G’day, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer.
Well, honestly, this is a pretty grim stretch. We’ve got a long, flat spell heading into this week, so don’t expect much for several days. The first real hope doesn’t appear until Monday the 6th, and even then, it’s underwhelming. After that, there are long gaps with absolutely nothing – the surf just dies for days on end, with no real recommendations until maybe Wednesday the 14th, and then another quiet spell. It’s a lean outlook.
The only spot we’ve got in the mix is El Palito, a beach and breakwater setup. It’s a beginner-friendly wave, fairly consistent, but here the crowds can crop up sometimes. The water is sitting at 82°F, which is pretty much normal for this time of year – nothing unusual.
Monday the 6th morning is the first sniff of action. The swell is small at 3 ft from the NE, with a short period of 6 seconds – so this is weak windswell, not much push. The combined energy is weak (63). That said, the wind goes glassy, which is a huge positive – clean conditions for a small wave. It’s surfable, but ordinary.
Later in the week, on Tuesday the 14th morning, we see a tiny bump: 3 ft from the NE, period still short at 7 seconds, and the energy is still weak (94). Again, the wind is light and offshore from the NNE, so it’ll be clean, but it’s really small and weak.
Looking further out, on Friday the 17th morning, there’s another tiny window: 3 ft from the NE, 6-second period, weak energy (58), and glassy conditions. Same story – surfable but nothing to write home about.
For the entire 16-day run, there’s no standout. The best of a poor bunch is probably Monday the 6th morning – that glassy, clean 3 ft NE swell at El Palito is the only time the wind really plays nice. Don’t expect much; it’s a session for the log or a learner. Everything else is cross-on slop or flat.
Rusty.
