Dosim Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ at Dosim Beach over the next couple of weeks.

Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough stretch. We’re looking at a long, frustrating gap of no decent surf for the first week. From now until the 24th of July, it’s all tiny, weak, and messy. The swell is barely there, with combined energy readings stuck in the doldrums (below 100). The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, chopping up anything that tries to form. You’d be better off leaving the board in the car.

The first real glimmer of hope pops up on the morning of Saturday the 25th of July. The swell picks up a touch to 4 ft from the WNW, with a period of 8 seconds and combined energy climbing to 128 (moderate). The wind is a light cross-onshore, so it’s not perfect, but it’s the first time all week we’ve got a wave that’s worth paddling out for. That said, the surf is still rated as marginal, so keep your expectations in check.

After that, things get a bit more interesting but still not great. The morning of Monday the 27th of July sees a similar 3 ft swell from the WNW, period 8 seconds, and energy at 142. The wind is a gentle cross-onshore, so it’ll be a little bumpy but at least rideable. The afternoon of that same day has the best energy of the whole forecast: 4 ft from the WNW, period 9 seconds, and combined energy hitting 197 (moderate). But the wind shifts to a moderate cross-onshore, which will put a chop on the face.

The standout window, if you’re desperate, is the morning of Thursday the 30th of July. We get glassy conditions with a 2 ft WNW swell. The period is short at 6 seconds, but the clean, smooth surface will make those little waves feel a whole lot better than they look. The same goes for the morning of Friday the 31st of July – another glassy morning with tiny 2 ft waves.

Honestly, there’s no true standout session here. The swell is too small and the wind is too often rubbish. This is a beach break, and with the swell mostly coming from the WNW, it’s not doing us any favours. The water temp is sitting at 82°F, which is about 2°F warmer than average for this time of year – feels like a warm bath, but the waves are a cold shower.

Given the size and conditions, this is a stretch for beginners only, and only on the glassy mornings. For anyone else, it’s a frustrating wait. Dosim Beach is known for being inconsistent, so a blank run like this isn’t out of the ordinary. Forecasts can change, but for now, it’s a lot of watching and waiting.
