The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on offer.
Look, I’m gonna level with you. Crash Boat is the only option in this whole 16-day window, and honestly, it’s looking flat as a pancake for the most part. We’ve got a huge gap of minimal to no surf right through until the end of the month. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is a tough stretch.
The first proper sign of any real pulse doesn’t show up until Monday afternoon, August 31st. Even then, we’re talking a tiny 1ft southerly swell with a period of just 7 seconds – it’s weak energy (15 combined). The wind is offshore from the NNE at 12 mph, so the surface will be clean, but there’s just not enough water moving to get excited about. It’s a beginner-only kind of day if you’re desperate for a splash.
Tuesday, September 1st, the morning looks glassy with NNW winds at 3 mph and a 1ft SSW swell (13 combined). It’s clean, but still tiny. The afternoon picks up a bit of cross-offshore wind from the NNW, but the size stays small.
Wednesday, September 2nd, is the most interesting morning in the whole period, and even then it’s modest. We’ve got glassy conditions with a 1.0ft S swell. The wind is calm at 0 mph – dead glass. It’ll be clean as a whistle, but you’ll be fighting for tiny, weak waves. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
After that, we slide back into very small, low-energy southerly swell right through to the end of the forecast. The combined energy readings linger in the single digits (2 to 4 combined) most days. The wind is mostly offshore from the ENE or NE, keeping things tidy, but there’s just no push.
The only real change in the second week is a subtle uptick on Sunday, September 6th, with a 1.0ft N swell and a 9-second period (17 combined). It’s still small, but that period gives it a little more shape. The wind is cross-offshore from the ENE at 6 mph, so it’ll be clean, but don’t expect much.
Basically, if you’re a beginner looking for a glassy, safe paddle on a foam board, there are a few windows. For anyone wanting a proper wave, this whole 16-day run is a write-off. The swell just isn’t there. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a long wait.
Rusty.
