The Lowdown
Hey, Rusty here. ED's is that tricky point break—inconsistent, yeah, but when it fires it's a gem. The water's sitting at 65.8°F right now, a solid 4.1°F above normal, so it's feeling more like summer than mid-July. The forecast kicks off with a flat spell: Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th are dead, nothing doing. Then Sunday the 19th we scrape into some marginal 2ft swell from the SW, but it's cross-on and tiny—barely worth a paddle. That pattern holds through Monday and Tuesday the 20th–21st: little 3ft–3.6ft bumps, clean offshore winds but weak, and the energy's moderate (around 374–465). Still, with long 13–15 second periods, the waves have some shape, just not enough push.
We hit a lull Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd—poor conditions, wind swinging cross or cross-on, and the swell drops back to 2ft–2.3ft. Not worth your time.
Then things start to get interesting. Friday the 24th brings a sneaky pulse: 2ft swell but with a 24-second period – that's a very long groundswell. Combined energy jumps to 583, and it's glassy offshore. That's a standout for the patient surfer – the point will handle that long period beautifully, and the lines should be clean and lined up. Crowds are possible, so get there early.
Saturday the 25th morning holds similar energy (765) with 2.3ft from the SSW at 21 seconds – another long-period gem with light offshore wind. This is the best of the first week. After that, Sunday the 26th through Wednesday the 29th stay marginal but consistent: 2.3ft–3.3ft, periods around 17–19 seconds, mostly offshore, but nothing jumps out.
The real standout lands on Tuesday the 28th of July. The afternoon session sees the biggest swell of the whole period: 3.9ft from the SSW, 18-second period, and combined energy hits 902 – that's strong. Offshore wind all day, clean. For an advanced point break, this is prime. It's a bit bigger than the rest, but still manageable. Just be aware the crowds could be there, and the break is inconsistent by nature, so patience pays off.
