Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi over the next 16 days.
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the next 16 days at Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi are looking pretty grim. We've got a long stretch of small, weak, and choppy waves ahead, so don't expect much quality.
We kick off on Wednesday morning, July 8th, with a tiny 4ft swell out of the WNW, but it's got a short period of 7 seconds and a cross-onshore wind from the WSW at 12 mph ruining any chance of clean waves. The combined swell energy is weak at 125. The water is sitting at 82°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. This pattern is set to sticky around for days, with surf heights barely scraping 3ft, and often dropping to 2ft most mornings. Winds are mostly light cross-onshore, which just keeps things choppy. The first four or five days are a total write-off.
Now, if you're an absolute beginner and just want to get wet, there are a couple of glassy mornings on Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th, with 2ft waves. It's flat, but at least the water will be like a mirror. Don't get your hopes up for any power, as the swell energy is weak (19 and 21).
The swell does try to pick up a little around Thursday, July 16th, with 3ft waves, but it's still a short period of 7 seconds and cross-on wind. The forecast calls it "marginal," which is generous. The only real standout in this whole outlook is the morning of Sunday, July 19th. The swell jumps to 4ft from the WNW, with a period of 8 seconds, and a much stronger wave energy of 161. It's still cross-on from the SW at 6 mph, but it's the biggest, most energetic swell of the period. It's still not clean, but it's the best of a bad bunch. After that, we trail off into nothing, with wave heights dropping to below 2ft for the final few days.
Honestly, for the next couple of weeks, this setup looks far more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. Keep the board in the car, but don't drive too far.
Rusty.
