The Lowdown
Alright folks, it’s Rusty. Let’s be straight with you. This stretch of water is looking pretty darn quiet for a good while. We’ve got a long, flat spell on our hands here at the start of the outlook. The waves are barely a ripple for days, with nothing but weak, short-period windswell trying to messy up a glassy sea. The energy is just not there. It's going to be a waiting game, and you're gonna have to be patient.
Looking at the whole 16-day window, the best bet seems to line up for the 15th and 16th of September. But here’s the thing, it still ain't breaking. We're looking at a long gap of really poor surf before things even get close to surfable. But when it does, there's a glimmer.
Okay, let's talk specifics. The main break everyone’s looking at is Hofgil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi. Early on, from the 2nd through the 14th, it's a whole lot of nothing. The swell is tiny, the period is short, and the wind is mostly cross-onshore, chopping things up. There’s a morning or two with glassy conditions, but with surf at 1ft to 2ft, you're just bobbing around on a lake. It's not surf, it's a swim. Don't even think about it.
Now, towards the end of the run, around the 15th and 16th, we finally see the swell trying to push up a touch. Still, we are only talking 3ft to 4ft, and the period remains short at 7 seconds. The 16th morning, the Wednesday, is the standout of the entire run. You’ve got a light breeze making the water glassy, with that sum swell at 4ft. It's not going to be epic, but it'll be your best chance at a clean, ridable wave. This is the one morning worth circling on the calendar.
The water temp is sitting around 85°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year. The crowds here are often, so be prepared for some company even on the small days.
After that little pulse, it's back to the poor stuff with cross-onshore winds messing it up again.
Honestly, this stretch looks more like a kitesurfing forecast than a surfing one. Keep an eye on that 16th morning, it's the only true glimmer in a bleak outlook.
Stay patient.
Rusty.
