The Lowdown
Alright fellas, Rusty here. Let’s talk about Dosim Beach.
Gotta be straight with you – the next couple weeks are a real test of patience. There’s a long, long gap of poor conditions before we even get a sniff of a rideable wave. The water's a touch warmer than normal at 81°F, so that’s one small win.
From the 14th all the way through the 24th of July, it’s flat and choppy. The swell is tiny, mostly under 3 feet, with short periods of 6 to 8 seconds. The wave energy is low to moderate, and the wind is always blowing the wrong way – onshore, cross, or cross-onshore – just messing it up. Even a glassy morning on the 19th only brings a 2ft swell. It’s clean, but there’s nothing to ride.
The only realistic chance to surf comes on the 25th of July, Saturday morning. The swell bumps up to 5ft from the WNW, with an 8-second period and moderate energy. The wind is light and cross-shore from the SW, so it should be decently clean. It’s still a marginal call, and the period is short, so don’t expect world-class waves, but it’s the best of a bad bunch. Sunday the 26th morning is also barely worth a look with a 4ft swell and light onshore breeze.
That’s it. A single morning on the 25th is your window. The rest of the 16 days are a blank. For a beach break like Dosim, quiet spells like this are just part of the deal.
