Table - best surf conditions forecast for Les Dunes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s break it down in feet and knots.
So, the picture is pretty grim for the next couple of weeks. There’s a tiny window early on, and then a bigger swell way late, but mostly you’re looking at a flat spell. The only joint we’re watching is Les Dunes. It’s a beginner beach, facing west-southwest. Water temps are sitting at 71°F, which is a good 5°F warmer than normal for this time of year – nice and warm.
The only real chance to get wet this week is Monday morning, July 13th. We’ve got a 4ft swell from the west, with a light north breeze making it cross-offshore. The combined energy is moderate at 120, so there’s some bump. The period is short though, about 6 seconds, so the waves will be a bit slow and soft. It might be a touch big for a total beginner, so be careful.
From Monday afternoon all the way through Sunday, July 26th, it’s flat and messy. Lots of onshore wind, lots of chop, and hardly any swell – we’re talking about ankle-snappers at best. There’s a couple of glassy moments, but with nothing to ride, it doesn’t matter. It’s a long, boring stretch.
Now, for the far-out stuff. Late in the month, around Monday, July 27th and Tuesday, July 28th, the swell really fires up. We’re talking 5ft to 7ft from the west, with combined energy hitting 382 and even 742 on Tuesday afternoon. That’s a lot of water moving. But the wind is a killer – it’s blowing straight onshore from the west and southwest at 12-18 knots. It’s going to be a washing machine out there at this beach break. That size is for experienced folks only, and with that wind, honestly, it looks better for a kite than a surfboard.
No real standouts. The Monday morning July 13th window is your only shot, and it’s nothing special. The late swell has power but no clean conditions. That’s the deal.
Rusty.
