The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you about what's cooking in the water over the next couple of weeks.
Overall, it's a pretty quiet picture. We're looking at a long stretch of small, weak surf with a lot of onshore chop. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 86°.
First up, Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi. This is a sandbar spot, fairly consistent, but it's not going to deliver much for a while. The first few days are a write-off. Saturday the 15th is a no-go with a light cross-onshore breeze and tiny 3ft swell from the WNW. The combined energy is a weak 51, and it's just poor. Sunday morning the 16th might be the best you'll see for a bit. We've got glassy conditions, a 3ft WNW swell at 8 seconds, and the energy bumps up to 91. It's still small and ordinary, but it's surfable. That's the only real window in the first week.
After that, it's a desert. From Sunday afternoon the 16th right through to Saturday the 23rd, we're looking at at least a week of poor surf. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, the swell drops to 2ft, and the period is short. The combined energy mostly sits below 30. It's a tough run.
There is a flicker of hope on Sunday the 23rd morning. Another glassy morning, with a 2ft WNW swell and a period of 7 seconds. The energy is 40. It's still ordinary, but it's the only other thing that even gets a "surfable" label. After that, it's back to poor conditions for the rest of the period, with a small bump in size on the 28th and 29th, but the wind is never right.
Honestly, the standout is that Sunday morning, the 16th. It's not a classic, but it's the one time the wind drops out and the swell is just enough to get a few little ones. For a beginner spot, it's the only real option. The crowds are often out here, so expect some company. Don't hold your breath for the rest of the window.
Rusty.
