The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, let's get into it.
Alright folks, it's a quiet spell on the horizon for the coming weeks. There are no standout swells coming our way, so we're looking at a long stretch of very small, average conditions. The first few days are a write-off, with nothing really happening until the morning of Monday the 27th, and even then it's not much to write home about.
The best we’ve got in this 16-day window, and I use the term “best” lightly, is Hof Gil (Ashdod) in the early mornings. The water temperature is sitting at a warm 84°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
On Monday morning the 27th, we’ll see a tiny WNW swell pushing in at 3ft with an 8-second period. The combined energy is weak at (130), and the real hero here is the light NNE cross-offshore breeze at 5 mph keeping it glassy. It’s small, but for a beginner or someone on a foamie, you might find a fun little wave.
Tuesday morning the 28th and Thursday the 30th offer similar potential for the dawn patrol. We’re looking at a small 2ft NW swell, but with glassy conditions (0 mph wind and 3 mph from the west respectively) it’ll be clean. The energy is very low, though, at (46) and (54) – think of it as a long boarding session or a chance to practice your pop-ups.
After that, it's a long stretch of small, choppy, and mostly poor conditions. The swell stays tiny, rarely pushing past 2ft, and the afternoons are consistently ruined by a fresh 12 mph NW cross-onshore wind that chops everything up. Towards the first week of August, the swell does bump up a touch to 4ft on the 6th, but that comes with strong 16 mph onshore winds, so it’s a messy, blown-out mess.
For the second week, from August 3rd onwards, the forecast looks grim. Small waves, poor conditions, and strong onshore winds dominate. It’s a blank run, and with the lack of consistency and quality in any of the recommendations, it seems this area is going through a typical flat spell. Don’t hold your breath.
That’s the picture. It’s a waiting game. Keep the board waxed, but maybe get the kite gear ready for the afternoon sea breezes. It’ll turn around eventually.
Rusty.
