The Lowdown
Rusty here again. Let’s get real about Dosim Beach for the next couple of weeks. It’s a bleak stretch. We’ve got long gaps of tiny, weak swell and the wind is almost never your friend. The combined swell energy is mostly weak (51 and below early on), so you’re not getting any push.
Starting Saturday, 29 August: forget it. A 2ft WNW swell with a short 8-second period and a moderate cross-shore breeze will chop it all up. Afternoon brings a 3.6ft windswell with a fresh cross-onshore. No good.
Sunday, 30 August, we see a bump to 5.2ft from the WNW, but the period is still short at 8 seconds. The energy hits a moderate 344, but the wind is a gentle cross-onshore, leaving it lumpy. That’s right on the edge for beginners, but the chop is ugly.
Monday, 31 August, drops to 3.3ft with a 8-second period. Morning has a light cross-shore with a slight chop. Energy falls to 110. Still poor.
From Tuesday, 1 September, through Monday, 7 September, it’s a dead zone. Swell never gets above 2.6ft and the period stays between 5 and 8 seconds. Most days have a cross-onshore or onshore breeze. There are a couple of glassy moments on Thursday morning, 3 September, and Saturday morning, 5 September, but the swell is tiny (1.3ft to 2.3ft) with weak energy in the teens to low 30s. You’d need a longboard and no expectations.
Thursday, 10 September, offers a glimmer. A 2.6ft WNW swell with an 8-second period and energy of 73. The morning has a light cross-onshore with small ripples. It’s still barely a 1 out of 10. Friday, 11 September, is similar with 2.6ft and a 7-second period. That’s the best we get, and it’s not saying much.
After that, from Saturday, 12 September, it’s back to tiny 1.3ft to 1.6ft mush with no power.
For a spot that’s inconsistent, always packed, and for beginners only, this stretch looks more interesting for kite surfing when the wind is up. If you catch a glassy morning on a tiny wave, you might find a knee-high roller, but there are no standout days here. This kind of blank run is just how it goes sometimes around here.
