Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright, this is Rusty comin' to ya with a look at what’s on the cards for Jacks Point over the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but there are definitely some windows to keep an eye on.

We start off with a bit of a slow burn. Tuesday the 7th is the first chance, but it’s nothing to write home about. We're looking at a 5ft swell from the SE with a short 8-second period, and a moderate 12 mph cross-off wind from the SW. The energy is weak, only 268 (combined swell energy), and it’s being called marginal. The water temp anomaly is not flagged as notable, so it’s pretty average for this time of year around here.

Tuesday afternoon picks up a tiny bit with a 5ft swell from the SSE, but that period is still a gangly 7 seconds. The energy bumps up to 461 (moderate wave energy), and the wind drops to a gentle 9 mph cross-off. It's surfable, but not a standout.

We then hit a dry spell. From Wednesday the 8th right through to about Friday the 11th, the conditions get pretty ordinary. We’ve got a few days of lumpy, messy swell and cross-shore winds that are making things look pretty average. It’s a real gap of flatness, with nothing worth paddling out for.

Now, Friday the 10th morning is the first real bright spot. It’s a bit of a dark horse. The swell drops to 4ft from the E with a more promising 10-second period, and the energy is moderate at 375. But the magic is in the wind: a glassy 3 mph from the SW. That’s about as clean as it gets for a reef break like Jacks Point. The waves will be clean, lined up, and the crowd is only "sometimes" a problem here, so you might get some good ones to yourself. This is the pick of the first week.

After that, we go into another lull. From Saturday the 11th onward, sizes drop under 3ft, and the winds get messy onshore or cross-on. The energy drops right off into double digits. It’s a real quiet period.

Saturday the 18th morning is the other one to circle on the calendar. A 4ft groundswell from the SE with a nice 12-second period, and clean 6 mph offshore wind from the W. The energy is 432 (moderate wave energy). This is a longer-period swell, so it should wrap in nicely here with some good shape, but you’ll get bigger gaps between sets. It’s a solid call for the second week.

Sunday the 19th morning also looks tidy. We’ve got a 4ft SE swell (12-second period), light NW cross-off around 6 mph, and the energy is up to 471. Again, the wind is light and clean, which is what you want for this reef.

A couple of other mornings like Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st also show clean conditions with lighter winds and waist-high ESE swell, but the real standout for the second week is that Saturday the 18th.

Remember, these long-range calls are promising, but there's always a bit more guesswork in 'em. For right now, I’m looking ahead to that Friday morning for a glassy session and the Saturday the 18th for a cleaner, more powerful swell.

Rusty.

Short Range Forecast

Moderate rain (total 19mm), heaviest on Tue morning. Mild temperatures (max 7°C on Wed morning, min 4°C on Tue morning). Winds increasing (light winds from the WSW on Tue night, strong winds from the SSW by Wed afternoon).

Days 4-6 Weather Summary

Mostly dry. Mild temperatures (max 8°C on Sat afternoon, min 3°C on Sat night). Wind will be generally light.
