The Lowdown
Alright, let's have a look at Dosim Beach for the next couple of weeks. To be straight with you, it's a pretty grim stretch of nothing. The whole 16-day window is a bust for any kind of decent surf. There's nothing worth getting wet for. The water temp is about 85°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
We start on Wednesday, August 12th with a tiny 1ft swell out of the WNW, with a short 6-second period. The morning has a light offshore breeze from the W at 3 mph, but the wave energy is so weak (15) it's barely a ripple. The entire first week is basically the same: the swell barely moves. You get a few mornings with lighter breezes, like Saturday the 15th with a light cross-shore from the SSW at 6 mph and 3ft swell, but it's still poor surf. The energy only just touches 103 on Sunday the 16th morning, which is still low, and the wind goes onshore or cross-onshore by the afternoon, killing any tiny chance. The period never gets above 8 seconds, so it's all weak, short-period windswell.
The second week doesn't offer any hope either. From the 19th right through to the 27th of August, it’s the same story. The swell is stuck between 1ft and 2ft, with the period grinding along at 5 to 7 seconds. You might get a glassy morning, like Wednesday the 26th with 1ft and glassy wind from the WNW at 3 mph, but there's no swell to work with. The combined energy sits in the pathetic teens and low twenties. Honestly, it’s a dead period.
Dosim Beach (Dosim-Beach) is an exposed spot, and it really wants swell from the WSW, but we’re only getting tiny, weak WNW pulses. It’s inconsistent at the best of times, and right now it’s not even breaking. For a beginner break that’s always crowded, there’s no reason to even drive past it. Don’t bother.
This kind of flat spell is pretty normal for the area – when it goes quiet, it can go real quiet. But forecasts can change, so keep one eye on it. For now, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
