The Lowdown
Gutted, folks. I’ve combed through the entire 16-day window for Dosim Beach, and I’ve got to be straight with you: there’s nothing rideable on offer. The forecast is a flat, choppy mess for the foreseeable future. We’re looking at a full stretch with no good surf options, which is a real bummer.
The whole run is plagued by tiny, short-period swell – we’re talking 1ft to 3ft at best, and the period never gets above 7 seconds. That’s just windslop, not surf. The combined energy figures are all in the weak range, from a low of 9 up to a high of 68, which tells you there’s just no push behind any of it. On top of that, the wind is mostly cross, cross-on, or straight onshore, which is going to leave the surface chopped up and messy. There’s a brief moment on Monday morning, August 10th, where the wind goes glassy and calm, but the swell is only 2ft with a 6-second period, so it’s still not going to break with any kind of shape. It’s just not worth paddling out for.
The swell direction is consistently from the WNW, while the optimum for this spot is WSW, so it’s just coming from the wrong angle to do anything good. The consistency is listed as "inconsistent" as well, so even the small hopes are few and far between. This looks like a blank run that’s pretty normal for the area when the angle and the energy are this poor. It won’t stay like this forever, but right now, you’re better off finding something else to do. The water temp is bang on average for this time of year, but that’s little consolation when you’re bobbing around on a glassy, flat ocean.
With the persistent onshore wind and these tiny, weak waves, the setup at Dosim Beach honestly looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. You’d get more fun out of that.
