Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight up: this stretch is flat and quiet for the Tel Aviv area. The main spot is Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi, a sandbar break that’s fairly consistent but beginner-friendly. Water temp is a warm 82°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
Over the full 16-day run, there’s nothing to get stoked about. From Tuesday July 7th through Thursday July 10th, it’s a total miss. We’ve got a weak swell around 3 ft, peaking at 4 ft, but the wind is cross-on or onshore, and the period is a short, crumbly 7-8 seconds. The combined energy is weak to moderate, between 107 and 147. Every session is “poor surf conditions.”
After that, from Friday July 10th onward, the swell drops further — 2 ft to 3 ft, with periods sinking to 6-7 seconds. The energy plummets into the teens and twenties. Most days have cross-on or onshore wind, and the wave comments are “poor” or “marginal” at best.
There are two brief windows when the wind goes glassy. Sunday morning July 12th has a tiny 2 ft swell from the WNW with a 6-second period and energy of 26 — clean but flat. Then Saturday morning July 18th has a slightly better 3 ft swell from the NW with a 7-second period and energy of 75. It’s surfable but very ordinary.
The rest is a long run of small, choppy, weak conditions. For a beginner wanting a light paddle in clean water, those glassy mornings might work, but for any real waves, it’s a bust. With the weak swell and cross-onshore winds on a beach break, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Keep watching — it tends not to stay poor for long.
Rusty.
