The Lowdown
Alright mates, Rusty here. Let’s break it down for Anderson Street. It’s a sandbar break that’s fairly consistent, but the next 16 days are looking skimpy. The water is sitting at 70°F, which is much warmer than average for this time of year, a nice surprise.
Right off the bat, Monday the 20th through Thursday the 23rd are all "poor surf conditions." Onshore and cross-onshore winds are ruining the party. Swell is small, around 2ft to 4ft from the SSW and S, with periods all over the place. The combined energy is moderate, hitting 464 on Monday afternoon and climbing to 713 on Thursday afternoon, but the wind is just not letting up.
Friday the 24th morning is the closest thing to a green light. Swell is 4ft from the S at 13 seconds, with a light cross-onshore breeze and combined energy of 1073 (moderate to strong). It’s only "marginal," but it’s the best looking morning of the first week. The light wind might give you some cleanish, fun walls if you’re keen.
After that, it’s back to the grind. The rest of the run through the end of July is poor or marginal, with onshore winds and choppy conditions. Saturday the 25th morning has a very long period 21-second groundswell at 3ft – that’s a lot of energy (935) for a tiny wave, and it’s going to be too straight for this sandbar, breaking fast and hard to line up.
The long-range stuff around the 4th of August shows a bit more size. Tuesday morning the 4th has 5ft from the S at 15 seconds, and the afternoon bumps to 5ft with combined energy of 1355 (strong). That’s a solid swell, but again, it’s onshore wind and marginal quality. It’s a promising signal over a week out, but don’t book the day off yet. For a sandbar, that 15-second period will mean better shape but longer waits between sets.
Honestly, there is no standout session in this entire 16-day window. The wind is the killer. If you’re desperate, Friday the 24th morning is your only real shot, and even then, keep expectations low. When the wind finally turns offshore, this spot could be a gem, but that’s not in this forecast. For now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty, signing off.
