Table - best surf conditions forecast for Beavers over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Beavers has in store for us over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a slow start. The water’s sitting at a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, about 64°, which is a nice little bonus. But for the first week, you’re looking at a frustrating run of small, weak swell and mostly dodgy winds. There’s a window that shows some potential on Thursday afternoon the 9th, with a glassy surface on a 5ft swell from the WNW, but the energy is only moderate (538) and the overall call is “expect good surf conditions,” so it’s probably the best of a quiet patch. Expect small, weak energy readings in the low hundreds for most of the first week. After that, from the 11th through to the 17th, it’s mostly onshore or poor conditions with tiny swell, so you’re looking at a solid 6 to 7-day gap where I wouldn't bother paddling out for anything special. It’s just one of those stretches.
Now, hold onto your board, because things get interesting heading into the second week. The standout action here is on Sunday the 19th. By morning, we’re seeing a solid 4ft swell rolling in from the SSE, and the energy kicks right up to a strong 1158. That’s proper groundswell with a very long period of 16 seconds, so the shape will be there, but at a beach-and-reef setup like Beavers, those long-period waves can throw a bit of a curveball. The wind is light and cross-onshore in the morning, so it won't be perfect, but it’s clean enough. By afternoon, the swell picks up to 5ft and the energy jumps to a whopping 1582, though the wind swings to a moderate cross-shore from the west at 12 mph, which will put a bit of a chop on it. This is the best on offer across the whole 16 days, but with that long period, it’s a spot where the setup might have the wave breaking a bit too straight for some sections. Still, for size and grunt, this is the one to pencil in.
After that peak, we trail off again. Monday the 20th still has some decent muscle with 4ft from the SSE and strong energy (842), but the wind turns onshore. The rest of the week into the 23rd drops back down to small, weak, and onshore mush. Not much to get excited about.
So, bottom line: the first week is a bust, with a brief, glassy moment on the 9th. The real highlight is Sunday the 19th, especially if you can handle a bit of cross-chop for the extra size. It’s a long-range call, so keep an eye on it, but it’s got the best numbers by a long shot.
Stay salty,
Rusty
