Table - best surf conditions forecast for Beavers over the next 16 days.
The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—this outlook for Beavers is a bit of a slow burner. We’ve got a long stretch of pretty marginal conditions before a couple of sessions that might just be worth paddling out for. The water is sitting at 67.5°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, so at least you won’t need the thick rubber.
The first few days, from Saturday the 22nd through Monday the 24th of August, are looking poor. Swell is tiny at 1.3ft, mostly from the SSW or WSW, with weak energy (145–204) and not much push. Winds are light but onshore or cross-onshore, so it’s messy and small. Not worth getting wet.
Tuesday the 25th afternoon shows a bit of a lift—swell hits 4.6ft from the WNW, but the period is a short 6 seconds, so it’s fat and crumbly. The energy climbs to 274, and the wind goes cross-offshore from the NW at 12 mph, which cleans it up a little. Still only marginal, but you might find a few crumbly waves if you’re desperate.
Wednesday the 26th afternoon is where things start to look more interesting. Swell is 3.3ft from the S, with a 14-second period, giving it some proper groundswell shape. The combined energy jumps to 714, which is moderate to strong. Wind is light cross-offshore from the WNW, so it’ll be clean. That’s the first real standout of the forecast—not big, but decent quality.
Then we hit a bit of a lull. Thursday the 27th through Saturday the 29th of August sees swell dropping back to 2.0–3.0ft, with weak to moderate energy (137–497) and mostly onshore or cross-onshore breezes. Nothing exciting.
Sunday the 30th afternoon picks up a little with a cross-offshore NW breeze at 12 mph, cleaning up 2.6ft swell from the SSW at a 15-second period. Energy is 450. It’s tidy but still small.
Now, Monday the 31st of August afternoon is another standout. Swell hits 5.6ft from the WNW—getting into that size where it’s a bit much for beginners—but the period is only 6 seconds, so it’s short-period windswell. The magic is the wind: glassy, calm, 0 mph. Combined energy is 323, moderate. That’s clean, fun, and uncrowded if you time it right.
Tuesday the 1st of September is back to marginal with 3.3–5.2ft WNW windswell and onshore or cross-onshore wind. Not great.
Wednesday the 2nd of September afternoon is another good call. Swell is 4.9ft from the WNW, 6-second period, but the wind is cross-offshore from the NW at 9 mph. Energy is 335. It’ll be clean and punchy, but short-period and better for a bigger board.
Thursday the 3rd of September morning has 4.3ft WNW swell at a 9-second period, with light cross-onshore wind and energy of 719. It’s still marginal, but there’s some push.
Friday the 4th of September morning sees the biggest swell of the forecast—5.2ft from the WNW at a 9-second period, with energy jumping to 1059—strong energy. But the wind is onshore from the SSW at 6 mph, so it’s lumpy. That’s one for the experts if they don’t mind a bit of chop.
The best of the whole outlook lands on Saturday the 5th of September morning. Swell is 2.6ft from the S, with a long 18-second period—proper groundswell. Combined energy is 834, strong. And the wind is glassy from the SW at just 3 mph. That’s clean, lined-up, and perfect for a point or reef. Beavers is a beach and reef setup, so with that long period, look for the reef to really hold the shape. Crowds are possible here. This is the one to circle on the calendar.
Sunday the 6th of September fades back to 3.0–3.3ft S swell with onshore wind and moderate energy (642–668). Not worth rushing.
