The Lowdown
Listen up, crew. Rusty here with a straight-up report – the next 16 days are a total washout. We've got a long, flat stretch ahead of us.
Over at El Playon, a beginner-friendly beach and breakwater, the water's sitting at a warm 83°, which is normal for the season. But that's the only highlight. From right now until the end of the forecast, things are looking bleak.
The combined energy of all swells directed here is zero (0) for the vast majority of the days. We might see a tiny whisper of a 0.3ft north swell on the 19th and again at the very end of the month, but the energy is so low – in the single digits (2 to 4) – it's basically a lake. Even with a 10 to 13-second period on that tiny bump, there's nothing to ride.
There's a massive dry spell. From today all the way through the end of August, there's just no surf. The best we get is a glassy morning on Wednesday the 19th, but there's no wave to go with it. Most afternoons bring a risk of thunderstorms and a choppy cross-onshore breeze. There's another glassy morning on the 31st of August, but the swell story is the same: nothing.
This is one of those stretches where the area just turns off. Forecasts can flip, but for now, leave the board in the car. On the 31st of August, a tiny 0.3ft north pulse with a 13-second period creeps in, but the energy is still a measly 4. It's a flat spell, plain and simple.
Rusty.
