The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – it's a grim stretch ahead for the Hofgil area (Ashdod). We're looking at a long, dry run with barely a ripple worth paddling for.
The next few days are a write-off. We've got tiny swell on the 28th of August, with a weak 1.3ft to 2.3ft from the northwest, but the wind is all over the shop – cross-onshore and onshore, making it choppy and messy. The combined energy is laughably low, bouncing between 8 and 77, so there's nothing to work with. This poor trend continues right through the weekend and into the start of the week. The water is a touch warmer than normal at 85.5°, but that's the only good news.
We finally get a brief window on Tuesday the 1st of September. The morning brings a light cross-offshore breeze from the NNE, which will clean things up. The swell is still tiny, just 2.6ft from the WNW, but the clean conditions are a welcome change. The energy is still weak though (74). It's surfable, but only just. The afternoon gets ruined by a strong NNW wind, so that window slams shut.
From Wednesday the 2nd of September onwards, we're back to the same story. Swell barely cracks 2.0ft, periods are short (4-6 seconds), and the combined energy stays in the single or low double digits. There are a few glassy mornings on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th of September, but with wave heights of 1.3ft to 2.0ft and no energy, it's just a flat, glassy pond. Not a single session in the whole 16-day outlook hits the mark.
This is a real bummer. The whole period is a bust. I'd say hang the board up for a couple of weeks and maybe check the forecast again later. Sometimes it just goes quiet like this.
