Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you — if you’re looking for a proper surf window around Port Louis over the next 16 days, you’re going to have to dig deep for a bit of patience. The whole stretch is flat to near-flat, with only the tiniest pulses of energy showing up. The combined energy readings are all weak, mostly single or low double-digit numbers (3, 1, 1, up to 33), so there’s nothing pushing any real power. The wind is offshore from the east and southeast the whole way, which would be a dream if there was any swell to work with.
The first real suggestion of something rideable comes on Wednesday the 8th of July afternoon, when a small bump shows: 1 ft from the northeast with a 12-second period — that’s a long-period groundswell, which would usually mean some shape, but the energy is only 23, so it’s weak. Still, with a clean offshore breeze, you might get a few knee-high little runners. Don’t expect much more than that.
The next better moment arrives on Saturday the 11th of July afternoon: same northeast-northeasterly direction, 1 ft, 13-second period, energy up to 33. That’s about as good as it gets here in the whole outlook. Still tiny, but with offshore wind all day, it might be worth a paddle if you’re desperate. The spot itself (Port Louis) is rated for beginners but inconsistent, and crowds are possible sometimes — for waves this small, you’ll probably have it to yourself.
After the 11th, it trails off again. The 13th and 14th of July have little 0.7 ft pulses from the north, energy in the single digits, and by the 15th and 16th it’s back to 0.3 ft and 0.3 ft. The whole run is basically a flat spell with a couple of tiny breathers. I wouldn’t call any of it a standout.
So, if you’re hanging for a wave, the best bet is Saturday the 11th of July afternoon — 1 ft from the north-northeast, clean offshore wind, and the longest period of the window (13 seconds). For a beginner spot that rarely holds much, that’s your moment. Everything else is a whole lot of nothing.
Rusty.
