The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Santa Agostino has in store for us over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, it's a bit of a grim outlook for Santa Agostino. We're looking at a long stretch of flat or near-flat conditions for the better part of the first week. There's nothing worth paddling out for until the morning of September 11th, and even then, it's not exactly lighting the world on fire. There will be a gap of about 4 days with no surf to speak of at the start.
The only real chance to get wet comes in two brief windows. Friday morning, September 11th, we might see some knee-high swell at 3ft from the SSW, with a short period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is weak at best (67), and while the wind will be light and cross-offshore from the east, keeping it clean, the waves will be small and pretty ordinary. It's surfable, just don't expect anything special.
The other little pulse shows up on Saturday morning, September 19th. We've got a similar size again, 3ft from the SSW, with a slightly better period of 7 seconds and a bit more energy (89). The morning looks glassy with light easterly winds, which would make for clean conditions. Again, it's small stuff.
Then on September 20th, Sunday morning, we see the biggest swell of the whole forecast—4ft from the SE with a period of just 6 seconds. The combined energy bumps up into the moderate range (144), which is something, but the period is short. It's glassy in the morning with light winds from the east, so the waves will be clean if you're keen on a small, weak day.
For a spot like Santa Agostino, a fairly consistent intermediate-level break, this is a tough run. Don't let it get you down; these flat spells don't usually last forever, and the forecasts can always shift.
