The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this is a tough one. The next 16 days are looking pretty bleak for a proper paddle. We've got a long stretch of poor surf conditions ahead, so don't get your hopes up.
The only spot on the radar is Crash Boat, and it's a real wildcard. It's a beach and reef setup, sheltered from the swell, and it's inconsistent. For the entire 16-day window, the wave energy is basically non-existent. The combined energy of all swells directed here is a measly 4 at best, often just 1 or 2. You're looking at ankle-snapping waves of 0.3ft to 1.0ft, mostly from the S or N. The water temp is a warm 84°, which is about normal for the time of year.
The wind is mostly offshore from the NE or ENE, which would be a dream if there was any swell to work with. On the morning of July 16th, there's a little bump from the N with a gentle offshore breeze, but it's still just 0.7ft and an 8-second period. Not enough to get excited about.
There's a real gap here. From Monday afternoon, July 13th, right through to Tuesday morning, July 28th, there's simply no surf worth recommending. It's a solid 16 days of flatness. For a spot like this, a blank run is more normal for the area. With the consistent offshore winds and tiny, weak swell, this setup honestly looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. Hang in there, and check back in a week.
Rusty.
