Table - best surf conditions forecast for Beavers over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Beavers.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the next week and a bit is pretty grim. We’re looking at a long, frustrating stretch of poor surf conditions that basically runs from now through to at least the 23rd of July. The wave energy is all over the place, but the quality just isn't there. The water temp is sitting at 62°F at Beavers, which is about 1°F warmer than normal for this time of year – nothing crazy, just a touch on the mild side.
The first real faint glimmer of hope doesn't show up until the afternoon of Wednesday the 15th of July. Even then, it’s marginal. Swell bumps up to 5ft from the WNW, but the period is a short, choppy 6 seconds. The wind goes cross-offshore from the NW at 12 mph, which cleans things up. The combined energy is moderate at 280, but this is really one for the experts only, and honestly, it’s a bit of a gamble.
Thursday the 16th is a bit of a tease. The morning has 4ft of WNW swell at 9 seconds, with a cross-on wind from the WSW at 6 mph. The wave energy is ramping up into the strong zone (402), but the wind angle is junk. The afternoon is similar, just a touch smaller.
The next real standout is a long way off. Mark your calendars for Saturday the 25th of July. The morning session at Beavers is looking like the best of the whole run. We’ve got 2ft of swell from the SW, but check out the period – a very long 21 seconds. That’s proper groundswell, and with a WSW breeze at just 6 mph, it’s a light cross-on. The combined energy is strong at 569. This is a reef and beach setup, so that long-period swell could actually wrap in nicely, but it’s a long-range call, so keep your fingers crossed. The break is fairly consistent, but crowds are often, so you’ll have company.
Sunday the 26th of July is a close second. The morning has 3ft from the SSW with a 19-second period, and light cross-on winds from the WSW. The energy is even stronger at 686. The wind drops to almost nothing (3 mph) in the afternoon. Both days are worth a paddle, but the 25th just edges it for that extra little bit of period.
So, to sum it up – the first week and a half is a write-off for decent waves. The 25th and 26th of July are the only real shots we’ve got, and they look promising.
Rusty.
