Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Rincon.
Honestly, it's a pretty quiet stretch ahead. We’ve got a solid 16-day window staring at us, but the opening days are nothing to write home about. The first real sniff of anything rideable doesn't show up until later on, so there's a big gap of dead-flat or tiny, powerless waves right from the start.
The only break on the roster is Dogmans (Rincon), a reef setup that’s fairly consistent and works best with a WNW swell. The water’s sitting at a warm 84°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so you can leave the steamer at home.
Let’s run through it. From Saturday the 4th through to Saturday the 11th, it’s a total write-off. We're looking at swell heights of 0.0ft to 0.7ft, and the combined energy is negligible, with readings as low as 1 to 4. The wind is often okay – glassy or light offshore – but there’s just no ocean energy to work with. You’d be floating around on a lake.
There’s a tiny, tiny pulse on Sunday the 12th. The morning shows 0.3ft from the north at 8 seconds, with the afternoon bumping up to a measly 0.7ft. Combined energy only hits 9. The wind is clean cross-off, but this is ankle-snapper stuff. Not worth getting wet for.
Monday the 13th morning brings the most interesting conditions of the whole run, but still no real swell. The wind goes glassy, and there’s a 0.7ft north-northeast swell with a period of 12 seconds. That long period gives it a bit of grunt for its size, but the combined energy is only 18. It’s sleek and clean, but tiny.
From Tuesday the 14th through to the end of the period on the 19th, it’s the same story. Tiny, inconsistent pulses of 0.3ft to 0.7ft from the north or north-northeast, with combined energy figures mostly in the single digits. Winds are generally light and clean, sometimes glassy, but it’s all fluff.
So, the honest truth? There are no standouts here. Not one session in the 16 days offers surf worth paddling out for. The swell just isn't there. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that's not totally unheard of when the swell window goes quiet. Keep the board in the car, but maybe just leave it on the roof for the drive.
Stay salty,
Rusty
