Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next 16 days are a real struggle for surf around here. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak, and mostly messy conditions. The best I can say is that there’s a tiny window of opportunity, but you’ll have to be patient.
The overall pattern is one of persistent cross-onshore winds and tiny swell. The swell energy is consistently low, often in the teens and thirties, with a brief tick up to moderate energy (133) on Friday the 24th, but even then, the wind is onshore. The water temperature is 83° on the 10th, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
The only real standout, and I use that term loosely, is on Thursday morning, 16th July. The wind goes glassy, and the swell is a measly 3ft from the WNW with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 86. It’s not going to be pumping, but it’ll be the cleanest wave you’ll find in the whole period. The break is Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi. It’s a sandbar that’s fairly consistent, but crowds are often a thing here. Because the swell is so small and period short, it’s fine for beginners.
For the rest of the run, from the 10th up to the 16th, and then again from the 17th right through to the 25th, it’s a whole lot of nothing. The wind is almost always cross-on or onshore, and the swell rarely gets above 2ft. It’s a big gap of poor surf. The late window on the 24th and 25th sees a little more swell (3ft), but the wind is onshore, making it a choppy, blown-out mess. Not worth the paddle.
So, keep your expectations low. It’s a blank run for an area that can be tricky anyway. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a tough watch.
Rusty.
