Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. I’ve looked over the charts for the next couple of weeks, and I’ve got to tell you, it’s a tough one for our local spot. We’re looking at El Playon, a beach and breakwater setup that’s normally a decent beginner-friendly wave. But for this entire 16-day window, starting from July 24th right through to August 8th, there is absolutely no surf on offer. The combined swell energy is sitting at zero (0) the whole time. That’s a flat spell, plain and simple.
We’ve got a solid 16-day gap here with no recommendations at all. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so at least a dip in the ocean will feel normal, but you won’t be paddling into anything. The wind is often light and variable, even glassy on a couple of mornings like July 30th and August 6th, but without any swell to push through, it’s just a lake out there. The sheltered nature of El Playon means it needs a decent push from the north-northeast to get going, and it just isn’t coming. For a break that’s usually consistent, this is a real bummer, but don’t lose hope – forecasts can change, and it tends not to stay this poor for long.
