The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's comin' down the pipe for this area over the next couple of weeks.

We're looking at a long run of surf that starts pretty much right now, but honestly, there’s a lot of mediocrity to wade through before we get to anything worth getting excited about. The first standout comes on Friday, August 28th, but it's a one-session wonder.

Friday, August 28th is the only day in this whole run that really lights up. The afternoon session at San Bartolo - Izquierditas is the clear winner. We’ve got a solid 7ft swell rolling in from the southwest with a juicy 15-second period (moderate energy at 2202), and the wind is a clean cross-shore. That’s the combo for a proper session. The only catch? The wave comment flags it as potentially too big for this particular break, so it’s one for the experienced crew. For a beginner, that’s a pass. But for anyone who knows their way around, that Friday afternoon window is the best we’re going to see.

After that little burst of goodness, things get pretty lackluster. The rest of the run is plagued by marginal surf and questionable tide conditions from the Finder data. There’s a solid run of swell from the 3rd of September through the 4th, with moderate wave energy (around 1507 on the morning of the 4th) and a long period of 16–17 seconds. But the wind is consistently cross-onshore, and the guidance flags the conditions as marginal. That long period groundswell is better suited for a point or reef break, but at a beach/reef setup like this, it can make things close out fast. It’s worth a paddle if you’re desperate, but don’t expect greatness.

We then hit a flat spell from the 7th of September through the 12th, with swell dropping to 3ft to 4ft and combined energy well under 1000. The wind is light, but there just isn't enough push to make it worthwhile. It’s a straight-up dry period for quality waves.

The Standout Pick: That Friday, August 28th afternoon at Izquierditas is the only session I’d book time off for. Score 8/10 on the afternoon slot. It’s a clean, powerful SW groundswell with the right wind. Don’t sleep on it.

Get on it while you can.

Rusty.
