The Lowdown
Alright, let me have a look at what's coming down the pipe for Beavers.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat and tough. The water's way warmer than usual for this time of year, sitting at 69°, which is a big anomaly of 6° warmer than average. That's a bit of a head-scratcher, but it doesn't help the surf.
There's a long gap of small, weak surf on the cards. We start Tuesday the 18th with tiny 1ft to 2ft groundswell from the south, with a decent 16-second period. But the energy is weak (246) and the wind is cross-shore. The conditions are just poor. Wednesday and Thursday are more of the same, with very small swell and light onshore or cross winds. Honestly, there's nothing worth paddling out for in this first week.
The pattern stays poor right through to the start of the second week. The swell is tiny, mostly from the south or southwest, with periods that bounce around but the energy never gets strong. The wind is mostly light and onshore or cross-on. You're looking at a real blank run here.
Now, there are a couple of moments that catch the eye, but they come with big caveats. On Monday the 24th, the swell bumps up a little to 5ft from the west-northwest. That's still small, but the period is a short 6 seconds, and the combined energy is only moderate (275). What makes it interesting is the wind turns cross-offshore from the northwest at 12 mph. That could clean things up, but it's a short-period windswell and not exactly a standout. It's a marginal call at best.
Later, on Tuesday the 1st of September, we see the biggest swell of the window: 5ft from the west-northwest, again with a short 6-second period. The energy is moderate (282) and the wind is cross-offshore from the northwest at 16 mph. This is the closest thing we have to a standout. It's still a short-period swell, so it won't have the punch of a groundswell, but the clean wind makes it the best bet on offer if you're desperate for a paddle.
Given that Beavers is a beach and reef setup that is fairly consistent, a run this poor is a bit of a bummer, but it happens. With the swell being so small and weak, and the quality so low, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing for most of the period.
Hang in there. Forecasts can change.
