The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' at Crash Boat.
First up, I gotta be straight with you – we're lookin' at a pretty lean stretch of surf. The whole 16-day window is a quiet one, with nothing but tiny, weak waves on the cards. The combined swell energy is barely a whisper, with values mostly between 2 and 14 – that's weak, weak, weak. We're talkin' ankle-snappers at best.
The good news is the wind is mostly offshore out of the NE and ENE, which means the surface will be clean. But when the swell is this small, clean conditions don't mean much. You'll be bobbing around on a glassy, knee-high ripple.
For the first week, from Wednesday the 15th right through to the following Tuesday, we're looking at waves that are a consistent 0.3ft to 1ft. The swell direction is all over the shop, swinging from S to N, but the periods are short – mostly between 5 and 10 seconds. There's nothing to get excited about. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
The second week, from Wednesday the 23rd all the way to the end of the month on the 30th, is more of the same. Tiny surf, 0.3ft to 1ft, with clean but empty conditions. The combined energy doesn't crack double digits most days.
Honestly, there's no standout session here. The best you could hope for is a log on a glassy morning, but even that's a stretch. The swell is just too small. If you're desperate for a paddle, the cleanest windows will be the mornings with the lightest offshore breezes, but don't expect to catch much.
Stay patient, folks. The ocean will wake up eventually.
Rusty.
