Table - best surf conditions forecast for Beavers over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s chew the fat on what’s coming our way at Beavers.
First things first, I gotta be honest with you—this is a long, slow burn. The water temp is around 63°F, which is about right for the season, nothing to write home about.
The first week is pretty gutless. We’re looking at a real dry spell. Saturday starts off with a tiny 2ft SSW swell, but the wind is all wrong with a cross-onshore breeze, and the whole thing is just poor. It stays like that for days. We get a slight lift on Wednesday, July 15th, with the swell jumping to 4ft from the WNW, but it’s a windswell with a short 7-second period, so it’ll be weak and bumpy. The energy is still low (262), and the wind is onshore. Not worth the drive.
Thursday, July 16th, and Friday, July 17th, show a bit more size (4ft and 3ft) and slightly better period, but the wind is still messy. The combined energy finally gets into the moderate range (370 on Thursday morning), but it’s all “marginal” at best. This is for the dedicated local only who just needs to get salt water in their ears.
Now, the real story starts on the weekend of July 18th and 19th. That’s the one to circle. Saturday, July 18th, we get a clean-looking bump from the SSE. Morning swell is 2ft with a very long 16-second period, and by the afternoon it’s 3ft with the same long period. The combined energy jumps to a solid 574, which is strong. Sunday, July 19th, is the pick of the litter: a 3ft SSE swell, 13-second period, and energy at 548 in the morning with just a slight cross-onshore breeze. The afternoon is even cleaner with a 2ft SW groundswell, a very long 17-second period, and pumping out 626 in combined energy. This is the blue-ribbon window. The wind is light, the swell has serious push, and it’s the most promising conditions of the whole outlook.
Just remember, with that long period, Beavers (a beach and reef setup) might have the waves walling up a bit and wrapping around, but when the wind is that light, it’s going to be fun.
After that, it drops right back off into a quiet, poor pattern for the rest of the forecast. The last little glimmer is on Sunday, July 26th, with a 2ft SW swell and an 18-second period, but the onshore wind keeps it in the marginal category.
So, here’s the short of it: the first week is a no-go. Get your eyes on July 18th and 19th. Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning are your best chances for a proper surf. The rest is just watching the tide.
Rusty.
