Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dumps (Brandon Bay) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for Brandon Bay.
Well, I’ll be honest with you, this outlook is a bit of a struggle. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak surf that just doesn’t want to get its act together. For the next week and a half, the waves are tiny and the energy is just not there. From Sunday the 12th right through to about Wednesday the 22nd, we’re looking at a real flat spell. There are a few moments where the conditions are clean, but with swell heights barely cracking 2ft and combined energy readings sitting mostly below 100 (55, 30, 24, 35, 77, 66, 35, 23, 21, 20, 15, 11, 17, 22, 79, 89, 91, 93, 68, 83), it’s basically a lake out there. The wind is often offshore or light, which is a tease, but it’s just not enough to make anything worthwhile.
The first real glimmer of hope pops up on Wednesday morning, the 22nd of July. Dumps (Brandon Bay) will see a tiny bump to 2ft from the W, with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy finally cracks triple digits at 111, and with glassy conditions from a light ESE breeze, it’s the best-looking session in a long time. It’s not a classic, but it’s surfable, and after all that flatness, it’ll feel like a win.
Then, the real standout arrives on Friday morning, the 24th of July. The swell picks up to 3ft from the WNW, with a 10-second period. The combined energy jumps to 214 (moderate wave energy), and the wind is glassy from the WSW. This is your best bet of the entire 16-day window. It’s clean, it’s got a bit of push, and it’s the one time you’ll actually want to paddle out. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no need to worry about a wetsuit change.
Sadly, that’s the peak. The weekend after that gets messy again with cross-onshore winds and a drop in quality, so make the most of that Friday morning window.
Rusty.
