The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window for Anderson Street is looking pretty bleak. We've got a long, dry spell ahead.

Right now, the water is sitting at 72°F, which is a whopping 6°F warmer than normal for this time of year. That's very unusual, and it feels like bathwater out there, but that's about the only exciting thing happening.

The forecast opens with a tiny 3 ft swell from the SSW on the morning of Saturday, August 1st, but it's onshore wind and the combined energy is low (261). The call is "poor surf conditions" and honestly, it's a no-go. This weak, poor-quality pattern just locks in. For the next couple of weeks, we're looking at tiny, onshore slop. Swell heights barely scrape 2 ft to 2 ft, the period is often short, and the wind is either onshore or cross-onshore, making it a messy, choppy mess. The combined energy values are mostly two-digit or low three-digit numbers, which is weak.

We do see a bit of a pulse around Saturday, August 8th, with some 2 ft swell and a longer period, but the wind is still onshore and the surf quality is pegged as "marginal" at best. It's just not worth the paddle.

There's a tiny flicker of hope on the 16th – Sunday, August 16th. The wind swings to a light cross-offshore from the north at 3 mph, and the report says "clean." The swell is 2 ft from the SW with a 14-second period, but the energy is moderate (235). While it's the cleanest we'll see, it's still a very small, weak swell. For a spot that's a sandbar and "fairly consistent," this is a long, quiet run. The setup really looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing given the persistent onshore wind and small waves.

So, to sum it up: there's nothing good to chase. The best you can hope for is a very small, clean wave on the 16th, but it's a long way off and the forecast is uncertain. Sometimes the ocean just takes a nap.
