Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' at Jacks Point.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: the next few days are a bit of a write-off. We’ve got a long wait ahead. The first real surf doesn’t arrive until Tuesday, July 07th, and even that is just a tease. Saturday, July 04th, and the rest of the weekend are plagued by messy winds and junk swell. It’s gonna be a frustrating gap if you’re itching to paddle out.
Your first real chance to get wet comes on Tuesday, July 07th. It’s not the full deal, but the wind swings offshore from the southwest, cleaning things up. We’re looking at a 6ft ESE swell, but the energy is only moderate (562) and it’s still a marginal call. It’s an advanced spot for a reason, so you’ll need to earn it.
Now, for the one true standout. Get your calendar out for Wednesday, July 08th. The morning session is the pick of the entire outlook. A light 6 mph offshore breeze from the southwest will have those E swells (5ft) lined up beautifully. The period hits 11 seconds, giving it some proper grunt, and the combined energy is strong at 613. The wave comment says “very good surf conditions”, and I’m inclined to agree. This is clean, powerful, and the crowd is only a *sometimes* thing, so you could get it to yourself. This is the one to aim for. Wednesday afternoon gets tricky with an onshore wind shift, so make it a morning mission.
After that, the surf settles back down. Thursday, July 09th, is a no-go with cross-onshore chop. Friday, July 10th, shows a promising morning with a light offshore again and a solid 4ft swell (367 energy), but it’s a short window. Saturday, July 11th gets a clean offshore from the WNW in the morning with a 4ft ESE swell, which is worth a look if you missed the Wednesday peak.
The second week of the outlook is lighter and smaller. From Sunday, July 12th onwards, we drop into the 3ft to 3ft range. The energy is weak, often below 100. There are a few moments of glass or clean conditions, like Tuesday afternoon, July 14th, and the afternoon of Saturday, July 18th, but the swell just isn't there to back it up. You might get a fun little wave on a log, but don’t expect anything with push. The last day, Sunday, July 19th, has a moderate offshore wind but only 2ft of swell—barely rideable.
Water temp feels about standard for the season, so no need for a full winter suit change.
Bottom line: for anyone serious, Wednesday, July 08th morning is your golden ticket. Everything else is a consolation prize.
Rusty.
