Alright, listen up. Rusty here, and I’ve been staring at the charts for Dosim Beach. I won't sugarcoat it, it's a bleak outlook for the next couple of weeks. We're looking at a long stretch of small, weak, short-period swell from the WNW, and the wind is just terrible, blowing cross-onshore or onshore almost every day. The water's about 81°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that's about the only interesting thing.
For the first week, from Friday, July 3rd through Thursday, July 9th, it's a waste. Tiny waves, mostly under 3 feet, with a short period of 6 to 8 seconds. The combined swell energy is low to moderate, the best it gets is on Tuesday morning with a weak 172, but the wind ruins it every time. Dosim is an exposed beginner spot, but there's no point even looking at it with these conditions. With all that cross-onshore wind, it looks more like a spot for kite surfing than for a paddle. Every session is marked as "poor surf conditions."
Into the second week, from Friday, July 10th through Saturday, July 18th, the story is the same: weak swell and bad wind. There are a couple of mornings that stand out, but only because of the wind. On Sunday, July 12th, and Monday, July 13th, we get those glassy conditions with tiny 2-foot waves. The energy is pathetic – 29 and 20 – but with the wind totally off, it’ll be perfectly clean for a longboard or a learner to get a few silky little rides. Those are the only bright spots, and they get blown out by the afternoon onshore.
On Tuesday, July 14th, there's a small bump in size, back up to 3 feet with a slightly better 8-second period. The morning is a gentle cross-shore, which is at least usable, and the combined energy hits 128 – the highest we see. It’s not going to be pumping, but it's probably the most punch you'll feel.
Then on Thursday, July 16th, we finally get a "marginal" call. The morning has a light cross-onshore wind on a 2-foot, 7-second swell. It's not good, but it’s at least closer to something you could actually surf.
So, the long and short of it is this is a big, empty gap. No standouts. The consistency is awful, the quality is poor. For a spot like Dosim, it usually doesn't stay this flat for long, but for these 16 days, we're mostly watching the chop. If you're desperate, those glassy mornings around July 12th and 13th are your only real shot at clean conditions, tiny as they are. Otherwise, leave the boards in the shed and wait for a better forecast.
Rusty.
