The Lowdown
Right then, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the 16-day window for Dosim Beach.
Honestly, I’ve got to be straight with you – there’s nothing on offer here. The whole 16-day stretch is a flat spell. Not a single recommendation to get excited about. The swell is tiny, barely a ripple, with the combined wave energy staying weak all the way through, sitting at just 5 (lowest). That’s about as poor as it gets.
The first few days, from Friday the 4th right through the weekend, we’re looking at waves around 1ft to 3ft, but the wind is onshore or cross-shore, and the period is short, around 5 to 7 seconds. It’s all messy and weak. The water temperature is a notable 86°F with an anomaly of 4°F above normal, so much warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s the only thing worth noting.
Tuesday morning the 8th has a moment of glassy conditions, but with only 2ft of weak, short-period swell, it’s not going to break cleanly. You’d be floating about. Sunday the 13th and Monday the 14th also have glassy mornings, but again, the swell is just 1ft. It’s a beautiful, calm ocean, but there’s no surfable energy.
The end of the window, around the 18th and 19th, still shows nothing over 3ft and the wind turns back onshore. The combined energy barely cracks 40 to 50. For a beach break that’s exposed to a WSW optimum swell direction, and we’re getting tiny, short-period pulses from the WNW and NW, the setup just isn’t happening. It’s a long blank run, and honestly, for this area, it’s not that unusual when the swell window is quiet. We just need to wait for the next system to line up. Forecasts can change, so don’t write it off completely, but for now, leave the boards in the shed.
Rusty.
