Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tamaris over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's look at what's on offer for Tamaris over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I've gotta be honest with you – it's a quiet spell. For the whole 16-day window, the surf is tiny. We're looking at a long stretch of nothing special, with a few flickers of life right at the end. The first half of the period is pretty much a write-off for any kind of decent wave.
From Wednesday 8th of July right through to the morning of Wednesday 22nd of July, the swell is barely a whisper. Heights are mostly below 2 ft with combined swell energy barely cracking double digits. You'll see a few mornings with glassy conditions, like Thursday 9th July morning with a bit of a 1 ft SSW groundswell and a period of 11 seconds that'll look clean but just doesn't have the grunt. The wind will be light and offshore from the north, making it look pretty, but you'd be hard-pressed to get a ride. The coming Sunday morning, 12th July, sees a little bump of 1 ft from the SE with an offshore northerly wind – again, clean but gutless. It’s not until the afternoon of Wednesday 15th July that we see the biggest combined swell energy of the whole run at 34 (still in the weak range) with a 3 ft SSE windswell, but a strong onshore wind from the SSE at 15 mph will make a mess of it.
The only real standout, and I say this carefully because it's still small, is Thursday 16th July morning. We get a 3 ft south swell with a period of 6 seconds and a light cross-offshore breeze from the WNW. The wave energy climbs to 83 (weak), but the conditions look clean. For the first time in the outlook, you might actually find a little ripple to push you around. But don't get too excited – it's still small and the period is short, so it'll be a bit crumbly.
After that, it's back to flat or choppy, tiny stuff. The morning of Wednesday 22nd July shows a 2 ft WSW swell with a moderate cross-offshore wind – another possible but marginal window. Water temp for the first break mentioned (Wednesday 8th July afternoon) is 70°, which is about average for the time of year.
So, if you're desperate, keep an eye on the morning of Thursday 16th July for a clean session on the small stuff. Otherwise, don't expect much. The break itself is a reef set-up, fairly consistent, and a beginner spot, so when it's on, it's friendly. Just not this time around.
Rusty.
