Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s chew through what’s on the menu for Anderson Street. I gotta be straight with you—this is a lean spell. There’s a big stretch of nothing solid, and the first real chance to get wet isn’t until a few days in.
The water temp is about 66°, running a touch warmer than usual for early July.
Sunday the 5th kicks off with a clean sky but only 2ft of swell from the SSW. It’s a long-period groundswell at 18 seconds, so there’s some push, but the combined energy is only 372—not much behind it. Wind is onshore from the SW at 9 mph. The call is “poor surf conditions.” No dice. That afternoon gets messier with a cross-onshore breeze.
Monday the 6th is more of the same: 2ft from the SSW, 16-second period, energy up to 429 in the morning. Wind is lighter at 6 mph from the SW, but still onshore. It’s rated as “marginal.” This sandbar is fairly consistent, but the quality is just not there. The afternoon turns choppy again.
Tuesday the 7th morning is your best shot in this whole forecast. Swell rises to 3ft from the SSW, still a long 18 seconds, and the energy jumps to 746—that’s a decent moderate push. Wind is light from the S at 6 mph, but cross-on, so there’s a little ripple. It’s still only “marginal.” For this fairly consistent sandbar, it’s the standout, but that’s not saying much. Crowds are possible here sometimes. If you’re itching, this is the time.
From Wednesday the 8th onward, it’s a slow fade. Swell hangs around 3ft to 3ft through the week, but the period drops, the energy fades, and the winds stay cross-on or onshore. By Friday the 10th, we’re down to 3ft from the SSW with a 15-second period and only 293 energy. It’s “poor” all the way.
The second week is weaker. From July 14th, the swell drops under 2ft, the period dips below 14 seconds, and the combined energy falls under 250. There’s a tiny bump on the 18th with 2ft from the SW and 321 energy, but the wind is cross-offshore or onshore, so it’s still messy. Nothing worth paddling out for.
If you’re a beginner, the 3ft on Tuesday the 7th is doable. For experienced surfers, there’s just not enough power or clean conditions. Honestly, most days here look more interesting for a kite than a paddle. This is a long dry run, but these stretches don’t last forever around here. Forecasts change, so don’t write it off completely.
Rusty.
