The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this is a tough one for the lake.
For the entire 16-day outlook, there’s just nothing happening. We’re looking at a long, flat gap starting right now and running all the way through. The only spot that even gets a mention, Erie, is seeing tiny dribbles of swell, but it’s all rated as poor surf conditions. The combined energy never gets out of the weak zone, maxing out at a measly 45 (weak energy) on the morning of Sunday the 19th, with a 3ft swell from the NW. But even then, the wind is a light cross-shore, and the period is a short 5 seconds – not enough to push any real shape. Before that, we have a glassy morning on Friday the 17th, but with zero swell. Ouch.
The rest of the run is a dead loss. From the 21st of July all the way through to the 30th, there’s no wave energy at all. Zero. The wind tries to be kind – we get glassy conditions on the morning of the 26th and again on the afternoon of the 29th – but without any swell, it’s just a lake sitting there flat. There’s a brief moment of clean conditions on the 23rd with a light cross-offshore, but again, no waves to ride.
This is one of those blank runs that’s pretty normal for the area when the weather patterns just don’t line up. Don’t lose hope, though – forecasts can change, and it tends not to stay this poor for long. But for now, leave the boards in the van.
Rusty.
