Table - best surf conditions forecast for Nahum Sokolow (Nahariya) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking.
Honestly, mate, this stretch is a tough one. We’re looking at Nahum Sokolow in Nahariya, and for the first two weeks of this 16-day window, the surf is nearly flat and the conditions are consistently messy. The first chance for a wave worth paddling for doesn’t show up until Tuesday the 21st of July, and even then it’s pretty average. So you’re looking at a long, dry gap of about ten days with nothing really worth mentioning.
The water temperature at the start of the period is sitting at 82°, which is a touch warmer than what’s normal for this time of year – about 3° above average. Not crazy different, but you’ll notice it’s a bit of a warm bath.
The highlight, if you can call it that, surfaces around Tuesday the 21st of July into Wednesday the 22nd. The combined swell energy picks up to 135 on Tuesday afternoon, and then hits 211 on Wednesday morning – that’s moderate to moderate-strong energy finally showing up. The swell comes from the WNW pushing 4ft at 8 seconds. That’s a short period wind swell, so it’ll be a bit soft and won’t have the punch of a groundswell. The wind is cross-onshore from the WSW at 9 mph, so it’ll be a bit choppy with a crumbly face. It’s nothing special, but it’s the most energy we see in the whole outlook.
The break itself is a beginner-friendly spot, exposed to the west, and it’s fairly consistent. The optimum swell direction is from the west, so that WNW swell is close enough to be alright. Crowds can show up sometimes, so expect a few locals out if any size shows.
Don’t get too excited for the rest of the week after that – it drops back down into the small and messy zone again by Thursday the 23rd.
For now, if you’re really keen, pencil in the morning of Wednesday the 22nd of July. It’s the only time the numbers even start to get interesting. Otherwise, keep the board in the car and wait.
Rusty.
