The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming down the pipe for Little Beach.
We're kicking off the run with a bit of a slow start, but don't let that fool you. The first few days are small, but the conditions are looking sweet. Saturday the 18th starts with a tiny 1ft SSE swell. The morning is a bit ordinary, but by the afternoon the wind goes glassy, dead calm, and the water is clean as a whistle. The combined energy is moderate (200). The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
Sunday the 19th is a step up. We've got a 3ft S swell with a period of 12 seconds, giving it some nice shape. The wind stays glassy in the morning, and the same for the afternoon. The energy is building, sitting at 324. It's small, but it's clean and fun.
Now, Monday the 20th through Tuesday the 21st is where it starts to get interesting for the longboarders and funboard crew. The swell bumps up to a consistent 4ft from the NE. The period is a solid 11 seconds, which is proper groundswell. The wind is glassy both afternoons, and the mornings are clean. The energy is moderate, hitting 413 on Monday morning. This is the best on offer for the first week, honestly. It's clean, consistent, and the wind is playing ball.
Things get a bit messy from Wednesday the 22nd, with cross-off winds and a drop in energy. The swell drops back to 3ft and 3ft, and the energy falls to 126. It's surfable, but nothing to write home about. The wind stays offshore or cross-off, so it's still clean, but it loses its spark.
The real standout, the one you've been waiting for, is the end of the month. Tuesday the 28th of July sees the energy jump to 634 in the afternoon, with a 3ft S swell at 15 seconds. That's long-period groundswell, which means long, powerful lines. The wind is moderate offshore, and the surf is clean. Wednesday the 29th is even better. The swell hits 4ft with a 14-second period, and the energy is pumping at 595 in the morning and 704 in the afternoon. The wind is light offshore, glassy conditions. That's the pick of the run right there.
But hold on to your board, because Thursday the 30th of July is for experts only. That swell rockets up to 16ft from the S. The energy is a massive 4666. That's a serious, powerful swell. The wind is cross-off and strong. This is not for the faint of heart. Friday the 31st of July, the swell drops to 10ft, but the wind goes glassy in the morning. The energy is still huge at 1888. The conditions are excellent for experienced surfers, but it's still big, powerful stuff.
The first week of August has a decent swell, 4ft to 7ft, but the wind is cross or cross-off, so it's a bit more of a challenge. The energy is still solid, hitting 801 on the 1st of August afternoon.
So, to sum it up: the best on offer for the next two weeks is that window from Monday the 20th to Tuesday the 21st for the smaller, clean stuff, and then the absolute standout is Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th of July. That's your window. Get on it.
Rusty.
