Alright, let’s talk Totoralillo. We’ve got a couple weeks ahead and it’s gonna be a little up and down.
Sunday morning the 5th kicks off with a 4ft SW groundswell – long period at 16 seconds, so those lines are gonna have some push. Water temp’s 56°, about 2° cooler than usual, so it’s a bit on the crisp side. The energy’s solid at 1126 (moderate to strong), but we’ve got a cross-on wind from the SSW at 6 mph messing with the surface, plus some tide issues. Monday afternoon the 6th is the real gem – winds go glassy, just 3 mph from the WSW, and you’ve got 4ft of clean 15-second swell. That’s Totoralillo (Chile) at its finest, and the energy’s dropped to 735, meaning better shape. Tuesday the 7th is glassy again but smaller at 3ft – still fun for a cruiser. Wednesday the 8th the cross-on wind comes back and the swell fades.
Thursday the 9th gets a fresh bump to 5ft–6ft from the WSW (12 seconds), but the wind’s still cross-on from the SW. Friday the 10th stays messy. Saturday the 11th drops to 3ft and poor. Sunday the 12th has a 5ft short-period afternoon wave but only 8 seconds and onshore – choppy and weak.
Into the second week: Monday the 13th has a bigger 6ft SW swell with 14 seconds, but the cross-on wind keeps it from being clean. Wednesday the 15th is flat and poor. Thursday the 16th morning is a sleeper – cloudy, a cross-off breeze from the N at 9 mph cleans up a 4ft WSW swell (10 seconds). Might be worth a paddle. Friday the 17th afternoon is another glass-off, 4ft of 15-second swell, glassy from a light WSW breeze. Saturday the 18th afternoon stays clean with a cross-off and 4ft of 15-second swell – both those afternoons are solid.
Then Monday the 20th brings a heavy 8ft SW swell with 14 seconds. Energy spikes to 2527 (strong). That’s for experts only. Monday afternoon the wind switches to a cross-off from the E at 6 mph and the report says excellent for experienced surfers. If you’re keen on a big challenge, that’s your day.
The best clean calls are Monday the 6th afternoon, Friday the 17th afternoon, and Saturday the 18th afternoon. Those are the ones to circle.
