The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, taking a good long look at what Lake Erie has in store for us. Let me tell you, it's a pretty flat picture for a while.
We've got a gap of dry, surf-less days stretching from now all the way through the 16-day window. The only time we get any sort of bump is right at the start, but it’s nothing to write home about. The first little bit of action, such as it is, kicks off on Tuesday morning, the 1st of September.
For Tuesday morning, we’re looking at Erie. Don’t get your hopes up. We’ve got a tiny west swell at just `2 ft`, with a short, choppy period of 4 seconds. The combined energy is a weak (8), and with a `16 mph` cross-onshore wind, it’s just messy. This is poor surf all day. The water temp is about average for this time of year. Honestly, if you’re really itching for something, the best bet in this whole grim outlook is the glassy period on Friday morning, the 4th of September. A tiny `0.7 ft` north-west swell with a period of 3 seconds – it’s almost nothing for wave energy (1), but with the wind going glassy, the surface will be clean as a mirror. You might get a few tiny little rollers for a longboard, but that’s it.
After Friday afternoon, the lake just shuts off completely. The rest of the 16-day forecast shows nothing but zeros for swell and poor surf conditions. We’ve got a lot of wind and even some rain, but no wave energy to speak of. It’s a classic blank run for this area. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes on a lake. Conditions can change quickly, but as it stands, there’s nothing on offer.
Stay tuned, forecasts can change.
Rusty.
