The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for El Playon.
Honestly, I’ve gotta be straight with you – this is one of those outlooks where the ocean just doesn’t want to play ball. Right through the whole 16-day window, from Thursday the 23rd of July all the way to Friday the 7th of August, there’s no surf on offer. Not a single wave with any energy. The combined energy of all swells directed here is sitting at 0 (zero) for the entire period, and that’s a flat, quiet spell.
We’ve got a mix of some clouds, clear skies, and a fair few afternoons with a risk of thunderstorms. Winds are mostly a light to moderate breeze, coming from the north, north-northwest, east-northeast, and east, so it’s cross-on or cross-off. There are a couple of mornings where it goes glassy or offshore, like on Sunday the 2nd of August with NNW glassy conditions, and Monday the 3rd of August with calm, glassy conditions, but without any swell to push through, it’s just a flat, pretty lake.
El Playon is a sheltered beach and breakwater setup, and it’s consistent for beginners when there is swell, but right now there’s nothing. It’s a blank run for the area. Don’t lose hope though – forecasts can change, and it tends not to stay this poor for long.
Stay tuned, and keep an eye on the horizon.
Rusty.
