The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break it down. Dosim Beach is looking at a long stretch of flat, weak waves over the next sixteen days, from July 20th to August 4th. The water’s a touch warmer than usual at 29°, so it’s comfortable, but that’s about the only good news.
The first week is a total washout. From Monday 20th July onward, the swell is tiny, 0.4 to 0.7 feet, from the WNW, with a short period of 5 to 8 seconds. The wave energy is low, between 14 and 49 (moderate wave energy), and the wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, making it choppy. The wave comment just says “poor surf conditions.” The one exception is Saturday 25th July morning, when the swell hits 1 feet from the WNW, period 8 seconds, and energy reaches 142 (moderate). The wind is light and cross-shore, so it’s a bit cleaner. But it’s still classed as “poor surf conditions.” That’s the best of the bunch, but it’s not a standout.
After that, it’s a long gap. From Tuesday 28th July through to August 4th, the waves stay tiny, 0.5 to 0.8 feet, with weak energy (19 to 64). The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, keeping the water messy. The wave comment is consistently “poor surf conditions.” The last day, Tuesday 4th August morning, has a 0.5 foot WNW swell with a light cross-shore wind, but it’s still a no-go.
So, what’s the best on offer? Only the Saturday 25th July morning, with 1 feet WNW swell, a light cross-shore wind, and moderate energy. But it’s still poor. For beginners, the swell never gets above 2 feet, so it’s safe, but there’s nothing to ride. For experts, it’s a total waste of time. The consistent lack of swell and the onshore wind make this spot more suited for a picnic than a surf. If you’re really keen, try the 25th, but don’t hold your breath.
