Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Moule over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's be straight up about what we’ve got on the cards for the next couple of weeks at Le Moule.
Looking at the whole 16-day window, I gotta tell ya, it’s a tough stretch. Every single session in the forecast is marked as poor surf conditions, and there’s no standout day where you’d want to drop everything and paddle out. The wind is locked in from the east, blowing cross or cross-onshore for almost the entire period, which is making a mess of what small swell we have. The wave energy is weak to moderate at best.
Even now, starting on Saturday the 11th of July, the morning has some east swell at 7ft, but with a short period of 8 seconds and a moderate cross-shore wind from the east at 16 mph, it's going to be lumpy and hard to surf. A beginner would be in over their head at that size; the 7ft mark is only for the more experienced, but with the chop, it's not fun for anyone. The combined swell energy is 542 (moderate). The water sits at 83°F, which is about average for the time of year.
We slide into Sunday the 12th of July with the swell dropping to 6ft, but the wind and conditions stay the same—just messy. This pattern of similar waves and cross-shore winds holds firm day after day. Monday the 13th picks up a bit of a fresher breeze at 19 mph from the ESE, making the water even rougher.
As we move into the middle of the week, the swell bottoms out. By Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of July, we’re looking at a 5ft swell with a period dropping to 7 seconds. That’s weak, short-period windswell; not the kind of energy that holds a good line. The wave energy is down in the 188 to 200 range (weak).
There's a little bump in size around the weekend of the 18th and 19th of July, with the swell rising back up to 7ft on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, and the energy climbing back over 500 (moderate). But don't get excited—the wind is still cross or cross-onshore at 16-19 mph, so it's going to be a lumpy, choppy mess. Perfect kite-surfing conditions, not so much for paddle surfing.
The final week of the outlook from Monday the 20th of July onward sees the swell slowly fade away. We get a glimmer of something a bit cleaner on Wednesday the 22nd of July afternoon when the wind turns cross-offshore for a second, and the swell is down to 4ft. It’ll be clean, but tiny—wave energy is a weak 150. A longboard might find a few, but there's no power.
Saturday the 25th of July brings a slight uptick to 6ft again, but at a short 7-8 seconds and with a fresh breeze, it’s back to the choppy grind.
Honestly, there’s no good surf to recommend in this whole 16-day run. A blank stretch like this is just how it goes here sometimes. Forecasts can change, but based on what’s in front of me, I’d leave the boards in the van.
Rusty.
