Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me level with you about Hamilton Beach State Park. I've looked at the charts for this place, and I gotta be honest with you, it's a tough outlook. We're looking at a solid 16-day window with not a single speck of rideable surf on the cards. Not one. The swell energy is a big fat zero for the entire run, and every single report just says "poor surf conditions." There's no other way to slice it.
Now, this is a reef and point setup that likes swell from the northwest, and it's inconsistent at the best of times. So for this stretch of the coast, a blank run like this? Yeah, it's not unusual. It happens. The water is sitting at 73°F at the start, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about the only thing worth noting.
We've got a few days with offshore or glassy winds, like the afternoon of the 14th of August, and the morning of the 20th of August looking clean with a moderate offshore breeze, but without any swell to work with, it's just a flat, pretty lake. There's nothing to paddle out into. You might get a few glassy moments on the 15th of August afternoon with zero wind, but again, no waves.
So, I'm sorry to say it, but for the next 16 days, Hamilton Beach State Park is a skip. Don't waste the gas. The forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing doing.
Rusty.
