The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, and this one’s a tough pill to swallow. We’re looking at a dead stretch at El Playon. Water temp is about 83°F, nothing unusual for the season.
For the next 16 days, there’s barely a pulse. A tiny north swell at 0.3ft shows up on Saturday the 15th and again on Wednesday the 19th, but the energy is so weak (3 and then 2) it’s nothing you can ride. From Sunday the 16th all the way through to Sunday the 30th, it’s flat – zero swell height, zero period, zero energy.
There are absolutely no good surf options in this forecast. The wind lays down glassy on the morning of the 16th and again on the 30th, but without any waves, it’s just a pretty lake. For a spot that is usually consistent for beginners, this dry spell is a real bummer, but it’s not unheard of around here. Forecasts can change, but for now, don’t waste the gas.
Rusty.
