Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: don’t get your hopes up for Lake Erie. We’ve got a long stretch ahead.

Right from the start, it’s flat. The first record we see is Tuesday, July 7th, and the surf is tiny – we’re talking knee-high mush at best, 1.0ft from the NE with a pathetic 4-second period. The combined energy is barely a whisper (2). Water temp is sitting at 25°, which is a massive 4° warmer than normal for this time of year – feels like a bathtub, but it won’t help you catch a wave. Wind is light and cross or cross-onshore, so it’s just messy. No rideable surf here.

Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are completely flat, with zero energy. Just don’t bother.

Friday the 10th morning brings a tiny glimmer: 1ft from the W, 4-second period, with glassy conditions. The energy is still weak (5). It’s surfable if you’re desperate and on a log, but it’s not good. By afternoon the wind turns onshore, killing it.

Saturday the 11th morning offers a similar tiny pulse: 1ft from the NE, 3-second period, with a clean cross-offshore breeze. Energy is still low (3). Might get a crumbly little wave on a longboard, but don’t expect much.

Then from Sunday the 12th all the way through to Wednesday the 22nd of July, it’s a dead zone. Day after day of zero energy and flat conditions. There’s no swell on the horizon. Some days look glassy and pretty, but there’s nothing to ride.

So, what we’ve got is a 16-day outlook with only a few barely rideable days in the first week (July 7th, 10th, and 11th), followed by a massive 11-day flat spell. If you’re a serious surfer, you’re better off doing something else. If you’re a beginner, the water is warm, but there’s nothing to learn on. Honestly, with this kind of weak, short-period junk, it’s more of a lake paddle than a surf session.

Rusty out.
