Table - best surf conditions forecast for Crash Boat over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight up – this forecast is a tough one to stomach if you’re after a proper wave. There’s a massive gap on the horizon with nothing worth paddling out for. From now through the end of the 16-day window, it’s a flat spell with barely a ripple.
We’re looking at Crash Boat, a beach and reef setup that’s usually got potential when the swell lines up, but right now it’s a ghost town. The water temperature is sitting at 84°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – you’ll be sweating in your wettie, if you even bother to suit up.
The first week is just a write-off. From July 7th right through to July 22nd, the swell is tiny – mostly 0.7ft to 1ft, with the biggest pulse hitting around July 16th at a measly 1ft. The wind is often offshore or cross-off, which would be a dream if there was any wave energy, but with combined swell energy values mostly in the single digits or low double digits (like 4, 11, 19, and a high of just 26), there’s just nothing happening. The swell period is short too, mostly 5 to 9 seconds, so even the little bumps are weak and wind swell.
Honestly, the best day on paper is Saturday, July 20th, when you get glassy conditions in the morning with a 0.7ft south swell at 5 seconds. Sounds pretty, but you’ll be floating on a lake. It’s so small it’s more of a reflection than a wave. There is no standout session here – nothing even close.
To be fair, Crash Boat is an inconsistent spot, so a blank run like this isn't a total shock for the area. It’s a waiting game. Forecasts can change, but right now, you’re better off cleaning the wax off your board and waiting for the next system. This setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, if it ever picks up a breath of wind.
Rusty.
