The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for Anderson Street over the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, it's a tough stretch. The forecast is showing a whole lot of nothing for the next week. We're looking at a solid gap of about 10 days with very little to get excited about. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 69°, but that's not going to make up for the lack of rideable waves.
The first glimmer of something comes around Tuesday the 21st of July. Early morning, we might see a 4 ft swell from the SSW (16 second period), with a light onshore wind. The energy is pulling through at a moderate 604 (combined energy). It's still gonna be pretty average, though. The wind stays light and onshore, so it won't be a complete mess, but we're still in "poor surf conditions" territory.
The Real Standout
The best of a pretty average bunch looks to be on Friday the 24th of July. The swell bumps up to 6 ft from the S (14 second period), and the energy jumps to a strong 1415 (combined energy). That's a lot of movement in the water. The problem is the wind. It's a gentle cross-onshore, which will keep things a bit choppy. It's a marginal call, but it's the biggest push of swell we've got. For experienced surfers only at that size, but if you're desperate, head out on Saturday morning the 25th when the swell is still 6 ft from the S (13 second period) and the wind is a light cross-onshore, a bit cleaner than Friday.
Honestly, for the entire 16-day window, Anderson Street isn't a spot I'd be rushing to. The set-up is a sandbar, so it's a bit of a gamble. The winds are rarely clean, and the swell is either too small or too messy. If you're a kite surfer, the gusty, choppy days with strong energy might be more your thing, but for a paddle surfer, this is a tough outlook.
Stay salty,
Rusty.
