The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with ya – it's lookin' bleak out there for a paddle. The whole 16-day window is basically a flat spell. We've got a solid run of nothing happening from now all the way through to the 4th of September. That's a long, quiet stretch. The water temperature is sitting at a warm 83°, which is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
A tiny blip shows up on the 4th of September in the afternoon, with a whisper of a swell from the north at 0.3 ft and a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy is just a measly 2 (weak). That’s not enough to even stand up on. The wind is a cross-onshore breeze at 9 mph which will just mess up what little ripple there is. It's a no-go.
The rest of the forecast is more of the same. There are a couple of moments on the 31st of August morning and again on the 6th of September morning where it goes glassy, but there's no swell to ride. It's just a flat, pretty ocean.
Honestly, the only break we've got to talk about is El Playon, a sheltered beach and breakwater setup that's best for beginners. It's consistent when there's swell, but the issue is there's no swell. With the wind being stubbornly cross-onshore almost the entire time, it's not even worth a look for the kites.
So, the call is simple: leave the boards at home. This is a blank run for the area, and it's looking like we're in for a spell of flatness. Forecasts can change, but right now, there's nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
