The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for this spot.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you—the next week and a half is a bit of a grind. We’re looking at a long, drawn-out run of marginal surf starting Monday the 14th and running all the way through to late on the 24th of September. The swell’s just not cooperating, with short period, wind-affected slop and persistent cross-off breezes making things messy. Honestly, it's a stretch of days where you’re better off leaving the board in the car.
The real light at the end of the tunnel comes Saturday the 26th. Things finally start to line up. We’ve got a nice little pulse of long-period groundswell (15 seconds) coming from the SSW, with combined wave energy in the moderate range (492). The kicker? Saturday afternoon is glassy—dead calm wind—and that’s a major positive. You’re looking at clean, 3ft surf at Consessions/Big Rights. The swell direction (SSW) matches the optimum for this reef break, so it should wrap in nicely. It’s only a small swell, but with those conditions, the shape and quality will make up for it.
Sunday the 27th keeps the good vibes going with a glassy morning and a similar 3ft SSW groundswell. By Monday the 28th, we get another window of absolute perfection: glassy conditions again, with 2ft to 3ft SSW/SW swell at a very long 18-second period. That’s proper energy (546-736) for the size, and those offshore or calm winds will have it looking like a postcard. This is a reef break, so that long-period swell will really stand up and offer some nice, lined-up waves.
Just keep in mind, this break is listed for advanced surfers only, and it can get crowded sometimes. But for the pick of the window, I’d be aiming for Saturday the 26th afternoon and Monday the 28th. The water is sitting at a warm 81°F, which is about average for this time of year—no surprises there.
It’s been a long dry spell to get here, but once it turns on, it turns on. Stay frothing.
