The Lowdown
Alright, let’s run through it in feet and miles per hour.
The start of this 16-day window is a total bust. There is no surf to speak of for the first few days, just flat or tiny, messy conditions. From Sunday the 16th right through to the morning of Friday the 21st, it’s all small, weak, and mostly onshore – not worth wetting a suit. A lot of days with nothing going on.
The single standout session is Friday morning, the 21st, at Khalaktyrsky Beach. The swell is coming from the south at 8ft, with a combined energy reading of 1195 – that’s a lot of power. The period is short, around 8 seconds, but the wind will be a clean cross-off from the west at about 9 mph. That 8ft is big, expert-only territory. This break is exposed to the south swell, and the direction matches the guidance optimum, so it should line up well. Crowds are never a problem here.
After that, it drops right back off. The next noteworthy pulse is on Tuesday the 25th, in the afternoon, where we see a 7ft south-southeast swell with strong energy (865). The wind is a cross-off from the west-northwest at around 13 mph. Again, that’s a big, powerful wave for experienced surfers only. The rest of the window from the 26th through the 31st is mostly poor, with small swell and onshore or cross-shore winds. Monday the 31st has clean cross-off winds, but the swell is only a tiny 3ft – not enough to bother.
So, it’s one big Friday and one big Tuesday for the experts, and that’s your lot.
