The Lowdown
Alright, let’s talk this out in feet and Fahrenheit. It’s Rusty here, and the news for Dosim Beach isn’t any better in imperial. We’re looking at a solid two-week stretch of poor surf, no way around it.
From now until the 24th of August, it’s all quiet. The swell is tiny, running from about 1.0ft to 3ft, coming from the WNW or NW. The problem is it’s all short-period windswell, only 6 to 7 seconds, which means the waves will be weak and lack any punch. The combined energy figures are all low, mostly double-digit numbers, so there’s just no power in the water.
The wind is the main issue. It’s constantly cross-on or onshore, from the WSW, WNW, or NW. Even when the breeze is light in the mornings, like the 12th or 13th of August, the swell is too small to bother with. The water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year. This is a beginner spot, but with conditions this poor, it’s not even worth a paddle. Honestly, with the steady onshore wind and choppy water, this is looking like a much better bet for kite surfing than for us surfers. It’s a real blank run.
