Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. Looks like things are gonna take a little while to fire up at North Point. There’s nothing worth paddling out for on Sunday the 5th—messy onshore winds and lumpy junk. We’ve got a bit of a wait, but when it kicks, it kicks.
Monday the 6th morning sees the first real pulse: a solid 12ft WSW groundswell rolling in with a clean 15-second period. The wind’s a cross-off from the SE at 16 mph, so it should be pretty clean. Combined energy is up there at 5163, so there’s plenty of grunt. That’s proper heavy—only for experienced surfers. This is a standout window early in the week.
Tuesday the 7th morning is where it really shines. Same 12ft SW swell, but the period bumps to 16 seconds, and the wind drops to a light 6 mph cross-off from the SE. Combined energy is through the roof at 6016, and it’s glassing up nicely. This is the pick of the first week—clean, powerful, and the direction is right on the optimum from the SW. North Point offers up long, drawn-out lines at this point. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so keep an eye out.
The water temp is sitting at 67° which is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual there.
Wednesday the 8th morning keeps the run going: 12ft WSW at a very long 17-second period, light offshore from the N at 6 mph. Clean again, but the period is so long the waves might wall up a bit—best on a point break like this. Excellent for the crew who know what they’re doing.
We get a bit of a dog-leg Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th—wind swings onshore and the quality drops off. Saturday the 11th is still lumpy cross-shore with big 13ft swell—not pretty, but maybe worth a look if you’re desperate.
Then Sunday the 12th afternoon is another standout: 12ft SW, 17-second groundswell, combined energy of 7101. Light cross-off from the SE. That’s exceptional, clean power. Experts only.
Monday the 13th afternoon is magic: 7ft SW, 18-second period, and glassy—like, totally flat calm. Combined energy at 4030, and it’s a proper glass-off. That’s a quiet, clean session for the experienced crew.
Tuesday the 14th stays solid with 10ft SW, 16 seconds, and light cross-off from the NNE. Still clean, still punchy.
The second week gets a bit more mixed. Wednesday the 15th onward sees wind issues again—Thursday the 16th offers a 10ft SW with cross-off from the SE, but the period drops to 11 seconds. Still rideable, but not as special. Friday the 17th has 12ft SW with a better 16-second period and gentle cross-off, keeping it clean.
Saturday the 18th morning still has 10ft SW, 14 seconds, clean with light cross-off. Good but not the top tier.
Sunday the 19th is a write-off—strong onshore winds and big messy surf.
Monday the 20th has 10ft SW, 15-second period, but only cross-shore wind. You’ll find some, but it’s not the clean stuff.
So the true standouts are Tuesday the 7th morning for that epic combo of size, period, and glassy conditions, and then Monday the 13th afternoon for that rare glass-off with long period swell. If you’re experienced, those are the sessions to circle.
Rusty.
