The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.

Right off the bat, I’m looking at the whole 16-day window and honestly, it’s flat. There’s nothing to get excited about. The first surf recommendation doesn’t even show up until the morning of Friday the 4th of September, and even then, it’s barely a blip. We’re looking at a long stretch of flatness before that, and then a few tiny pulses that don’t amount to much.

The only spot we’ve got on the radar is El Playon. It’s a beach and breakwater setup, sheltered from the swell, and it’s a beginner-friendly wave. The water temp is sitting at 83°F, which is about 0.5°F warmer than normal for this time of year, so nothing unusual there.

The first hint of anything comes on the afternoon of Friday the 4th. We get a tiny 0.3ft swell from the north, with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy is a measly 2 (weak). It’s a cross-onshore wind, so it’s going to be messy. That’s about as poor as it gets.

We get another little tease on the 11th of September – a Friday morning. Same story: 0.3ft from the north, 9-second period, combined energy of 2 (weak). The wind is onshore, so it’s not going to be clean. For a beginner spot, this is just not worth paddling out for.

After that, the forecast goes dead again. The morning of the 14th looks glassy with a light west wind, but there’s zero swell. It’s a cruel tease.

So, the bottom line: there’s no standout. There’s nothing worth calling a session. The entire 16 days is a write-off for surf. If you’re desperate for a float on a board, you might get a knee-high ripple on the 4th or 11th, but it’ll be choppy and weak. Don’t hold your breath.

Rusty out.
