The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cooking for Courtown. Gotta be honest with ya, straight off the bat, this is a tough run. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty flat and unappealing. There are no good surf options to recommend, so prepare for a serious lull. The water temp is running a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, coming in at 63°, but that's about the only thing that’s cooperating.
We start on Friday the 11th with barely a ripple, just 1.0 ft of weak southerly slop. Saturday the 12th sees a slight bump, with 4 ft from the SSW, but it's getting hammered by a fresh 19 mph cross-offshore breeze, so it'll be a messy, blown-out mess. That tiny bump fades fast, and from Sunday the 13th right through to the 25th of September, we're staring at a massive flat spell. There are a few moments of glassy conditions and offshore winds, but with swell heights barely reaching 1.0 ft and wave energy levels in the single digits, it's not even worth paddling out. The combined swell energy stays pathetically weak, bottoming out at 0 for most sessions. On Tuesday the 22nd, we get dead calm, glassy conditions with a tiny 0.3 ft, 13-second groundswell, but there's no push behind it. Right at the tail end, on Saturday the 26th, we finally see a bit of life with 3 ft from the SSW and light airs making it glassy. The combined swell energy climbs to 37, which is still low, making it the most interesting session of the whole period, but it's still a far cry from good. Honestly, this stretch looks more suited to a kite than a paddle if you're desperate. For this area, blank runs like this are pretty normal, so don't lose hope. Forecasts can always change.
