Table - best surf conditions forecast for Crash Boat over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's get into it. Rusty here, looking at the forecast for Crash Boat over the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you – it’s looking like a real slow period for waves.
We've got a pretty bleak run coming up. The first break of swell doesn't really show up until the middle of next week, and even then, it's nothing to write home about. We're looking at a solid gap with no real recommendations from now until around the 16th of July. The water temp is sitting at about 84°F and that's pretty much normal for this time of year, so the ocean feels like a warm bath.
For the first week, from July 8th right through to the 15th, the swell is tiny. I'm talking 0.3ft to 0.7ft from the south and north, with periods mostly around 5 to 9 seconds. The wave energy is weak – we're seeing values like 2 to 11 (weak energy). The winds are offshore from the ENE or NE, blowing at 9 to 22 mph, which would make for clean conditions if there was any surf. But it's just not happening. The wave comment says "poor surf conditions" across the board, and the scores back that up. It's honestly more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing for most of this stretch if you're looking for some kind of fix.
Now, as we move into the second week, around Thursday the 16th of July, things get a tiny bit more interesting. That morning we might see some 0.7ft swell from the north with a period of 9 seconds and the energy nudging up to 11 (weak energy). Still small, but it's the best we've got. Winds are offshore from the ENE at 16 mph, so it'll be clean. This is an inconsistent break, but on the plus side, it's sheltered from the swell. Given the direction matches the optimum (W), it might offer a few tiny, weak lines for the dedicated surfer.
After that brief blip, it drops right back down. From the 17th through to the 23rd of July, we're back to 0.3ft to 0.7ft slop from the south and north. Periods stay short, between 5 and 11 seconds, and the energy is back to pitiful levels (2 to 4). Winds stay solidly offshore, so the surface will be clean, but there's just no power to work with. The 20th and 21st of July have some 0.3ft south and north swells with a period of 10 and 11 seconds, but the energy is still weak.
Look, the bottom line is this area is in a flat spell. It’s pretty normal for this spot to have blank runs like this. We don't have one true standout here. The closest we get is the morning of July 16th, but even that's a stretch. Don't expect much, but as always, forecasts can change. Keep an eye on it.
Stay tuned, Rusty.
