Table - best surf conditions forecast for Noosa - Alexandria Bay over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s goin’ on at Noosa – Alexandria Bay for the next couple weeks. It’s gonna test your patience a bit, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. The ocean’s got plenty of grunt early on, but the wind’s just not on our side. We’re seein’ a pulse of swell at 8ft from the SE with a 12-second period, and the combined energy is a hefty 1525 (moderate to strong). Problem is, that SSE wind at 19 mph is blowin’ side-shore, so it’s gonna be lumpy and cross-choppy. Water temp is 69°, about a degree cooler than normal for now, so don’t forget a thicker suit.
The whole Thursday and Friday of that first week (July 8th – 10th) are pretty average. The swell hangs around but that side wind just destroys the surface. By Saturday the 11th, the swell drops to 4ft from the SE, still a solid 11-second period, but the cross wind is makin’ it bumpy. Surfable, but nothin’ special.
The first real bright spot is Sunday the 12th of July. Finally, some clean conditions. We’ve got a 3ft swell from the ESE, 11-second period, combined energy at 216 (moderate), but the wind swings offshore from the W at 9 mph. That’s the ticket – clean lines. It’s a small day but for quality, that’s your best early call. Crowds are possible, so be ready to share.
Monday the 13th, the swell drops to 2ft, and while the morning has light WSW winds, it’s just too small to get the heart goin’.
The next proper standout is on Thursday the 16th of July. This one’s got some backbone. Swell jumps to 8ft from the SSE, period of 8 seconds, combined energy at 597 (moderate to strong). But the wind is glassy – dead calm from the S at just 3 mph. That’s gonna give you clean, punchy waves. It’s a short period, so not that long groundswell feel, but for a beach it’ll offer steep, fun walls. At this size, beginners should stay on the sand.
Then we get into the heavy stuff. Friday the 17th of July sees a massive 10ft swell from the SE, period 9 seconds, combined energy at 1341 (strong). That’s expert territory only. The wind is cross-offshore from the SSW at 12 mph, so shape might hold, but it’s gonna be heavy. The afternoon wind cranks to 25 mph, so the early session is your only shot.
The following Saturday and Sunday (18th – 19th July) are blown out with strong winds and messy cross-chop, even though there’s plenty of swell energy.
There’s a quiet mid-week spell, then another chance on Tuesday the 21st of July. Morning delivers a clean 3ft swell from the SE, 11-second period, with a gentle cross-offshore breeze from the SSW at 9 mph. Combined energy at 243 (moderate). It’s small but clean – a nice break from the wind.
After that, it fades to tiny, poor surf through the 23rd. So here’s the plan: Sunday the 12th is your clean small-wave winner, and Thursday the 16th is the standout for bigger, glassy action. Anything after the 17th is either too big or blown out. Choose wisely.
