    The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here again. Let's talk about what we've got cookin' at El Playon. I'll be straight with you – this stretch is lookin' like a flat spell, no two ways about it. For a spot that's a consistent little wave machine, it’s a real bummer to see the ocean just go to sleep, but it happens. Don't lose hope, though; the odds are good that it won't stay this lifeless forever.

The water temp is sitting around 84°, which is bang on average for this time of year – feels like a warm bath, you won't need a steamer.

Right from the start, Wednesday the 2nd, we've got nothing. Thursday, Friday… same story. This dry patch just keeps rollin'. We're looking at a blank run from the 2nd right through until the morning of the 11th of September. That's a tough ten-day stretch with absolutely zero rideable surf anywhere. Just a lot of choppy, cross-onshore junk and the odd glassy morning with nothing to surf.

Friday the 11th of September is the first sign of life, but it’s barely a whisper. We're talking about a 0.3ft ripple from the north with a 10-second period. The combined energy is a measly (2) – that's not even enough to call a wave. The wind might go glassy in the morning, but with nothing to push around, it's still just a flat, glassy lake. No dice.

After that, we slide back into the nada zone for another few days. Saturday the 12th through to the morning of the 17th – all zeros.

Thursday the 17th of September, the charts show another micro-blip. A 0.3ft, 11-second north swell with a combined energy of just (2). The wind's onshore at 12 mph in the afternoon, so even that tiny bump is gonna get chopped up. It's all "poor surf conditions" across the board.

So, to put it plainly, there are no standout sessions in this 16-day window, not even one that's barely worth paddling out for. If you absolutely gotta get wet, wait for a glassy morning and bring a longboard or a foil, because the waves just aren't here.

Come back and check in with me next week. Forecasts can change, and this flat spell can’t last forever.

    Rusty.
