Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rade de Croisic over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a good long look at the Rade de Croisic forecast. I gotta be straight with you – this is one of those outlooks where we have to be patient. The next couple of weeks are a mixed bag, and the surf is going to be a challenge, not a gift.
For the first eight days, from now right through to the 15th of July, it’s flat and frustrating. Swell is tiny, mostly 0.7 ft to 1 ft, with an energy reading struggling to get past a weak 30. The wind is all over the shop – onshore, cross-off, you name it – but honestly, with no height there’s nothing to ride. It’s just a big, clean-looking lake most mornings, but with zero push. That stretch is a write-off for surfing.
Things finally start to show a pulse around Thursday the 16th of July. The swell nudges up to 4 ft from the west, but the energy is still moderate at 62 and the period is a short 5 seconds – that’s windswill. The wind is howling onshore from the WNW at 19 mph, making it a messy, blown-out affair. Not one for the log.
Then we get into Friday the 17th of July. This is the only real standout in the whole run, but it comes with a huge health warning. The swell climbs to 5 ft from the WSW with a period poking up to 8 seconds. The combined energy jumps to a strong 288. That’s real power. But here’s the catch: it’s accompanied by a fresh to strong onshore wind hitting 22 mph. This is going to be a big, wind-chopped, unruly mess. For the experts only. The 5 ft height and those strong winds will make it more of a windsurfing or kiting day than a clean paddle session. The sea temperature is about average for this time of year, so no surprises in the water.
After that, it’s a slide back into mediocrity. The 18th and 19th drop off quickly, with the swell sinking back to 4 ft and then 1 ft, and the energy draining away to nothing. The 20th of July onward is just brutal onshore stuff in the 22 to 28 mph range with tiny, weak swell. There’s a little spike on the 22nd of July with 4 ft and moderate energy (220), but again it’s pinned by fresh onshore wind. Not worth the drive.
Best bet? Honestly, if you’re desperate, watch Friday the 17th of July for some raw, onshore power, but only if you’ve got a step-up board and don’t mind a fight. The rest of the 16 days is a bust.
Rusty.
