Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what we’ve got on the cards for Hof gil (Ashdod). It’s a bit of a quiet stretch, so don’t go getting your hopes up for anything epic.
We’re starting off on Saturday the 11th of July, and honestly, the first week and a bit is a write-off. The swell is tiny, mostly around 1ft to 3ft from the WNW, and the period is short – only 6 to 8 seconds. That’s weak, disorganised energy. The wind is a real problem too, blowing cross-onshore or onshore from the NW and WNW at 9 to 12 mph, chopping up the surface. The water is a touch warmer than normal at 82°, but that doesn’t help the waves. There’s just nothing to ride here through the middle of July.
We hit a bit of a potential window on Thursday the 16th of July. The morning shows a glassy, calm wind, and the swell bumps up a little to 3ft from the WNW at an 8-second period. The energy is moderate. It’s still not great, but that glassy wind is a major positive – it’ll be clean. The waves are small and weak, but for a beginner-friendly sandbar, this is about as good as it gets in this run. It’s a “surfable but ordinary” kind of morning.
After that, we’re back into the doldrums. More of the same weak, short-period swell and choppy onshore winds. There’s another slight flicker on Saturday the 25th of July. The morning has glassy wind again, and the swell rises to 4ft from the WNW with a 7-second period. That gives us moderate energy. The waves will look a bit fuller, and with no wind, it’ll be clean. Still, it’s a short-period swell, so it’ll be a bit fat and lack punch. The afternoon gets wrecked by the usual NW wind at 12 mph.
If you’re a beginner and just want to get wet on a clean, small day, the mornings of Thursday the 16th or Saturday the 25th are your best bets. For anyone else, it’s a long, flat spell with only a couple of blips. This spot is exposed to the west, and we just aren’t getting the right push. The good news is it tends not to stay this poor forever, but for now, that’s the reality.
Rusty.
