Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dosim Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a tough stretch ahead. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple to get excited about for the first two weeks. The water’s sitting at 83°F and running a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, which is nice for a dip, but not for surfing.
The first real glimmer of anything rideable doesn’t show up until Thursday, July 16th, and even then it’s a bare whisper – just a marginal 3ft from the WNW with a short 8-second period and a combined energy of only 91. The wind is light cross-onshore, so it’s messy. It’s not a recommendation, just a heads-up that the blank run might be broken.
From there, it’s more of the same – tiny, weak, and mostly onshore or cross-onshore all the way through to Friday, July 24th. The swell barely cracks 3ft and the period stays short, mostly 6 or 7 seconds. The combined energy figures are all in the teens or low double digits, telling you there’s just no power in the water. It’s a frustrating wait.
Then, the outlook finally gets a pulse. On Saturday, July 25th, we see a bit of a jump. The morning brings a 4ft swell from the WNW, still a short 7-second period, but the combined energy climbs to 119 – that’s moderate wave energy. The wind is a light cross-onshore, so it’s not clean, but it’s a step up from the junk we’ve been looking at. The afternoon gets bigger, with 4ft from the W, but the onshore breeze kills it.
The best of the bunch, and the only true standout, looks like Sunday, July 26th. The morning session shows 4ft from the WNW with an 8-second period, and the combined energy is 173 – the highest we’ve seen by a long shot. The wind is light cross-onshore again, which is a shame because the swell is there. Dosim Beach is the only spot in the game, and it’s exposed to the swell, which is good, but it’s an inconsistent break and the crowds are always there. The swell direction is WNW, which is close to the optimum WSW, but not quite a perfect match. At 4ft, it’s a solid beginner-friendly size, but it’s not going to be a classic. The afternoon has the same height but goes onshore again, so the morning is your window.
So, to sum it up: you’ve got a massive gap of poor surf from the 11th through to the 24th. The only real chance to get wet on something with a bit of push is the morning of Sunday, July 26th. It’s promising, but with the inconsistent nature of the break and the crowds, it’s a bit of a gamble. Keep checking the forecast, but for now, maybe dust off the longboard and enjoy the warm water.
Rusty.
