Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anderson Street over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break it down. This 16-day stretch for Anderson Street is mostly a flat spell, with one brief, messy pulse of size.
The first ten days are a total washout. We’re looking at tiny 2 to 3 foot waves from the SSW, with the wind blowing cross-onshore or light onshore every day. The water is about 66°, which is normal for this time of year. The wave energy is low, barely registering. Everything is listed as “poor surf conditions” – it’s just not worth paddling out for.
The only real event happens on Sunday, July 19th. A new SSE swell rolls in, pushing 5 to 6 feet with a long 17 second period. That’s a lot of energy (2125-2250 reading). But the wind is cross-onshore from the WSW, and it’s called “marginal.” That’s a shame, because the direction is decent for this spot. For a beach break, that cross-shore wind will make it lumpy and hard to find a clean face. This is advanced surfer territory only. At 6 feet with a messy wind, it’s not a day for the beginners. The early morning might be the best bet before the afternoon breeze kicks up.
Monday the 20th holds similar size (5-6 feet dropping to 6 feet) but the wind stays cross-on from the south. The waves will be there, but the surface will be chopped. After that, Tuesday the 21st drops back to tiny, and the run of poor conditions continues right to the end of the forecast.
Honestly, if you’re a kite surfer, that Sunday and Monday look like a fun challenge with steady wind and some swell. But for a standard surfer, it’s a tough call. The 19th morning is the only real standout, and even that one is compromised. Keep it on the radar, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
