The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's see what Dosim Beach has in store. I'll be honest, it's a bit of a dry spell we're looking at.

Right from the start, from Sunday the 19th through to the morning of Friday the 25th of July, it's basically flat. We're talking knee-high junk, 1 to 2 feet of wind swell out of the WNW with short periods around 5 to 7 seconds. The wind is onshore or cross-onshore from the W or WNW, blowing 9 to 16 mph, making a mess of it. The combined energy is weak, between 7 and 49 – not enough grunt to bother with. Even the mornings with lighter wind don't save it because the swell is just too small.

The one bright spot – and I mean the *only* one – is Saturday morning, July 25th. The swell pushes up to 3 feet from the WNW with an 8-second period. The combined energy hits a moderate 117. The wind goes light and cross-offshore from the S at 6 mph, which is a big positive for getting clean little waves. For a beginner break, this is the standout window. The water is sitting at a balmy 83°, a touch warmer than average, so boardshorts or a spring suit will do.

After that Saturday morning window, it's back to the same old story. From Saturday afternoon the 25th all the way through to Monday the 4th of August, we're looking at nearly 10 days of poor surf. The swell drops back to 1 to 3 feet, the period shortens, and the wind goes back onshore or cross-onshore from the NW, W, and WSW. Combined energy mostly stays under 100. There is one morning on Monday the 4th of August with glassy conditions, but the swell is a pitiful 1 feet – barely enough to stand up on.

Honestly, those afternoons with 12-16 mph onshore wind and choppy water might look more like a kiteboarding session than a surf. For the rest of us, pencil in that Saturday morning, July 25th as your best and pretty much only shot. After that, it's a long wait. Forecasts can change, so keep watching, but right now it's looking bleak.

Rusty.
