Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the outlook for El Playon is a tough one to write. We're looking at the next 16 days, starting from the 12th of August, and honestly, there's not a single surfable wave on the cards. The combined swell energy is sitting at a flat zero (0) for the entire period. That's a solid blank run.
Right now, on Wednesday morning, the 12th, it's flat calm with a light NE breeze, but there's nothing to ride. We'll see a few glassy moments, like Thursday morning the 13th with a NNE wind going glass, and even a dead calm on Tuesday the 18th, but it's all for nothing without a lick of swell. The water is a warm 82.6°, which is about normal for this time of year, but you'll just be floating in it.
This pattern of "poor surf conditions" sticks around all the way through to the 27th of August. We get a few days where the wind goes offshore or glassy, like the 19th and 26th, but the ocean is a total mirror. The dominant winds are from the ENE, which is cross-onshore here, and it'll be choppy, but there's no swell to mess up anyway.
For a beginner-friendly spot like El Playon, this is a real bummer. It's a consistent break normally, so this flat spell is unusual.
