The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: the next 16 days at Dosim Beach are lookin’ pretty grim for anyone who wants to get a proper wave. We’re talkin’ a long, dry stretch with barely a pulse of energy all the way through.
Right now, water temps are a balmy 86°, which is a solid 4° warmer than usual for this time of year. That’s the one standout—the ocean feels like a warm bath. But that’s where the good news ends.
The first few days are a total write-off. Wednesday morning is glassy and clean, but the swell is a measly 2 ft from the WNW with a weak 8-second period, and the combined energy is a pathetic 33. It’s not even worth paddling out for. The wind picks up in the afternoon, switching to a 12 mph cross-on from the NNW, choppin’ up the surface. That pattern repeats right through the weekend: small, weak, messy. Thursday, Friday, Saturday—mornings might look glassy, but the swell is 1 ft to 2 ft with combined energy in the teens. It’s flat, mate.
Next week doesn’t get any better. Monday the 14th through Thursday the 18th, the swell stays tiny. Tuesday the 15th morning sees a slight uptick—2 ft from the WNW, 7 seconds, combined energy climbs to 46—but the wind is a cross-on, and the call is only “marginal.” Not enough to get excited about, and it fades fast.
The second week is a total bust. The swell drops to 0.7 ft and 0.3 ft, with periods of 4 to 6 seconds. Friday the 18th through the 24th, the combined energy barely hits double digits. The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, and the only thing worth noting is Sunday the 20th morning, when we get a clean, cross-off breeze from the NE at 16 mph, but the swell is still only 2 ft with a weak 6-second period. That’s a kite-surfing breeze, not a surfing wave.
Bottom line: there’s nothing here that qualifies as a standout. Dosim Beach is a beginner spot, inconsistent, and always crowded, but right now it’s not even breakin’ with any quality. The whole 16-day window is a gap of no real surf. If you’re desperate for a splash, the water’s warm, but don’t expect to ride anything. Forecasts can change, but as it stands, this is a blank run.
Rusty.
