The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s talk in feet and Fahrenheit now.
We’ve got a real quiet spell for El Playon. Nothing in the water for the first week and a half. The combined swell energy is sitting dead at 0 day after day, so we’re looking at flat, poor surf conditions from Thursday August 27th all the way through the start of September. That’s a long gap with no waves.
There’s a tiny pulse way later. Saturday September 6th starts glassy but it’s flat – no height, no energy. Just still water.
Finally, around Thursday September 10th, we see a little something. The morning goes glassy with a tiny NNE swell at 0.6 ft, period of 12 seconds. The combined energy is weak, just 14. So we’re talking small, weak waves. Clean from the glass, but barely worth waxing up. Water temp is about 83°F, right where it should be for this time of year.
Friday September 11th morning is similar – 0.6 ft from the NNE, 12-second period, weak energy of 13. Wind is light cross-onshore, so it’ll be a little bumpy. Still, with such small, weak swell, this is only for beginners or folks who just want to get wet. El Playon is a sheltered beach and breakwater, so it needs a real swell to work, and we just don’t have it.
This is a grim outlook. No standouts, no real waves. Might be time to tune the board or just enjoy the beach. The surf ain’t here.
Rusty.
