Alright, Rusty here. Let's get straight into it.
Well, I'm looking at the charts for El Playon, and honestly, it's a tough stretch. This is a beginner-friendly beach and breakwater setup, sheltered from most swell, and for the next 16 days there's just nothing happening. The combined swell energy is a flat zero throughout the entire forecast window. We're looking at a big, blank run here from July 5th all the way through to July 20th. No swell, no waves, no surf. It’s as quiet as it gets.
The water is sitting at a warm 82°F, which is about average for this time of year, so a dip would feel nice, but there's nothing to dip into. The wind is mostly light and variable, occasionally coming onshore, but that won't matter with no surf. When the swell is this non-existent, it’s just a lake out there. For paddle surfing, it’s a total write-off. If you’re really keen to get on the water, a kite might be the only thing with any chance, but there’s no wave energy for that either.
Over the whole 16 days, there isn't a single standout or even a mediocre window. The best advice I can give is to keep an eye on the forecast, but right now, this is a normal dry spell for a sheltered spot. It usually doesn't stay this poor forever, so check back another day.
Rusty.
