Well, I gotta be straight with you – this is one of those forecasts where you might want to hang the board up and take up golf for a while. The entire outlook, from now through to the 22nd of July, is a total blank. There’s zero swell on the charts for El Playon. It’s a solid 16-day stretch with no rideable surf in sight.
The water’s sitting at a warm 81.5°F, which is about average for this time of year, so if you fancy a swim, it’s lovely. But for waves? Nada. The occasional easterly breeze kicks up a bit of chop, but with no swell energy (0) to work with, it’s just messy water.
El Playon is a sheltered spot, best with a NNE swell, but there just isn’t any coming. This is a classic flat spell for the area. It won’t stay this way forever, forecasts can turn around, but for now, save your wax.
