Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what the next couple of weeks are serving up for us.
Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – this is a tough one. We are looking at a long, dry spell with absolutely no surf on the cards. From now, right through the entire 16-day forecast window, there’s not a single wave worth paddling for. That’s a full stretch with no recommendations at all.
Let me walk you through it. Every single day, from the 4th of July right through to the 19th of July, the wave energy is a flat zero (0). Doesn't matter if it's morning or afternoon, the swell is completely absent. The conditions just aren't there for our favourite local spot, El Playon. This is a beach and breakwater setup, and it’s a sheltered location, so when there's no swell coming from that optimum NNE direction, it just sits there like a pond.
We do get some glassy mornings – like the 6th, 7th, and 14th of July – which is a real shame because those would be perfect, but with no swell (0 ft), it's just a flat, glassy lake. Some mornings, especially around the 10th and 14th of July, we see a bit of light offshore or glassy wind that would keep things clean, but again, no height to work with.
For a beginner-friendly setup like El Playon, this kind of blank run is a bit more normal for the area when the swell windows aren't lining up. Don't lose all hope though – forecasts can change, and it doesn't tend to stay this quiet forever. But for right now, leave the board in the car and find something else to do until the ocean wakes up.
This is Rusty, signing off.
