Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Let’s start with the only real highlight: Les Dunes. On Saturday morning, July 4th, it’s clean with a light offshore breeze from the NE at 10 km/h. Swell comes in at 0.9m from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds – that’s a nice groundswell, good shape but will have longer waits between sets. The combined energy is moderate at 180. Water temp is 21°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, so you’ll be comfortable in a spring suit or even a shortie. The break is fairly consistent and works best with a WSW wind, but the offshore NE will have it looking pretty tidy. Crowds are possible here sometimes, but on a day like this, it might be worth a look.
Saturday afternoon, the wind shifts NW at 30 km/h and goes cross-shore, making things lumpy. The swell drops to 0.7m from the W. Not worth hanging around for.
Sunday morning, July 5th, is clean again with a light ENE offshore at 10 km/h, but swell is only 0.7m from the WNW and the energy is weak at 85. Surfable but very ordinary.
From Sunday afternoon right through to Saturday, July 11th, it’s all poor surf conditions – tiny swells, mostly under 0.5m, with cross or onshore winds. The combined energy stays under 100 most of the time. Not much to report.
On Sunday morning, July 12th, there’s a bit of a pulse: 0.9m from the WNW, but a short period of 7 seconds and a moderate cross-onshore wind from the W at 20 km/h. Energy climbs to 115, but the wind messes it up. Not a goer.
Tuesday afternoon, July 14th, sees the biggest swell of the whole run: 1.1m from the WNW with a 10-second period and strong energy at 381. But the wind is cross-onshore from the WNW at 25 km/h, so it’s messy and lumpy. That’s a shame – could have been something with cleaner conditions.
After that, it drops back to tiny, poor surf through to Sunday, July 19th. The morning of Thursday, July 16th offers a brief moment with 0.5m from the W, light cross-offshore NNW wind, clean – but it’s really small. Saturday morning, July 18th bumps up to 0.8m from the W with moderate energy at 121, but again cross-shore wind from the NW spoils it.
Overall, the only session that stands out is Saturday morning, July 4th at Les Dunes. After that, it’s a long dry spell. If you’re itching for a paddle, that’s your window – don’t expect much else.
