Table - best surf conditions forecast for Erie over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me level with you about the Lake Erie scene. Lookin' at the whole sixteen-day picture, and I gotta tell ya, it’s a tough one. There’s just nothing happening out there for a surfer. The first window around July 11th and 12th has a little bump of energy, but that combined energy figure is barely a whisper (4 and 17), with a weak 1ft to 2ft NE windswell and a short period of 4 to 5 seconds. That’s not surf; that’s lake chop. The wind is howlin’ cross-shore at 16 mph, just messin’ everything up.
And then, from July 13th all the way through to the 26th, it’s just a flat, empty lake. Day after day with no wave energy whatsoever – the numbers are all zeros. We see some clean-looking mornings on the 17th and the 21st, even a glassy afternoon on the 17th, but without any swell, it’s just a mirror. You could practically water-ski, but you ain’t surfing. There’s an offshore wind on the 22nd, a strong 25 mph SE breeze, which is a cruel joke – perfect wind, zero waves. So, I’m sorry to say, there are no good surf options in this 16-day run for Erie. It’s just one of those stretches for the lake. Don’t hang the boards up just yet, it tends not to stay this poor for long, but right now, we’re dry.
