Table - best surf conditions forecast for Erie over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the outlook for Erie is a tough one. We're staring down a 16-day window with barely a whisper of surf. There's a big gap right from the start before we see any real recommendations, and even then, the wave energy is about as weak as it gets.
Right off the bat, the whole week is a write-off for any kind of quality paddle surfing. The first hint of anything rideable shows up on Thursday, July 10th in the morning. We're talking about waves around 1 feet from the WNW, with a period of just 4 seconds. The combined energy is a measly 5 (weak). It's barely a bump. The positive side? The wind is light offshore from the SE, which would make the water's surface clean as a whistle. But honestly, that tiny, weak swell isn't going to give you much to work with. It's a lake, not an ocean, and right now, it's a flat lake.
The situation continues in a similar vein. Friday the 11th through Sunday the 13th all show scraps of swell, never pushing past 2 feet. On Monday, July 13th, there's another tiny pulse of 2 feet WNW swell with some light wind, but at a combined energy of just 9 (weak) it's still nothing to get excited about. For the more consistent days, the tone stays optimistic: it tends not to stay this poor for long, but for now, it's a blank run.
After that, from Tuesday, July 15th right through to the end of the forecast on Thursday, July 23rd, the guidance file shows nothing but zeros for wave height and energy. The lake goes completely flat.
For a spot like Erie, which is an exposed beach setup, this is what happens when the swell and wind refuse to cooperate. With such weak, short-period swell and many days of cross-onshore wind, it's safe to say if you see any waves at all here, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing for the foreseeable future.
This is Rusty, signing off.
