Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dosim Beach over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s be straight with you – if you’ve got your hopes up for a cracking surf window at Dosim Beach over the next 16 days, I’m sorry to say it’s looking pretty grim. There’s not a single session in the whole run that I’d actually recommend paddling out for. The forecast is a long, flat stretch of poor surf conditions from start to finish, with the first decent opportunity just not showing up at all. That’s a solid 16-day gap, mate. For a spot like this, it’s not totally unusual to see a blank run like this, but it’s still a bummer.
The swell is tiny throughout – we’re talking wave heights barely making it past 3 ft in the early days, and then dropping off to 1 ft to 2 ft for the rest. The combined wave energy is weak, mostly sitting between 14 and 84, which is just a whisper of energy. The swell direction is consistently from the WNW, which is not ideal for this exposed break – it wants the swell from the WSW. The period is short, mostly 6 to 7 seconds, with a very brief bump to 9 seconds on the 15th of July, but that’s still not enough to get excited about. The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, often a moderate breeze, making it choppy and messy. Even on the morning of Sunday the 12th of July, when it’s glassy with barely a breath of wind, the swell is only 2 ft – too small to do anything with. The water temperature is 83°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only thing that’s slightly out of the ordinary.
Honestly, it’s a washout. If you’re desperate to get wet, you’d be better off with a bodyboard or a longboard for the absolute smallest of days, but even then, it’s a struggle. For the surfers among us, this is a skip. The only thing that might be worth a look is if the wind and swell line up better in the second week – but right now, the forecast is stubbornly poor. The waves are just too small, too weak, and the wind is working against us. Keep an eye on the charts, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
