Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming our way for Redcar Scars.
Honestly, it’s a grim outlook, mate. The whole 16-day stretch is one long, flat spell. There’s barely a ripple to get excited about, and the wind is almost always wrong. You’re looking at a solid run of poor surf conditions from now all the way through to the end of the window.
Starting off Monday the 6th, it’s flat. Just 0.3 ft of northerly junk with a short 6-second period. The combined energy is a pathetic 2, and with a 12 mph cross-off wind, it's not worth a second look. Tuesday morning the 7th is more of the same – 0.3 ft and a 19 mph cross-off breeze. Tuesday afternoon sees a tiny bump to 2 ft from the northwest, but it’s a 4-second period, so no power behind it.
The rest of that first week is a write-off. Wednesday the 8th, Thursday the 9th, Friday the 10th – all showing less than 2 ft of swell, with the wind mostly cross-shore or cross-onshore. We get a moment of glassy conditions on Thursday morning the 9th, but with only 1 ft on offer and energy at 18, you’d just be bobbing around.
Through the second week, the swell tries to build but never gets clean. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th push up to 5 ft from the NNE, with moderate wave energy in the 186-250 range. But it’s all under a 12 mph cross-onshore wind, making it choppy and messy. For a beginner, that 5 ft is already pushing the limit, but with the wind, it’s just ugly. It looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
From the 15th onward, it drops back down to below 3 ft, with the same story: cross-onshore winds and poor conditions. The only slight change comes on the 21st of July, a Tuesday, where we see a 12-second period swell from the NNE at 1 ft, suggesting some longer-range energy. But with a 22 mph cross-shore wind, it’s blown out.
There are no standouts here, no sessions to aim for. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Keep an eye on it, forecasts can change, but for now, don't bother getting the wetsuit wet.
Rusty.
