Table - best surf conditions forecast for Redcar Scars over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's talk about the surf for the next couple of weeks. I'm looking at the only spot on the list, Redcar Scars, and I'll be honest with you, it's a tough watch. This reef is inconsistent and really only for beginners on a good day, and that's not what we've got.
The whole 16-day stretch, from now through July 24th, is showing "poor surf conditions" for every single session. There's no one day that jumps out as a winner. The swell is tiny, mostly 1 to 3 feet, and the wind is nearly always onshore or cross-onshore, which will just chop it up. The combined wave energy is weak, barely getting into triple digits (21 to 131) for the whole period. The water temp is about 59°F, which is about normal for this time of year.
We do see a slight bump in size around the 18th and 19th of July, with waves hitting 5 feet from the north-northeast, and the energy picks up a bit (131 and 122). But the issue is the wind. On the 18th, we've got a fresh cross-onshore breeze at 19 mph, so it'll be lumpy and messy. The 19th is a little better with a moderate breeze, but it's still cross-onshore. For a shallow reef like this, onshore wind is a killer for a clean wave. The swell period is short (5-6 seconds), so there's no real power.
The only window that looks even remotely interesting is the morning of the 24th of July. We get a little 2-foot swell from the north with a light offshore wind from the west-southwest. The forecast says "clean." That's the best you're going to get. The energy is still very low (41), so it'll be tiny, weak, and inconsistent, but it might be the only time you could get a dribbly little wave without getting blown off it. The afternoon of the 24th also has light winds and clean conditions, but the swell is still tiny.
So, bottom line: there's no real standout. The whole run is a dud. If you're absolutely desperate, the 24th of July morning is your best bet, but keep your expectations on the floor. For a break that's already inconsistent, this is a pretty normal quiet spell. Forecasts can change, but right now, it's a no-go for anything worthwhile.
