Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dogmans (Rincon) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, let’s break it down. For the next 16 days at Dogmans (Rincon), it’s a flat spell. This is a reef break that needs a good west-northwest swell to get cranking, and we’re getting none of that. Water temp is 84°F, a little over a degree warmer than average for July.
Starting Friday, July 10th, absolutely nothing – zero energy. Saturday the 11th brings the first hint of a wave: a tiny 0.3ft from the north, with a 13-second period. Combined energy is only 4 – that’s pathetic. The wind is light and cross-offshore in the afternoon, making it clean, but you can’t ride what isn’t there.
Sunday the 12th through Wednesday the 15th is more of the same. Trash waves: 0.3ft to 0.7ft from the north or north-northeast. Periods between 9 and 11 seconds. Energy values are in the single digits or low teens (2 to 16). It’s a total desert out there.
We see a little bump on Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of July. Swell height gets to 1ft, still from the north-northeast, but the period drops to 7-8 seconds – windswell junk. The combined energy gets up to 21 on Thursday morning. Still not worth the drive. Crowds here are *sometimes* an issue, but not with this. Friday morning the 17th is glassy – calm wind – but the swell is tiny and weak. Clean water, no waves.
From Saturday the 18th through Saturday the 25th, it’s a total shutout. Multiple days with zero swell energy. There’s a blink on Sunday the 19th morning: 1.0ft from the north-northeast, period 7 seconds, energy 9 – but cross-onshore wind messes it up. Tuesday the 21st morning is glassy with a 0.3ft north swell, 10-second period, energy of 2. That’s not a surf session, that’s a lake.
There are zero standout sessions in this whole 16-day window. The longest stretch of nothing runs from the 18th right through to the 25th. For an intermediate reef spot like this, it’s more of a kiteboarding scene right now, but the wind’s too light for that too.
Stay patient. It’ll turn around eventually.
