The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s on the cards for the Lake Erie region over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you – it’s pretty grim. We’ve got a long, flat spell ahead, so don’t be in a rush to grab your board.
For the immediate future, there’s really nothing happening. The next few days are looking poor. There’s a tiny pulse expected on Thursday the 27th of August afternoon, with a weak 1ft swell from the WNW, but the period is a short 4 seconds and the wind is a messy cross-onshore. The combined energy is barely a whisper at 5. The water temp is reading a touch warmer than normal at 74°. It’s just not worth it.
That little blip fades fast, and then we are looking at a massive gap. From Friday morning the 28th of August all the way through to the morning of Monday the 31st of August, it’s completely flat. Same story from Monday afternoon through the rest of the 16-day window – it’s all zeros. There’s no swell to speak of at all.
The only tiny slice of hope is a possible glassy window at a few points. On Wednesday morning, the 2nd of September, there’s a glassy morning with a 1ft swell from the West. And on the afternoon of Thursday the 3rd of September, we get glassy conditions again. But with no height and no energy (0), you’ll be sitting on a flat lake.
For the standout, there isn’t one. The entire 16-day forecast is essentially a write-off for good surf. The wind conditions might look clean or glassy now and then, but with no swell to ride, it’s a bust. When the lake goes this flat for this long, it’s just one of those stretches. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a no-go.
Rusty.
