The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s look at what’s on the menu for Dosim Beach over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. The forecast is showing a long, dry spell with nothing but poor surf conditions for the first week and a half. We’re looking at tiny, weak swell (combined energy readings in the single digits to low teens) with periods of 4 to 6 seconds. That’s just wind chop, not real surf. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, which is blowing out what little bump there is. There’s a few mornings with glassy conditions, but with waves only around 1.0ft to 1ft, there’s nothing to ride. It’s a real bummer.
The water temperature is a touch warmer than normal, coming in at 86°, which is a couple of degrees above the usual for this time of year. Feels nice for a swim, but not for surfing.
We’re in a real waiting game. It’s not until Sunday, August 30th, that things start to look even slightly interesting. The morning of the 30th, we get a little bump in energy (combined energy hits 66) with a 3ft swell from the WNW, but it’s still a short period of 8 seconds. The wind is light cross-onshore, so it’s only rated as marginal. This is the only time in the whole 16 days that even gets a nod, but it’s not anything to get excited about.
Honestly, there’s no standout session here. The whole period is a washout. For a break that’s already inconsistent, this is a particularly blank run. The small 3ft swell on the 30th is the best of a bad lot, but with the wind and low period, it’s not worth paddling out for. You’d be better off finding a pool or a river mouth that might pick up a tiny bit of that WNW energy, but even that’s a long shot.
Keep your board in the car, but don’t hold your breath. Forecasts can change, but this one’s looking grim.
