Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lymans over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. Lymans is a reef and point setup that’s pretty exposed to some WNW groundswell, and if the stars align, it can offer up some lovely clean lines.
Right now, the water is sitting at 81°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – nothing extreme, just a bit of extra tropical warmth in the mix. That’s nice.
We’ve got a bit of a slow start, but the first real window to paddle out kicks off on Saturday afternoon (July 11th). It’s looking glassy with 2ft of SSW groundswell rolling in with a very long period of 18 seconds. Combined energy is moderate at 315, wind is light from the west – dead glass. This is proper long-period groundswell, meaning long, clean lines at a reef and point like Lymans, but you’ll have lazy set intervals. Easy paddling.
Sunday morning (July 12th) chucks a bit of a wobbly with cross-onshore wind, so it’ll be messy. But by Sunday afternoon, the wind drops back to glass, calm as, and the swell holds at 2ft, period still a juicy 16 seconds – energy bumps up a notch to 393. That’s worth staying in the water for.
Monday (July 13th) morning offers clean, cross-off conditions with 2ft of SSW groundswell at 15 seconds (301 energy). It’s not huge but the quality is there. The afternoon gets a bit crossed up though.
Tuesday (July 14th) and Wednesday (July 15th) are compromised by onshore and cross-onshore winds, and the swell size climbs toward 3ft with moderate energy levels over 400 to 600. It’s surfable but not clean – look for any shelter from the wind if you can. The bigger swell mid-week is best left for experts with those NW and WNW lines.
Thursday (July 16th) dawns with onshore wind and 3ft swell (438-594 energy) – marginal. Same for Friday morning, but watch Friday afternoon (July 17th): glassy conditions, 2ft groundswell from the SSW, 16 seconds, energy at 491. That’s a sweet window.
Then we hit a flat spell. From Saturday (July 18th) afternoon, you get small 2ft glassy windows but energy dips. By Sunday into Monday (July 19th-20th), the swell drops hard – 2ft, 1ft – and energy falls under 100, weak wave energy. Tuesday (July 21st) is similar, barely a ripple. That run of poor-to-flat conditions stretches from late Saturday right through to Tuesday afternoon.
But hold tight. Wednesday (July 22nd) afternoon sees a new pulse: 2ft SSW groundswell with a very long 23-second period – energy jumps to 600. Thursday (July 23rd) morning brings 3ft SSW groundswell at 20 seconds, strong energy at 898, with offshore WNW wind early. That’s a standout opportunity for experienced surfers at Lymans – the point will handle that long-period swell beautifully. The afternoon freshens up but still clean enough.
Friday (July 24th) and Saturday (July 25th) mornings hover around 3ft to 4ft, period dropping to 16-18 seconds, energy stays solid (551-861) but winds are cross-onshore, so the quality tarnishes a bit. Not a total write-off but not glassy.
The very end of the forecast (July 26th) fades out with tiny 1.0ft windswell and cross-shore chop – a quiet finish.
So overall: the first few days (July 11th-13th) are your best early call for clean, glassy groundswell. Then a flat gap through July 19th-21st, then a bigger, longer-period swell arrives July 22nd-24th that is promising but wind-dependent. Keep an eye on that Thursday morning (July 23rd) – that’s the standout if everything locks in.
Signing off,
Rusty
