Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lymans over the next 16 days.
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for Lymans over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a pretty slow start. We've got a real flat spell to kick things off, and it's gonna take a while before anything worthwhile shows up. For the first nine days or so, the surf is just too small and messy to get excited about. You'll see tiny waves, poor conditions, and generally not worth paddling out for. There's a long stretch of weak energy and cross-onshore winds that'll keep things ordinary.
The real glimmer of hope arrives right at the start of September. The morning of the 1st of September sees a bump in swell size to 3 ft from the SSW, but the energy jumps up strong (combined energy of 497). That's a solid groundswell with a 19-second period, meaning long, clean lines. The wind is offshore from the W at 6 mph, which is a major positive for keeping the surface glassy. This is a window where the reef and point setup at Lymans could really shine—longer period swells like this are perfect for a point break, offering better shaped waves and longer gaps between sets. The water temp is sitting at 82°F, which is about a degree and a half warmer than usual for this time of year, so you won't need a thick wetsuit.
The afternoon of the 1st of September also looks promising, with 3 ft from the SSW and a light cross-shore breeze. The energy is still strong (588). Keep an eye on the morning of the 2nd of September too, with another 3 ft SSW swell and offshore winds.
If you're a beginner, these swells are under 5 ft, so it's manageable, but the long period can make the waves a bit more powerful and the sets more spaced out. The crowds at Lymans can be a thing sometimes, so don't expect to have it to yourself.
Toward the end of the run, on the 5th of September, there's a chance of some clean surf with a cross-offshore breeze, but the swell is small at 2 ft. The next day gets hit with a severe gale, so that one's a write-off.
So, to sum it up: the first week is a write-off for pure surfing. The standout is definitely the morning of the 1st of September—that's the best offer on the table. The 2nd of September is also good. After that, it's a bit of a gamble. For now, pencil in those early September sessions and hope the forecasts hold.
Rusty.
