Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's shaking for the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. Looking at the whole 16-day window, there's just not a lot of love in the water for the Lake Erie zone. The finder is coming up empty, and the guidance isn't giving us much to work with. We've got a serious dry spell on our hands.
For the first week, from Monday the 6th of July right through to Sunday the 12th, we're seeing tiny, weak swell. The energy is just pathetic, with the combined energy barely cracking 33 (moderate). The swell direction is all over the place, from NE to WSW, but the heights are laughable – we're talking 1.0 ft to 3 ft at best, with a short, gutless period of 3 to 5 seconds. Plus, the wind is mostly a mess, cross or cross-on, which just chops it up. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there. But honestly, there's not a single recommendable window here. The setups look more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on those days.
Then, from Monday the 13th of July right through to the end of the forecast on Tuesday the 21st of July, the swell completely flatlines. Zero energy. The combined energy is 0 for the entire stretch. The wind does turn glassy and offshore at times, which is a tease, but without any swell, it's just a flat lake. There's a stretch of about 9 days there with absolutely nothing to surf.
I know it's a bummer, but it tends not to stay poor for long around here, and forecasts can change. Keep your eyes peeled, but for now, there's no reason to wax the board. This kind of blank run is more normal for the area, so don't lose hope.
Rusty.
