The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. I gotta be straight with you – the outlook for the next couple of weeks on the lake is a tough one. We're looking at a long stretch of flat, lifeless water, with only a tiny window of small, poor surf early on. It's one of those periods where you might be better off tuning up your board or just enjoying a cold one on the beach.

Right now, Friday, July 17th, through the start of the week, we've got nothing. The lake is flat with a combined energy of 0. It's a real bummer, but that's the way it goes around here sometimes.

We do see a tiny spike of activity on Saturday, July 18th. The morning brings a weak 2 ft swell from the west, with a period of just 4 seconds. That's short-period, sloppy stuff. The wind is a fresh 19 mph cross-offshore from the SSW, which keeps the surface clean, but the waves are just too small and weak to ride. The combined energy is only 15. By Saturday afternoon, the wind picks up to 22 mph from the WSW, creating a lumpy cross-chop on that 3 ft, 5-second swell. It's not a good look.

Sunday, July 19th, offers a brief moment of near-calm. The morning is a write-off with a choppy 3 ft wind swell, but the afternoon turns glassy with a 1 ft, 4-second ripple from the north. The combined energy is a measly 4. It's flat, but at least it's pretty to look at. After that, from Monday, July 20th, right through the rest of the forecast period, it's zeroes across the board. The lake goes quiet, with no swell and no hope for a decent wave. The closest we get to a good wind is a few glassy or light-offshore mornings, but there's nothing to ride.

So, the honest truth? There are no standout days. The best on offer is that glassy Sunday afternoon, but even then, you're looking at a lake-like surface. This is a normal patch for the area – it can be a real desert for a while. Keep your eyes on the horizon, the forecasts can change, but for now, it's a no-go.

Rusty.
