Salt Creek Beach Park Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for our stretch of coast.

Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a slow start. The first few days are a bit of a write-off – small, onshore wind slop with not much push. The energy is just not there. It’s not until Sunday the 6th that things start to look interesting. That’s when a long-period groundswell from the S starts to show up, with swell heights around 6 ft and a period of 14 seconds. The combined swell energy is moderate to strong (1209), and the real kicker is the early morning light offshore wind from the NE. That’s going to clean things up nicely at Salt Creek Beach Park.

For Sunday morning, this is the standout. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. The swell direction (S) is off the optimum (SSW) for Salt Creek, but the long period will still wrap in nicely – it’s a beach and reef setup, so that long period should give some good shape. Expect glassy conditions with that light offshore breeze. It’s a fairly consistent spot, so you’ll find waves. It’s big enough for experienced surfers, maybe a bit much for beginners. Later on Sunday, the wind swings cross-onshore and the quality drops off.

Monday the 7th and Tuesday the 8th are messy with moderate onshore winds, keeping the surf choppy. The swell sticks around 6 ft to 6 ft, but the wind ruins it. Not worth paddling out.

Then, Wednesday the 9th morning is a real gem. The swell drops to 4 ft from the SSW with a solid 11-second period, but the wind goes glassy. Dead calm. The combined energy is moderate (566). For a morning session, that’s going to be buttery smooth, especially if you’re on a longboard or a fun shape. The afternoon turns to junk again, so get it early.

After that, from Thursday the 10th all the way through to the end of the forecast period, it’s a long, slow fade. The swell drops below 3 ft, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore. The energy readings are weak (down to 135 by the 16th). There’s a tiny bump in swell period around the 17th and 18th (20-22 seconds), but with only 1 ft to 2 ft of height, it’s just a long-period ripple. Not enough to surf.

So, the standout is Sunday morning, the 6th, for the best combo of size and clean conditions. Wednesday morning, the 9th, is the pick for smaller, glassy fun. The rest of the 16 days is a long gap of flat to poor surf.
