with light offshore winds. Good for a session. Tuesday the 25th is similar, a bit smaller, with waves in the 3ft range. It’s cruisy and clean, but not one for the memory banks.
Looking ahead to Friday the 28th, there’s another pulse of energy coming through. We’re looking at 4ft+ waves with a strong offshore wind. It could be good, but it’s over a week away, so I wouldn’t lock it in just yet. The forecast might change.
After that, it’s all downhill. The winds go onshore and the surf gets lumpy and messy. The start of September looks small and average, nothing to get excited about.
So, to sum it up: Saturday the 22nd is for the big dogs, and Sunday the 23rd is your day for clean, quality waves. Don’t miss that window because the rest of the week is pretty quiet.
Rusty.
