Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tamaris over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight up – the next 16 days are a real write-off for Tamaris. There’s nothing good on offer, so if you’re hanging for waves, you’re better off keeping the board in the shed.
Right now, Saturday 11 July morning, there’s a tiny 1ft swell from the ESE with a weak energy reading (2), and a cross-off breeze from the ENE at 6 mph. The water is sitting at 74°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – over two degrees above average. But that’s about the only interesting thing. The surf is poor. Saturday afternoon is onshore junk. Sunday 12 July morning (12 July) brings glassy conditions with a whisper of a 0.3ft SE swell (energy 3), but it’s essentially flat. Sunday afternoon goes onshore again.
Monday 13 July through to Saturday 26 July is just a long stretch of flat to tiny, poor quality surf. Every day shows either onshore, cross-on, or cross-off winds, with swell heights barely nudging above 1ft to 2ft at best. The biggest bump comes on Monday 20 July morning, with a 2ft WSW swell and a clean cross-off from the NNW at 25 mph. Energy sits at 35 – still weak. By that afternoon, the swell hits 4ft from the W, energy 99, still in the weak range, and it’s clean but it’s not surfable in any meaningful way for a reef break. The period is short (5–6 seconds), so there’s no power or shape. After that, it drops away again.
There’s a gap from Tuesday 21 July through to Friday 24 July with basically nothing. A few little bumps on 22 July and 23 July but with choppy cross-on winds, no good.
Saturday 26 July morning (July 26) brings a 2ft SW swell with a 19 mph cross-off from the NW, energy 32 – still weak. Clean, but it’s not going to get you excited. The whole forecast window is a bust.
For Tamaris, a reef break that’s fairly consistent but just not getting any love from the swell or the wind, this is a blank run. It happens. The pattern is poor, forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to paddle out for.
Stay patient,
Rusty.
