Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rade de Croisic over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get this straight. I’ve looked at the whole 16-day window for Rade de Croisic, and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this is a tough stretch. The forecast is basically a series of poor surf conditions with no real standout sessions. We’ve got a long gap here with nothing worth paddling out for.
The first proper recommendation doesn’t show up until Thursday, July 10th, and even then, it’s tiny. The water is sitting at a very unusual 71°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – feels like bathwater, but don’t let that fool you.
Thursday, July 10th morning is about as good as it gets early on. Rade de Croisic is seeing a tiny 1ft swell from the west, with a period of 10 seconds. That’s a weak groundswell, and the combined energy is only 29 – barely a whisper. The wind is offshore from the east at 9 mph, which will keep the surface clean. But honestly, it’s too small to get excited about. The afternoon goes onshore, killing it.
Friday, July 11th morning offers a similar story: 1ft west swell, 10-second period, and clean offshore wind from the east again. But again, it’s just not enough push.
The pattern continues through the weekend and into the next week with tiny, weak swells and poor wind. The combined energy values stay in the pathetic range (under 100) until Wednesday, July 23rd, when we finally see a bump. The morning shows 4ft from the west, 6-second period, with a combined energy of 118 (moderate energy). The wind is cross-onshore from the northwest at 9 mph, which will leave it choppy and bumpy. It’s a raw, messy wave, not a clean one.
Thursday, July 24th sees similar energy, but the wind is stronger and more onshore, making it a write-off.
Friday, July 25th morning is the most interesting, but it’s a long way off. The swell hits 4ft from the west-southwest, with a 7-second period, and the combined energy jumps to 161 – the strongest in the whole forecast. That’s a moderate, punchy swell. The problem is the wind is cross-onshore from the northwest at 12 mph, which will bring choppy, bumpy conditions. It’s not clean, but it’s the biggest pulse we see.
If you’re a beginner, that 4ft might be a bit much, and with the chop, it’s not ideal. For experts, it’s the only window where there’s enough power to play, but the wind is a letdown.
Overall, this is a bleak outlook. The consistent story is poor surf, with small, weak swells and onshore or cross-onshore winds ruining any chance of quality. The only real highlight is the Friday, July 25th morning pulse, but it’s a long way out and the wind is a major caveat. Honestly, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on most days, especially when the wind is up.
Keep the board in the car, but don’t hold your breath. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a long wait for a messy wave.
