The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – it’s a flat spell coming up for Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi. The whole 16-day window is pretty much a write-off for any decent surf. Don’t get your hopes up.
We’ve got tiny swells rolling in, all around 1ft to 3ft from the NW or WNW, but the period is short – mostly 6 seconds, sometimes 7 or 8 seconds. That’s weak, wind-swell junk. The combined wave energy stays weak the whole time, reading between 10 and 81 – nothing with any punch. The morning of Monday the 12th looks glassy with the wind swinging SW at 3 mph, but even then the swell is only 2ft with a 6-second period and energy of just 23. It’s clean but tiny. Not worth paddling out for.
The only time the forecast even whispers “marginal” is on Sunday the 16th morning, Monday the 19th morning, and Thursday the 21st morning – but even then, the swell is still tiny and the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, making things messy. For the rest of the time, it’s consistently poor with cross-shore or cross-onshore wind, often 12 mph from NW or WNW, or light onshore breezes. The afternoons are all choppy. There are a couple of glassy moments on Wednesday the 13th morning and Sunday the 24th morning, but again, the swell is only 1ft to 2ft with short period.
The water is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year, sitting at 85°.
Honestly, there’s no standout day here. Nothing to recommend. This is a long flat patch. If you’re a beginner and just want to bob around in clean, knee-high slop, maybe Wednesday the 12th morning or Sunday the 24th morning are your best (least bad) bets, but don’t expect a wave. Over 8ft? Not even close – nothing is too big for anyone. The setup here is a sandbar beach break, and with the persistent onshore winds, it’s more of a kite-surfing setup than a surf one if you’re desperate for action.
Sorry, mates. It’s a blank run. Forecasts can change, but for now, leave the board in the car.
