The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for our neck of the woods.
To be straight with you, the next sixteen days are looking pretty bleak. We’ve got a long stretch of flat, poor surf conditions with no real swell to speak of. The first few days have a tiny bit of wave action, but nothing that’s going to get you out of bed. For the vast majority of the forecast period, from the 10th of August onwards, there’s simply no surf to recommend.
The best we can see is a very small window of opportunity early on. On Saturday morning, the 8th of August, we might see a tiny 2 ft swell from the west, but it's coming with a messy 16 mph cross-shore wind and a short period of 4 seconds. The combined wave energy is a paltry 10, so it’s weak. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year at 75°.
Honestly, the whole period looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer, with a lot of wind and no real wave power. It’s a blank run, and that’s not unusual for this area when the lake goes quiet. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to chase.
Rusty.
