### Imperial
Right, let's get into it. The water is a warm 84°F, which is running about 1°F warmer than normal for this time of year—just a touch of extra bathwater warmth kickin' around.
Alright, Friday the 3rd kicks things off with a 3ft SSW groundswell, but a howling 40 km/h offshore is blowing the tops off. The waves will be perfect and clean, but you'll be fighting like a demon to get out. The wave energy is moderate (454).
Saturday the 4th is more inviting. The wind drops to a fresh 30 km/h offshore in the morning. Same 3ft swell, but the energy bumps up (514). It's clean, lined-up, and ready. This is the reliable, everyday good option for the intermediate surfer.
The real power surge starts Monday the 6th. The energy climbs into the strong range, hitting 779 Monday morning, then peaking Monday afternoon with a very long 20-second period and energy over 1000 (1055). The wave height stays a manageable 3ft. This is a period where you get a heavy, long-period push without the size getting out of control. But the wind shifts cross-off in the afternoons, spoiling the glass a little.
Tuesday the 7th morning is the first real standout for the experienced crew. A 4ft swell with an 18-second period and a strong 40 km/h offshore. The energy is over 1000 (1083). That's proper, powerful reef surfing. Not for beginners—that size and period on a reef with a stiff breeze is serious.
The whole first week is a dance between awesome swell and almost-perfect wind conditions. Mornings are the cleanest with the offshore, but that fresh breeze is a workout.
Heading into the second week, the swell backs off. From Thursday the 9th through the 13th, it's 3ft to 3ft. The wind stays favourable—mostly fresh offshore in the mornings. Fun, clean, but nothing huge. The energy sits in the moderate zone (300-500).
We hit a soft spot on the 14th and 15th. The swell drops to a tiny 2ft to 2ft, and the wind cranks to 40-45 km/h straight offshore. That's just too much wind for too little wave. A couple of flat, blown-out days.
Then, the saving grace. Saturday the 18th morning. The swell is only 2ft from the SSW, but the period jumps to a solid 18 seconds. The wind eases to a moderate 20 km/h offshore—finally, paddle-friendly conditions. The energy reads a solid 542, and the forecast says "expect very good surf conditions." This is the jewel of the whole 16-day window. Small in height, massive in quality. Glassy, lined-up, world-class reef. It’ll be a popular one for sure, but worth the crowd. That's your day.
So, for the big wave adrenaline, pencil in Tuesday the 7th morning. For the cleanest, most fun, all-round session, you wait for Saturday the 18th. Everything else is decent, groomed, and consistent, but those are the two real highlights.
Rusty.
