El Playon Surf Forecast and Surf Report

G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s get straight into it.

Well, I’ve gotta be honest with you – the next 16 days are a tough watch for anyone wanting to paddle out at El Playon. This spot is a sheltered beach and breakwater setup, best for beginners when it’s clean, but there’s just no surf on the table for most of this run.

The first big chunk – from Sunday 26 July right through to Monday morning 3 August – is a total blank. Zero swell, zero wave energy. You’ll be staring at a lake. The winds are mostly light cross-onshore, but there’s nothing to ride anyway. A few afternoons get a bit of a chop-up, but it’s all just wind ripples. Not a single wave to paddle for.

Then, on Monday afternoon 3 August, we finally see a tiny hiccup of life. A north swell sneaks in at 0.3 ft, period 11 seconds – that’s a long-period groundswell but it’s so tiny it’s barely a bump. The combined energy is only 2 (weak). Winds are moderate cross-onshore from the east at 12 mph, so it’s choppy and messy. Not worth getting wet for.

Tuesday 4 August keeps that same 0.3 ft north swell, period dropping to 9 seconds, energy still just 2. Morning has light cross-onshore, afternoon gets a bit more chop. Again, it’s basically flat.

From Wednesday 5 August onward, it’s back to zero swell – nothing. Every morning is clear with light onshore or cross-onshore winds, afternoons bring risk of thunderstorms and stronger cross-onshore breezes. No wave energy at all. This dry spell runs all the way through to Monday 10 August afternoon.

So what’s the bottom line? There’s no standout session here. Not one day offers decent surf. The only tiny blip of swell is on 3 and 4 August, but at 0.3 ft and with onshore winds, it’s not for surfing – maybe a bodyboard or a float. For a spot that’s consistent, this is a rare flat run, but it happens. Keep an eye on it – forecasts can change, and it won’t stay lifeless forever.
