Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa Varesse over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming up for Playa Varesse.
Right now, things are pretty flat and quiet. The first few days have a bit of waist-high swell showing, but the wind is all wrong – cross-off and cross – and the whole setup just looks messy. That small 3ft ESE swell on Sunday the 12th with a 13-second period sounds good on paper, but the energy readings are weak (417 – 412) and the report says it's marginal. Not worth rushing out for. We’ve got a long gap of poor to ordinary conditions stretching from Monday the 13th right through until Saturday the 19th. There are a few spots with offshore wind on Sunday the 19th, but the swell is tiny and short-period. It’s a bit of a dry spell.
The first real standout doesn’t show up until Thursday the 23rd of July. That afternoon things suddenly turn on. The wind goes glassy, and a 5ft ESE pulse rolls in with a short 6-second period. The energy jumps to a solid moderate 541, and the report says “expect good surf conditions.” That’s the one to circle. For beginners, 5ft is about the upper limit, so take it steady, but the clean, glassy surface is a winner.
Then, Friday the 24th throws up another option. The afternoon brings a 6ft swell from the south at 8 seconds, with energy climbing to 687. That’s getting solid – definitely for experienced surfers only at that size. It’s cross-shore wind with light ripples, so it’ll be a bit bumpy, but there’s power there.
But the true standout of this whole outlook is Saturday the 25th of July. Saturday morning is glassy again, with a 5ft south swell and a huge energy reading of 835. That’s strong wave energy. The report says “expect very good surf conditions.” That’s the session. Clean, glassy, proper size. The afternoon drops off a bit but still has a glassy 2ft, 13-second groundswell from the south – nice and clean for a smaller board.
Sunday the 26th keeps things going with glassy to clean conditions and chest-high waves in the 5ft to 5ft range, good energy in the 375 to 530 range. A nice end to the week.
So to sum it up: you wait through a long, flat, windy first week, but from Thursday the 23rd through Sunday the 27th, it lights up. Best day is hands down Saturday the 25th – glassy, 5ft, and pumping.
Rusty.
