Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa Varesse over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's get into it, folks. This local spot is a consistent beginner-friendly zone, and it's pretty exposed to whatever swell comes through. The water's sitting around 50°, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you might not need the thickest suit.
Honestly, it's a tough watch for the first week or so. There's a big lull from the 9th through the 11th of July. The wind is all wrong – cross and cross-onshore – and the wave energy is low (90). You get a tiny glimmer on the morning of Sunday the 12th of July. It's small, only about 0.7m, but the swell direction is good from the ESE with a solid 13-second period. The wind goes light cross-off from the SSW, and it'll be clean. The combined energy is just 289, so don't expect much power, but it's the best of the early run. Crowds might be around, but it's nothing crazy.
After that, the next week and a half is basically all cross, cross-on, and strong winds ruining any small swell that shows up. There's a pulse of bigger surf around the 20th and 21st of July – about 6ft and then 7ft – but the period is short and the wind is messy, making for ugly chop. Even the bigger swell on the 22nd and 23rd of July, pushing 8ft with some serious weight (combined energy over 1200), is shredded by fresh cross-shore winds. At that size, with lumpy conditions, it's way too much for beginners and just a pain for everyone else.
The only other real stand-out is late in the run. On the afternoon of Thursday the 24th of July, there's a nice 6ft swell from the SSE with a long 12-second period, and finally the wind goes cross-off from the south. It'll be clean, but the energy is still high at 1013. That's your one to look out for, but it's over a week away, so stay hopeful but cautious. For the rest, it's a long dry spell with no real options. That's just how it can be.
Rusty.
