El Playon surf forecast from 12 Jul 2026:
Best Forecast Surf Conditions for El Playon this week:
The largest open ocean swell (not directed at the beach) is 1.6m 7s period and expected on Wednesday (Jul 15) at 8PM.
Right then. Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for El Playon.
Honestly, mate, it’s a bit of a flat spell across the whole 16-day window. From Sunday, July 12th, right through to Monday, July 27th, there is just no surf on offer whatsoever. The combined energy of all swells directed here sits at 0 the entire time, with no swell height, direction, or period recorded. It’s a total blank – nothing to get excited about.
Water temp is sitting at 82°, which is about average for this time of year, so the only thing you’d be doing is floating around in warm bath water with a flat ocean.
There are a few moments where the wind goes glassy – like Tuesday morning the 14th, Tuesday morning the 21st, Wednesday morning the 22nd, and a few other early slots – but with no swell to push anything through, it’s just a pretty, flat sea. Some mornings you’ll see light offshore, like a few NNE and NE breezes, but again, no wave to groom.
El Playon is a sheltered, beginner-friendly beach and breakwater setup, and it’s consistent when there is swell, but with no swell in the entire forecast, there’s nowhere to go, no standouts, nothing to recommend.
I can’t dress it up. There’s nothing doing. If you’ve got a kite, you might find a puff of wind on some afternoons with that cross-onshore ENE breeze at 9 to 12 mph, but for a surfboard? Not a chance.
Rusty.
