Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it. We’ve only got one spot on the radar for this outlook, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag – big, powerful, but often messy.
The overall pattern is dominated by a long, solid run of groundswell from the southwest, but for most of the next two weeks, the wind is just not playing ball. The energy is massive, with combined swell readings often in the thousands (6285 on Monday), but it’s mostly accompanied by strong onshore or cross-shore winds that are going to wreck the surface. The first real chance of something clean doesn’t come until Tuesday the 14th.
North Point (North-Point)
The standout window is without a doubt Tuesday the 14th. We’ve got a solid 10ft swell rolling in from the SW, with a very long 15 to 16 second period – that’s proper groundswell energy. The kicker is the wind: a light offshore from the NE at just 6 mph. That’s going to hold the faces up clean and glassy. These are the best conditions on offer. The combined energy is still huge (3813), so you’re looking at powerful, lined-up waves. This is advanced territory at that size, but for the experienced crew, it’s going to be special. Expect crowds though, as it’s a known spot.
Wednesday the 15th still has manageable 8ft to 8ft swell and clean offshore wind, but the wind is a strong 22 to 25 mph from the north. That’s blowing hard, and while it’s offshore, it’ll be a battle to get out and hold your line. The quality drops with the scores.
From Thursday the 16th through to the 25th, it’s a write-off. We’re looking at strong onshore winds, rain, and lumpy, choppy conditions. The swell stays big, often over 10ft, but it’s onshore slop. There’s a massive spike on Saturday the 18th with 18ft swell and a combined energy of 10855, but with howling onshore winds, that’s a kite-surfing day, not a paddling day.
After that long gap of poor surf, the tail end of the forecast offers a glimmer. Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th look promising. On the 27th, we’ve got a drop in size to a clean 4ft from the WSW, with a very long 14 to 16 second period. The wind is light and offshore from the ESE. That’s small, but glassy and clean. A great option for a longboard or a fun mid-length. The 28th sees a bump up to 6ft with similar clean conditions, though the wind picks up a little.
So, the call is simple: Tuesday the 14th is the big one for the experts. Get on it. After that, the long wait until Monday the 27th for the cleaner, smaller stuff.
Stay safe, and don’t bother paddling out in that onshore junk.
Rusty.
