Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pourville over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here. Look, I've gotta be straight with you – this Pourville stretch is looking pretty grim for the next couple of weeks. We've got a long gap of flat, choppy nothingness ahead. The first real chance you'd even bother paddling out is, well, there isn't one that I'd recommend.
The water temp is sitting at 66°F, which is a whopping 6°F warmer than usual for this time of year. That's very unusual, feels more like a bath than the English Channel.
Over the next few days, we're looking at a whole lot of weak, short-period windswell. Friday the 10th kicks off with tiny 0.3ft waves from the west with a 9-second period, but a 12 mph cross-shore breeze from the NE has it all chopped up. The combined energy is only 3 – that's barely a ripple. Saturday the 11th isn't any better; 2ft at 4 seconds and a 16 mph cross-shore wind. The afternoon sees a jump to 5ft, but it's messy cross-on wind at 25 mph, so forget it. This pattern just repeats all the way through. We get some 5ft to 5ft pulses in the afternoons around Sunday and Monday, but the wind is always on it, making it lumpy and poor. The energy levels finally hit three digits (136) on Saturday afternoon and again Monday afternoon (160), but it's all junk.
There's a brief moment on Thursday morning the 16th with a 2ft swell and a light 9 mph cross-off breeze from the east, leaving it clean. But the swell is tiny with only 23 energy. Not worth the wetsuit. After that, we get a bunch of stormy, onshore days with rain and thunderstorm risks. The swells stay weak, under 3ft, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-shore. The 25th of July has the biggest swell of the whole run – 3ft at 6 seconds from the west with 76 energy – but it's cross-on and choppy. Still poor.
Honestly, for this 16-day window, there are zero standouts. If you're a kitesurfer, the afternoons with that 5ft chop and strong onshore wind might look fun, but for a paddle surfer, it's a total write-off. It's one of those stretches where the surf just goes to sleep and the wind has its way. Things can change, but right now, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
