The Lowdown
Alright, crew, Rusty here. Let’s cut through the noise. This 16-day run isn't going to light the world on fire. We've got a lot of small, messy swell and a persistent cross-onshore breeze that’s going to chop things up. You're going to need to be picky.
For the first stretch, right up until the 13th, it’s pretty poor. The swell is tiny, around 2 to 3 feet, and the wind is just ruining any chance of a clean wave. The energy readings are moderate, in the 400s to 600s, but it’s pointless with that onshore flow. There will be days where it's just not worth paddling out. This is the kind of stretch that tests your dedication.
Water temp at Palm Beach (Todos Santos) is a balmy 85°, which is a touch warmer than usual. Feels like a warm bath.
The first real sign of life shows up on Friday afternoon, August 14th. The swell pushes up to 5ft from the SW with a solid 17-second period. That’s proper groundswell energy, and the numbers agree, jumping to a strong 1238. The wind is still light cross-on, so it won't be perfect, but it's a massive step up from what we've seen. This is the clear pick for the first week, though still not a classic.
Saturday the 15th keeps some size around 4ft, but the period backs off a touch. The afternoon could offer some cleaner lines if the light wind plays nice with the long period.
Then we drift back into mediocrity until Tuesday the 18th. That afternoon, the wind forecast is glassy. We still have a 4ft SSW swell. It’s small, but that glass could make Palm Beach (Todos Santos) super fun and clean. That's the other standout moment of the whole window.
After that, it's back to square one. From August 19th onward, the swell fades back under 3 feet and the cross-onshore wind returns. It’s a flat, mushy finish.
So, here’s the plan: don't hold your breath for this week. The best shots are the afternoon of Friday the 14th and that glassy Tuesday the 18th. Friday has the size and power, Tuesday has the clean conditions. If I had to pick one, I'd lean Friday for the bigger, longer-period swell, but keep Tuesday in the back of your mind. It’s not a stellar forecast, but there are a couple of windows to get wet.
Rusty, out.
