Table - best surf conditions forecast for Beavers over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
To be honest, it's a pretty flat stretch ahead. We're looking at a long run of small, weak surf with very little to get excited about. The first real chance of anything worth paddling out for doesn't pop up until the 25th of July, which is a long way off. Before that, from the 10th through to the 24th, it's mostly a write-off with tiny waves, poor conditions, and a lot of "marginal" or "poor" labels. You'll be waiting a good two weeks for anything that might be worth a look.
The only spot on the radar is Beavers, a beach and reef setup that's fairly consistent. The water temperature is sitting at 62°, which is about 1° warmer than average for this time of year – nothing unusual, just your standard summer water.
Now, let's talk about the one tiny glimmer. On the morning of 25 July, there's a pulse of new swell. It's still small, coming in at 4 ft from the SSE, with a period of 15 seconds. That's a nice, long-period groundswell, which means there'll be some energy in the water, but the combined energy reading is 669 (moderate wave energy). The problem is that it's a long-period swell for a beach and reef break, which can make it break a bit too straight and wonky. The wind is light and offshore from the SSW, which is a major positive – it'll be clean. The afternoon looks a bit worse with a cross-onshore breeze and a lower combined energy of 632 (moderate wave energy). Crowds are "often" here, so expect company.
So, as a standout, 25 July morning is your best bet. It's the only date in the whole window that even gets a score of 2 out of 10, with the rest being 1 or 0. It's not going to be epic, but it's the only clean, surfable wave on offer, and it's a long way out so keep an eye on the forecast. If you're a beginner, 4 ft is fine, but it's not exactly a beginner-friendly window given the long wait.
If you're into kite surfing, the afternoons with cross-shore winds and a bit of chop might be more interesting than the paddling over the next two weeks.
Stay patient, folks.
Rusty.
