The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about Anderson Street.

Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: it’s a slow run. There’s really no decent surf to get excited about for the first week and a half. The swell is small, mostly 1 ft to 3 ft, and the wind is almost always cross-onshore or onshore, which is killin’ any chance of clean waves. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing weird there.

From Thursday the 10th through to Tuesday the 15th, the story is the same: poor surf conditions. The swell period is long, 14 to 20 seconds, which would normally be a sign of quality groundswell, but the size is just too weak and the wind is messy. The combined energy sits in the low to mid hundreds (e.g., 245 to 477), tellin’ you it’s weak to moderate at best.

Wednesday the 16th and Friday the 18th show a slight flicker of hope. On Wednesday morning, we get a marginal call with a 3 ft SW swell at 18 seconds, and the combined energy bumps up to 369 – still not great, but the wind is a light cross-onshore, so it could be worth a look if you’re desperate. Then on Friday the 18th, the morning has some clouds, a light 3 mph onshore breeze, and a 2 ft SW swell at 19 seconds (energy 414). That’s a marginal one too, but the wind is nearly glassy.

Saturday the 19th morning also gets a marginal nod, with a 2 ft SW swell, 18-second period, and light onshore wind (energy 400). Again, not gonna set the world on fire.

Look, if I had to pick the best on offer, it’s that Friday the 18th morning. The swell is tiny but the wind is almost calm, so it’ll be smooth. The long period (19 seconds) means there’ll be long waits between sets, but the shape could be clean. It’s no standout, just the least worst.

Honestly, for the whole 16-day window, there’s nothing that screams “go now.” The swell is weak, and the wind is rarely your friend. For a beach break setup, this is a pretty bleak forecast. If the wind ever flips to offshore, it might be a different story, but as it sits, it’s a quiet spell. That’s just how it goes here sometimes.

Stay patient, keep an eye on the sky.

Rusty.
