The Lowdown
Alright, let me level with you, folks. Rusty here, and I've been staring at the charts for Haifa, and honestly, it's a tough stretch. We've got a solid 16-day window, but the first week and a half is a real desert. The swell is just too small and weak to get excited about, with the wind often messing up what little bit of wave there is.
So, where's the light? It shows up on Sunday, the 30th of August. We finally get a pulse of energy that pushes the combined energy to 106 (moderate), with a 3ft WNW groundswell. The water is sitting at 86°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. The morning session at BackDoor (Haifa) is the only thing worth paddling out for. The wind is a gentle cross-offshore breeze, keeping it clean. This is our one true standout, but it's not a classic. The swell is still small, so don't expect a hero session.
After that Sunday morning, it's back to the same old story. The rest of the first week and all of the second week is filled with tiny, weak swells, mostly under 2ft, and the energy drops right back into the single digits and teens. The wind is either onshore or cross-shore, creating chop. There are a few clean mornings, like on the 4th and 5th of September, but the waves are just too small to be fun. The forecast is pretty reliable for the near term, and it's not looking good. For a spot that's inconsistent at the best of times, this is a long, blank run. It's a tough one to call, but sometimes the ocean just doesn't deliver.
Rusty.
