The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get real about the next 16 days at the only spot the data cares about, Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi.
Honestly, it’s a grim run. We’re looking at a whole lot of nothing for the first few days. The wave energy is in the gutter, mostly weak readings between 3 and 99, and the swell is tiny. The whole setup is pretty flat.
Things do try to poke their head up around September 6th. Sunday morning we get a glassy session with 3ft of swell from the WNW. The combined energy climbs a bit to 72, which is still weak, but at least it’s surfable. The water is sitting at 85°, which is a touch warmer than normal – nice for the skin, but it doesn't fix the waves. The period is only 8 seconds, so it’s a short-period, weak little windswell. It wouldn't take much for it to get messy, but that morning glass is the best look we get for a while.
After that brief tease, it’s back to the choppy, cross-on shore rubbish for days on end. There’s another potential window on September 10th – Thursday morning. Another glassy start, 3ft swell from the WNW, but the energy is still weak at 64. By the afternoon the wind swings onshore and it gets messy again. The 11th and 12th of September offer more of the same: glassy mornings with tiny, weak waves (77 and 67 combined energy), then trashed by the afternoon. It’s all pretty ordinary.
The standout, if you can call it that, is that Sunday morning on the 6th. The glassy conditions are a major positive for a spot that usually gets hammered by the afternoon cross-onshore. The 3ft swell on the 10th and 11th afternoons gets more energy (107 and 99), but the cross-on wind from the NW just chops it all to pieces, making for poor surf. The swell direction (WNW) isn't a great match for the optimum W direction for the break either, which doesn't help.
There's a huge gap of flat to poor conditions after the 13th, with energy dropping back to single digits. The last gasp on September 16th has a clean, cross-off wind but with a pathetic 1ft swell. It’s not worth paddling out for.
Bottom line: This stretch is mostly a write-off. The only real chance to get wet is on the glassy mornings of the 6th, 10th, 11th, and 12th, but even then you’re clinging to tiny, weak windswell. If you’re a beginner, the 3ft on the 6th is fine, but the quality is barely there. There’s just nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
