The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – the next 16 days are looking like a flat spell for El Playon. There’s nothing on the horizon to get excited about, no swell, no energy. It’s a bit of a bummer, but it happens.
The water temp is sitting at 82°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so at least a paddle would be comfortable.
From Thursday the 16th of July all the way through to Friday the 31st of July, the story is the same: every single time slot is tagged with "poor surf conditions." The combined energy of all swells hitting this spot is a big fat zero (0) for the entire run. That's as flat as it gets.
There’s a stretch of over two weeks with zero recommendations. The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, sometimes light, sometimes moderate, but it doesn’t matter when there’s no wave to ride. Even on the morning of Wednesday the 22nd of July, when it goes glassy with a little NW breeze, there’s still nothing to surf. It’s a shelter spot, facing NNE for optimum swell, but the ocean just isn’t delivering.
If you’re a beginner, don’t worry – you’re not missing anything. For the rest of us, keep the board in the car and the wax in the bag. Forecasts can change, but right now, this is a solid blank. I’ll be watching the charts for you.
Rusty.
