The Lowdown
Alright crew, Rusty here. Let’s break down Playa Varesse. The outlook for the next couple of weeks is pretty flat and uninspiring. This spot gets some exposure, but the conditions are just not coming together for a proper surf until the very end. We’ve got a long dry spell of small, messy swell and average winds. The water temp is about average for the time of year.
The first real chance of a wave is Monday the 27th of July. Monday morning will see a clean moderate offshore wind from the SW, with waves around 4ft from the East and a solid 11-second period. That’s a nice little groundswell and the offshore wind will make it clean as a whistle. The energy will be moderate, around 326. This is the best window, no question.
That good run continues into Monday afternoon, with a gentle offshore wind from the WSW keeping the 4ft East swell at 11 seconds clean. Still a solid option with a moderate energy of 286. The offshore wind is a massive plus here.
The last day on the charts, Wednesday morning the 29th of July, has glassy 3ft waves from the ESE with an 11-second period. It’s small but glassy, and the energy is moderate (264). It’s surfable but nothing to get worked up about. The glassy conditions are a big positive.
The rest of the period is small, weak swell (ranging from 2ft to 4ft) with cross-shore and onshore winds. While some days have clean cross-offshore winds (like the 21st and 22nd of July), the swell size and period are too small to be any good. The 24th of July is a complete write-off with onshore winds near 40 km/h. A total mess.
So, the standout is definitely Monday the 27th. The offshore wind and 4ft East swell will be the best we see. The 29th offers a tiny glassy session if you’re keen to get wet. For a beginner-friendly spot, the quality is really lacking through this period, but you never know with forecasts. Keep the 27th on your radar.
Rusty.
