Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kilcummin Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next sixteen days.
It’s not a classic stretch. There’s a short, clean window early on, then a long dry spell that lasts over a week and a half. The best surf is right at the start.
The standout is Wednesday morning, July 8th, at Kilcummin Harbour. This is a reef break, so it needs the right swell direction. We’ve got a clean 1.4m west swell, with a 9-second period, and a light offshore breeze from the SSW. That’s going to give you clean, lined-up faces. The water temp is 59°F, about average for this time of year. The combined swell energy is moderate at 347. Crowds can be an issue here sometimes, but for the area, this is the session to aim for.
Thursday morning, July 9th, is also a good call. Same size, 1.4m from the west, with another light offshore wind from the SSW. Clean and rideable, with moderate energy at 319. The afternoon holds up OK, but the wind turns a bit cross-off.
Then it falls apart. Friday, July 10th, the wind turns onshore from the north and it’s all downhill. From Saturday, July 11th, all the way through to Tuesday, July 22nd, it’s mostly small, weak, and messy. There’s a huge gap with nothing worth paddling for. Wave heights barely hit 1.0m (just over 3 ft), and the combined energy drops into double digits most days.
There’s one slight glimmer on Wednesday morning, July 22nd – a 1.0m west swell, 8-second period, clean with a cross-off wind. The energy is moderate at 129, but it’s only just surfable. Nothing else in that second week is worth a mention.
Get it while you can this week, because after that it’s a long wait.
Rusty.
