Table - best surf conditions forecast for Reve Havn over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab a coffee and listen up, it's a bleak one.
To be honest, looking at the next two weeks, we’ve got a prolonged flat spell on the cards. The first real chance for a surf is a long way off, and honestly, it’s not looking great. The only spot with any data is Reve Havn, a beach and reef setup better suited for the advanced crew. The water temperature here is sitting at 57°, which is pretty much bang on average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The first few days are a write-off. Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th are flat and choppy with cross-onshore winds, giving us nothing. The combined swell energy is pitiful, reading between 47 and 204 – weak and unappealing. We get a slight break in the wind Tuesday the 14th with some light offshore breezes from the WNW, but the swell is a tiny 2ft with a period of only 6 seconds. It’s clean, but there’s just no push; the energy is down at 47 to 61. Still, *poor surf conditions* is the phrase.
The middle of the week is more of the same. Wednesday the 15th brings a 2ft WNW swell, but the period is a long 11 seconds, which is promising for shape, but it’s tiny and the wind is cross-onshore. The energy is a weak 76. Thursday and Friday are completely flat again, with energy dropping to 3 and 2. Honestly, it’s a desert out there.
We get a little spike of energy on Saturday the 19th, but it’s the wrong kind. A 6ft NW swell with a 6-second period hits, but it’s accompanied by a fresh 22 mph cross-onshore wind. The combined energy jumps to 235, but it’s all wind chop. The 20th of July is the only real standout in the whole period, but it’s a tricky one. The swell builds to 7ft from the NW with a 8-second period, and the energy kicks up to 556. That’s a lot of juice. But the wind is a fresh 19 mph cross-onshore. For most, this is a messy, blown-out mess. For an advanced surfer at Reve Havn, this could be the only session worth paddling out for, but be prepared for a battle. The size is definitely in the "experts only" zone.
The rest of the week after that fades quickly. The 21st has a 3ft NW swell with light winds, but it’s weak. The 23rd sees a 28 mph cross-onshore gale with a 10-second period, making it a total mess. The 24th has a 4ft S swell with a 6-second period, but the energy is 300 and the wind is cross-onshore. The final few days of the forecast are a repeating pattern of small, weak swells and poor wind. The 25th of July has a 6ft NW swell, but again, blown out.
The bottom line: if you’re a beginner, stay home. If you’re an expert, the 20th of July is the only window, and it’s a gamble. The rest is a flat, windy wasteland.
