Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rade de Croisic over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – the Rade de Croisic is properly flat right now. For the next two weeks, the surf is barely a whisper. The wind’s mostly onshore and there’s no size to speak of.
We kick off on Wednesday, the 8th of July, with nothing. We’re talking a 1.0ft W swell with a 10-second period, and onshore wind from the west at 12 mph. The combined energy is a measly 20, and it’s listed as poor surf. The water is a warm 69°, which is a huge 5° warmer than normal for this time of year, so you’ll be toasty while you sit on a flat ocean.
Thursday the 9th is the same story. That swell stays at 1ft from the W, 10-second period. The morning has a cross-offshore breeze from the NE at 9 mph, so the surface will look clean, but there’s no power. Combined energy is 32.
Friday the 10th morning has offshore wind out of the east at 16 mph, cleaning up that 1ft W swell, but there’s a risk of thunderstorms. Period drops to 9 seconds. The afternoon goes back to onshore.
Saturday and Sunday, the 11th and 12th, are tiny. Saturday has 1.0ft and 1.0ft, periods of 8 and 8 seconds, combined energy in the teens and twenties. Sunday is even worse at 0.7ft with combined energy of only 6. Clean conditions, sure, but you need waves to surf.
Now there’s a long dry spell. From the 13th to the 20th of July, it’s pretty much dead. Swell heights range from 0.3ft to a max of 4ft, but those 4ft days on the 15th and 16th come with onshore wind and short 5-7 second periods. The best combined energy in that stretch is 50 on the 15th – weak. It’s a real test of your love for the ocean.
We get a small pulse on Tuesday the 21st. A 4ft swell from the WSW with a 6-second period, cross-onshore in the morning with a light NW breeze at 6 mph. Combined energy is 89. Wednesday the 22nd is the best we’ll see. The morning has a 4ft swell from the WSW with a 7-second period, a light cross-onshore NW wind at 6 mph, and the combined energy finally gets going at 111. The afternoon sees that energy jump to 167, but the onshore west wind at 16 mph ruins it. Wednesday morning is the only real window, and it’s one for experienced surfers only in a beach setup.
After that, it fades back to nothing on the 23rd. It’s a grim outlook, mates. For the rest of the run, there’s no decent swell or wind in sight. Might be time to pick up a new hobby until the charts look better.
Rusty.
