The Lowdown
Hey everyone, Rusty here. Let's chat about Embassy Beach.
I gotta be straight with you – this forecast is a tough one to read. We're lookin' at a full 16-day stretch from August 28th right through to September 12th, and the story is pretty much the same every day: poor surf. That's a long, frustrating gap for any surfer.
The energy in the water is gonna fluctuate. You'll see the combined swell energy go from a weak (59) up to some bigger numbers like (237) and even a solid (674) by the 12th of September. But that's where the good news stops. The swell is almost entirely a short-period, wind-driven mess from the SE or ESE, running at 0.9m to 1.9m with a period between 5 and 8 seconds. And the wind? It's mostly cross-onshore or directly onshore from the SE and ESE, givin' us nothing but choppy, bumpy, flat-faced waves. There's a brief moment on the afternoon of the 30th of August where the wind goes offshore from the NE at 19 mph, and it gets clean, but the swell is still weak.
The water is runnin' about average for this time of year.
Embassy Beach is a beginner-friendly break on a beach and reef, but with this setup – weak, short-period swell and constant chop – it's more of a kiteboarding spot than a surfing one right now. There's not a single standout session in the whole window. The waves are just too small and too messy to bother with.
This is a real blank period for the area. Stay patient. Forecasts can change, but for now, it's a paddlin' vacation.
Rusty.
