The Lowdown
What’s up, folks? Rusty here, looking at the forecast for our neck of the woods. Gotta keep it real – we are in for a major dry spell.
The first time we see any surf is on Sunday, July 26th, but it’s just a tiny 0.7 ft wave from the west with a period of 3 seconds. That’s wind slop. With the wind coming cross-onshore, it’s not going to be pretty. The energy is basically nothing.
We get a tiny window on Monday, July 28th. The morning session shows a clean 3 ft swell from the west-northwest. The period is still short at 5 seconds, but the offshore wind from the south should keep things smooth. The energy is weak, reading 26, so don't expect any power. Tuesday morning, July 29th, offers a similar 2 ft from the north-northwest but with a choppy cross-onshore breeze.
Then the taps turn off. From Wednesday, July 30th, all the way through the first week of August, the charts are completely flat. Not a single wave. That’s a massive gap of about 9 days with nothing on offer. The mornings are mostly clean and glassy, which would be perfect if there was any swell. For a lake, a quiet spell this long is pretty standard, just part of the deal.
If you’ve got a kite, the light winds and flat water might be your thing. For the rest of us, it’s time to wait.
This is Rusty, out.
