The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty.
Lookin' at the charts for the next couple of weeks, it's a pretty flat run here at Hof gil. We're talking about a long stretch of small, weak energy that's gonna struggle to break with any real push. The first week especially is looking grim.
Things kick off, or rather don't kick off at all, from Friday the 11th. For four straight days we've got nothing but tiny swell, under 2 ft, and pitiful combined swell energy – we're looking at values like 15 to 8, barely registering. The mornings do see a few glassy windows with those light NNE or offshore breezes, but there's just no power in the water. The afternoons get choppy as the NW wind picks up to 12 mph, but again, it doesn't matter when the waves are that small.
We finally see a slight pulse from the 16th through the 18th. The swell ticks up to around 3 ft from the NW, and the combined energy gets up to 126 early on Friday the 18th, which is still just moderate. The mornings stay glassy, offering the cleanest conditions we can hope for. But honestly, that 3 ft of weak, 7-second wind swell isn't anything to get excited about. It's surfable, barely, but it's really ordinary.
The most promising window arrives on Thursday the 24th of September. The morning brings a clean, glassy start with a 3 ft swell from the WNW and a period stretching to 8 seconds. That combined energy of 104 suggests a bit more zing in the water. The wind is light out of the NE – small craft offshore. It's the best setup of the whole period, offering the cleanest 3 ft waves you're going to see.
Beyond that, we're back to tiny, messy dribble all the way through the 26th. Water temp is about average for the time of year.
So the standout, such as it is, is Thursday morning the 24th of September at Hof gil (Ashdod) or Hof Hadromi. It's a sandbar break and has that exposed W exposure lining up with the best swell direction. The 3 ft will seem like a dream after the drought, and with that glassy NE wind, it'll look its best. For bigger days, this spot is best for beginners anyway, so that 3 ft is pretty user-friendly. The crowds are often there, but on a day like that, everyone will likely be out. It’s inconsistent and rarely offers anything decent, so when it does, you go.
Other than that, don't bother paddling out. This is a kite-forecast, not a surf one.
Rusty.
