The Lowdown
Hey crew, Rusty here. Gotta be honest, the outlook for Erie is a total flat spell. Over this 16-day stretch, there is essentially nothing for a surfer to get excited about.
The first real recommendation is a no-show, and we're looking at a massive gap of no waves. From now until the 21st of September, it's all "poor surf conditions" with zero scores across the board.
Early on, around Sunday the 6th of September, there's a whisper of a swell. A weak, short-period windswell from the NE, maybe 1ft to 2ft on Sunday with a period of just 4 seconds. The combined energy is pathetic, sitting in the single digits and twenties (4 to 20). Plus, the wind is a messy cross-shore, so it's all chop. Not worth paddling out for.
The only tiny bright spot might be on Friday the 11th of September. We get a little WNW swell in the afternoon, still only about 1ft and a 4-second period, but the wind goes glassy. For a short window, the lake could be like a mirror. But the energy is almost nothing (combined energy of just 5).
After that, from Saturday the 12th all the way through to Monday the 21st of September, the charts are empty. No swell height, no energy. Zero. The winds are often cross-off or clean, but without any waves, it's pointless.
The water is notably warm, sitting at 74°F with a 4°F anomaly, so it's much warmer than usual for the season. Great for a float, but there's no surf to be had. This sort of dead run is pretty normal for the area. Things can change, but for now, don't bother bringing your board.
Rusty.
