Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kilcummin Harbour over the next 16 days.
Right folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Kilcummin Harbour over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a pretty bleak start. We’re looking at a solid run of nothing much for the first week and a half. The surf is flat to tiny, and even when there’s a little bump, the conditions are just poor. It’s a real struggle to find a wave worth paddling for. The water temperature is sitting at 60°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t be freezing while you’re sitting there waiting.
The first real sign of life doesn’t show up until Monday, July 21st. The morning sees a little 3ft west-northwest swell creep in, with light cross-offshore winds from the west-southwest keeping things clean. The combined energy is moderate (197), so there’s a bit of push, but it’s still pretty small. Not a standout, just a glimmer of hope after a long, dry spell.
Things start to build on Tuesday, July 22nd. The swell pushes up to 4ft in the afternoon, with a westerly wind keeping it cross-shore. The energy jumps to moderate (263), but it’s still not great. The wind swings around to a strong southwesterly on Wednesday, July 23rd, with 4ft swell and cross-offshore winds keeping it clean. The wave energy is moderate (186-172). It’s rideable, but not the kind of day you’d call in sick for.
The real standout, and the only one worth getting excited about, is Monday, July 27th. The afternoon session is the pick of the forecast. You’ve got a clean 5ft west-northwest swell with a gentle offshore breeze from the south. The wind is clean, the combined energy is a solid moderate (349), and it’s the first time the forecast actually says "expect good surf conditions." This is the one to circle. It’s a reef break that’s fairly consistent, but it can get crowded sometimes, so keep that in mind.
Tuesday, July 28th, isn’t a write-off either. The morning keeps a 5ft west swell with a moderate offshore wind from the south. The energy is moderate (365), but it’s pushing into the 5ft+ range, which might be a bit much for beginners. The afternoon drops to 6ft, but the wind swings more cross-offshore.
So, the scorecard: there’s a long, dead gap for the first 10 days. The only real window is from the 27th of July into the 28th. The 27th afternoon is your best bet for clean, fun, manageable waves. The 28th morning is a good alternative, but it’s a bit more powerful. After that, it looks like it fades again.
Rusty out.
