Table - best surf conditions forecast for Erie over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, it's Rusty here. Let's be real, I've looked through the whole 16-day window for Erie, and I gotta say, it's a tough one. We're looking at a long stretch of flat, poor conditions. There's no surf on offer for the first few days, and honestly, the pattern doesn't look like it's going to change for a long time.
We start with a blank run. From Sunday, July 12th right through to the end of the window on the 27th, every single day is flagged as "poor surf conditions." The combined energy of all swells directed here is zero for the vast majority of the time, and when it's not zero, it's barely a whisper, like 1 or 4 (weak energy). The swell heights are tiny, like 0.7 ft, 1 ft, 2 ft, with periods so short, 3 to 5 seconds, that it's just messy wind chop, not a wave you'd want to paddle for.
The few times there's a tiny bump, the wind is rarely your friend. On Wednesday morning the 15th, we get a 2 ft swell from the west with a 5-second period, but it's a cross-onshore wind, making it choppy. Not worth getting wet for. There's a moment on Monday morning the 13th with glassy conditions, but no swell to go with it. A couple of mornings, like the 21st and 22nd, have clean cross-off or glassy winds, but again, with zero swell energy, it's a total flat spell.
The best I can say is that for a spot like this, a blank run is more normal. It's a lake, not the ocean. Don't hold your breath. Keep an eye on the forecasts, but for now, the boards are staying in the car.
Rusty.
