The Lowdown

Alright, let's be real here. Stoked to see you, but I've got some bad news. I've been staring at this forecast for Anderson Street and it's a proper write-off for the next couple of weeks. We are in for a long, flat, and bumpy stretch. It's one of those times where you might as well hang up the wettie for a while.

For the next few days, the swell is pretty much non-existent. We're looking at small, weak waves in the 0.6m to 0.9m range, but they're going to be completely ruined by constant onshore and cross-onshore winds. The water's going to be chopped up and ugly. The combined energy of all the swells is weak, mostly sitting between 209 and 528, which just means there's no grunt to any of it.

Even the mornings that look slightly better, like the 19th or 22nd, are still going to be too messy to really enjoy. It's small, it's weak, and the wind is just never going to be in our favor. This is a long stretch of "poor surf conditions" if I've ever seen one.

The only tiny glimmer of hope is the morning of the 20th when we see a bit of a pulse – a 0.8m SSW swell with the energy getting up to 446. But again, the wind will be blowing cross-onshore, so don't expect perfection. It's the biggest, most energetic swell of the period, but that's like saying it's the tallest midget.

Then it just gets worse. From the 21st through to the 1st of October, it's a 10-day stretch of pure disappointment. The swell drops off, the period shortens, and the wind stays mostly onshore. By the end, on the 1st of October, we're down to 0.4m and it's just a complete flatness.

For the most part, this looks like much better kite-surfing conditions than paddle surfing. With that persistent onshore wind and all that chop, the ocean is just going to be a washing machine. This is a bleak outlook, folks.

Rusty out.
