The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this forecast for the Varazze area is a tough one. We're looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple for the next several days.
The first solid chance we get is on Sunday, July 26th. The morning session is your only real window. We’ve got a small southeast swell pushing in at about 4ft, with a very short period of 5 seconds. The combined energy is weak at just 99, so it’s not gonna have much push. The real saving grace is the WSW wind, almost glassy at 3 mph. That’s going to make the surface clean, but the waves themselves will be ordinary and gutless. The afternoon turns to a messy cross-onshore, so don't bother.
Then, on Monday, July 27th, we get a pulse of longer-period groundswell from the SSE. The swell height drops to 1ft, but the period jumps to 10 seconds. Combined energy is still low at 66, but that longer period means the waves will be a bit more lined up and have better shape. The morning offshore wind from the NNW at 9 mph will be key for keeping it clean. Still, this is tiny stuff, better for a longboard or a funboard.
Honestly, for the whole 16-day run, the best call is that Sunday morning. It’s not great, but it’s the only time the stars align even a little bit. The water is a balmy 84°F, which is far warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won't need a wetsuit.
