Playa San Pedro Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. The next 16 days at Playa San Pedro are a tough pill to swallow. Truth is, the surf is looking pretty poor across the entire period, with no real options to get excited about. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, wind-affected slop.

The first few days are a write-off. From Friday the 7th through to at least the 11th, the swell is tiny, mostly under 2ft, and it’s coming in with a cross-onshore wind. The wave energy is weak, sitting at just 134 on Friday morning and dropping to nothing by the weekend. It’s a classic case of small, choppy, and uninviting. The water is a touch warmer than normal at 84°F for the time of year, but that’s little comfort when there’s nothing to ride.

We then hit a real dead zone. From Monday the 10th through to Wednesday the 12th, there are days with zero combined energy. Just flat, nothing. It’s a grim run.

There is a glimmer of something on Thursday the 13th. The swell picks up to 3ft from the SW, and the period jumps to 16 seconds – that’s proper groundswell energy. The combined energy hits 368, which is moderate. But the wind is cross-onshore from the WNW, keeping it messy. The guides are calling it poor surf conditions, and honestly, for a beach break, that long period groundswell will likely just make it fat and difficult to find a good peak. It’s a tease.

That swell hangs around into Friday the 14th, with a similar 3ft swell from the SW and a 15-second period, with energy even higher at 447. The wind is lighter, a cross-on from the W at 6 mph. Still, it’s not clean, and the surf quality rating is zero. It’s frustrating because the swell is there, but the conditions are just not cooperating.

After that, it’s back to small, weak windswell or flat spells for the rest of the second week. There’s a moment on the afternoon of Tuesday the 18th where the wind goes glassy, but the swell is a pathetic 1ft. Nothing to work with.

So, the honest truth is, there are no standouts here. The best window is the 13th and 14th of August, but even that is let down by the wind. If you’re desperate, you might find a crumbly wave, but don’t expect any quality. This is one of those stretches where the forecast is just a blank run for the area. Keep your eyes on it, things can change, but for now, I’d find something else to do.
