Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hiliduha over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s in store.
We’ve got a solid stretch of south-west groundswell sitting on the charts, but the first few days are a bit ragged. Things do clean up nicely if you can wait it out. The water’s sitting at a warm 86°F, which is about 1°F above the usual for this time of year—pretty much average, nothing wild.
Hiliduha is our only break in the mix, and it's an advanced reef setup. It breaks fairly consistently, takes that south-west swell head-on, and that's exactly the direction we're seeing all this energy come from.
Thursday the 9th is not worth paddling for. Cross-onshore wind, a south-south-west swell of 5ft with a short 14-second period, and weak-moderate energy. Friday the 10th has a better 16-second period (very long-period groundswell), but the cross-shore wind makes it messy. Saturday the 11th has a risk of storms and onshore wind. Scrap it.
Sunday morning, July 12th, is the first real highlight. The wind goes glassy. The swell drops to 3ft from the south-south-west, period 13 seconds. The wave energy is weak, but it's clean. That glassy run keeps going into Monday morning, July 13th, with a 4ft south-south-west swell at 12 seconds. Very good surf, still clean. That’s a good small-wave session for the experienced crowd.
After a few days of onshore junk, the outlook fires back up on Wednesday morning, July 15th. This is a big one: excellent surf for the experienced surfer. We’re looking at a 5ft south-south-west swell, riding a 16-second period, with glassy winds. The combined energy is strong (1273). That’s powerful, clean groundswell hitting the reef. The break is sometimes crowded, so there will be a crew out, but the quality will be worth jostling for. Thursday July 16th stays clean with a 5ft south-west swell at 15 seconds (energy 825) and very good conditions.
The weekend of the 18th and 19th is smaller, with 4ft to 4ft south-south-west swell, but the glassy mornings keep it all user-friendly.
Now, the absolute standout: Monday, July 20th. Both morning and afternoon are flagged as excellent for experienced surfers. The morning has a 5ft south-south-west swell with a 16-second period, and the combined wave energy is huge at 1536—that’s strong to very strong. The afternoon pushes the swell to 6ft with similar period and energy (1391), and it’s still glassy. This is a powerful, clean swell direction that matches the optimum exactly. Tuesday July 21st keeps that energy going, with glassy winds and 5ft swell—another incredible day.
The following week holds up well, but the swell gets smaller. From Monday the 20th through Friday the 24th, there are clean windows each day with swell between 3ft and 4ft and long periods. The morning of July 23rd is interesting: a 3ft south-west swell with a super long 18-second period. It’ll be clean and drawn out on the reef, with moderate wave energy (775). The afternoon even has cross-offshore wind, making it clean. By Friday the 24th afternoon, the cross-onshore wind returns, so that's the end of the clean run.
So here's the call: sit out until Sunday morning, July 12th, for the first glassy windows. The real standouts are Monday and Tuesday, July 20th and 21st—powerful, clean, south-west groundswell with excellent conditions for experienced surfers. The break is sometimes crowded, but that’s the price of admission when it's this good.
Rusty.
