Alright, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you about Lake Erie. I've looked at the whole 16-day window, and I gotta tell ya, it's a tough one. There's a big old gap of nothing for a long stretch. We've got a few tiny, weak pulses at the very start, but then from Sunday the 12th right through to the end of the period on the 24th, it's a total flat spell. No waves to speak of. It's just one of those runs for the lake, and forecasts can change, but right now, it's a write-off.
The only chance to get wet is in the first couple of days. On Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th of July, the lake is offering up a few crumbs. The water is running much warmer than normal for this time of year, about 75°, which is a real surprise.
The only spot that's even worth mentioning is Erie. It's a consistent spot, exposed to a west swell, which is what we're seeing. The best of a pretty average bunch looks like Saturday morning, the 11th of July. We've got a tiny 1.0ft swell from the northeast, but it's clean with a cross-offshore wind. The energy is weak (2), and the period is a short 3 seconds, so it's not going to be anything special, but it's the cleanest window we've got. The crowds are sometimes an issue here, so you might have company for those tiny waves.
Honestly, for the rest of the 16 days, there's nothing. The lake is going flat. If you're a kite surfer, the strong winds on Saturday the 18th might be interesting, but for paddle surfing, it's a no-go. Don't hold your breath.
Rusty.
