The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
Straight up, it’s a quiet stretch for Dosim Beach. The forecast is a bit of a bummer – we’ve got a real dry spell with no solid surf on the horizon. There’s a long gap of poor conditions right through the end of July and into August with wind either onshore or cross-shore, making it choppy and messy.
The first real moment where things might look up is on Friday morning, 31 July. The wind goes glassy, dead calm, and the swell direction is WNW at 2 ft with a period of 8 seconds – still a short period, but the clean conditions will make it surfable for a beginner. The combined energy is weak (58), so don’t expect much push, but the glassy surface is a genuine treat. That’s your best shot in the early part.
After that, we’re back into a long run of poor surf with strong onshore winds and low energy swells under 3 ft. The next standout after that is a ways off, on Friday morning, 7 August. The wind goes glassy again, flat calm, with a WNW swell of 3 ft and a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy starts to creep up to moderate (102), so there’s a bit more life in the water. It’s still ordinary, but that’s as good as it gets.
Then another gap until Saturday morning, 8 August – glassy again, but the swell is down to 2 ft and energy is weak (28). Not much to write home about. And finally, Sunday morning, 9 August – another glassy morning, but the swell is tiny at 1.0 ft and energy is almost nothing (11).
So, the standout windows are the glassy mornings of Friday 31 July, Friday 7 August, and Sunday 9 August. The best of the bunch is that Friday 7 August session – it’s got the most energy and the cleanest surface. That’s the one to pencil in.
Dosim Beach is a beginner break, and it’s inconsistent, so it’s prone to these quiet spells. Keep an eye on it – forecasts can change, and it won’t stay this flat forever.
Rusty.
