Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on offer for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it's a tough stretch for El Playon. The water's sitting at 82°, which is about average for the time of year, but that's about the only thing that's normal. The whole 16-day window is a blank. There’s zero wave energy (0) coming in, and the swell is just a flat line of dashes. We're looking at a solid two weeks of nothing. For a spot that's usually consistent, this is a real bummer, but it does happen. The good news is that the forecast could change, and it rarely stays this flat for long.
The biggest issue is that the wind is mostly cross-onshore from the ENE, which is chopping up whatever tiny ripple might have been there. There are a few pockets of glassy conditions, like on the morning of the 12th, the 22nd, the 23rd, and the 25th, and even a dead calm on the morning of the 24th, but without any swell to work with, it's just a flat, pretty lake. The wind does go light offshore from the NNE on a few mornings, but with no swell, it's just a pretty, empty lineup.
Honestly, if you're looking to get wet, this setup is more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer on a few of those afternoons when the cross-onshore picks up, but even then, there's nothing to ride.
So, the long and short of it is: no standout days, no surf on offer. Hang tight, keep an eye on the charts, and hopefully the next window brings something better.
Rusty.
