Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jacks Point over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Jacks Point over the next couple of weeks.

First off, I gotta be straight with you—the next week is a bit of a write-off for serious surfing. There’s a lot of small, weak energy and messy conditions to start. We’ve got a run of days with poor surf and scores that just don’t cut it. The wind is all over the place, mostly light, but cross or cross-off, and the swell is tiny. It’s not until Friday, July 17th that things start to look interesting.

The standout period is going to be Saturday, July 18th. That’s the one you want to circle. On Saturday morning, we’re looking at a clean 3 ft swell coming from the ESE with a solid 15-second period. That’s proper groundswell, and the combined energy is strong at 532—that’s good energy in the water. The wind is offshore from the WNW, light breeze, so it’s going to be glassy and clean. This is a reef break, so that long period will wrap in nicely. It’s an advanced wave, so not for beginners, but for the crew who know the lineup, Saturday morning is the pick of the fortnight. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no need to worry about anything unusual there.

Sunday, July 19th is also worth a paddle. The morning is a bit cloudier, with a 3 ft ESE swell at 13 seconds, and the wind is cross-off from the NW, keeping it clean. The energy is still decent at 360. By Sunday afternoon, the wind goes glassy from the SSW—dead calm—which is a real treat. The waves will be clean and lined up, though a little smaller. This is a fairly consistent spot, but it does get crowded sometimes, so get in early.

Looking further out, Monday, July 20th morning is another glassy session with a 2 ft SSE swell, but the period is a long 18 seconds. That’s very long period groundswell. At a reef, that’s a good thing, but it’ll mean longer waits between sets. The energy is moderate at 301.

After that, the following week from July 21st to the 28th is a bit of a mixed bag. The surf is mostly small and ordinary, with the swell dropping back to 1 ft to 2 ft. There are a few clean mornings with offshore winds—like Thursday, July 23rd morning with a 2 ft SE swell at 17 seconds—but the energy is low (174) and the scores are only marginal. It’s surfable, but nothing to get too excited about. The wind stays light and mostly favorable, but the waves just aren’t there in any real size.

So, to sum it up: the first week is a grind. The best bet is Saturday, July 18th morning, hands down. Sunday is next best if you want a glassy session. After that, it’s small but clean on a few mornings, but don’t expect any bombs. Keep an eye on it, though—forecasts can change.

Rusty.
