Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming our way. We’ve got a bit of a slow start, but there are some real gems later on if you’re happy to wait.
The first few days are a write-off, honestly. Thursday the 2nd and Friday the 3rd are a washout with strong onshore winds and messy, blown-out conditions at The Cove. The water temp is sitting at 54°F, which is pretty much average for this time of year, so nothing unusual there.
Saturday the 4th morning is where we finally see a glimmer. We’ve got a clean 5ft swell from the west with a moderate offshore breeze. The combined energy is moderate at 499. It’s not pumping, but it’s the first clean window we get. After that, things drop off again with small, weak surf and cross-shore winds through Sunday and Monday.
Now, a standout to circle on your calendar: Tuesday the 7th morning. It’s small, only 3ft, but the wind is glassy—dead calm from the ESE at 3 mph. That’s a major positive for cleanliness. The swell is from the north with a 9-second period. It’s a small window, but for a glassy, peaceful session, this is your best bet in the first week.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th mornings are also clean, with modest 6ft west swells and glassy conditions. Consistent, clean, and easy paddling. Good days for an intermediate.
Then we get into the serious stuff. Friday the 10th morning is the real standout of the whole outlook. The Cove is waking up to a solid 10ft groundswell from the WNW with a long 11-second period, pushing combined energy up to a very strong 2116. The wind is glassy. This is an expert-only session. The period is long enough that it’ll wrap in nicely at this reef setup, but the size means it’s only for the experienced crew. This is a proper, high-quality day.
Saturday the 11th afternoon is also worth a mention: 7ft from the WNW, 8-second period, light offshore breeze, and clean conditions. Combined energy is 647. A good session for strong intermediates.
After that, the wind turns a bit onshore again through the middle of the following week, but Tuesday the 14th morning and afternoon look promising. Clean, cross-off winds, a solid 7ft WNW swell on the 9-second period in the afternoon, and moderate combined energy of 782. That afternoon session on the 14th is a solid pick.
Wednesday the 15th morning is clean with a 6ft WNW swell and 591 combined energy. Consistent and clean.
Things fade out toward the end of the 16-day window with weaker, onshore winds and shorter-period swell.
So, to sum it up—the best on offer is Friday the 10th morning for the experts, and Tuesday the 7th morning for a glassy, small-wave session. Keep your eyes on the 14th afternoon, too.
Rusty, signing off.
