Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dumps (Brandon Bay) over the next 16 days.
Right then, let's have a look at what's on the cards for the Dunes (Brandon Bay). I gotta be straight with you: the start of this 16-day run is not exactly firing. We've got a bit of a slow burn, with the first few days looking pretty ordinary. The water's sitting at 62°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that's a small win if you're paddling out.
The first sniff of anything worth getting wet for doesn't show up until Friday the 10th. Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th are just messy, with light cross-onshore breezes and marginal waves. You'll be battling small, wind-affected lumps. Thursday the 9th is more of the same. Then, Friday morning, the 10th of July, things clean up a bit. We get a nice little window with a North-Northeasterly cross-offshore breeze that'll make the surface look pretty tidy. Swell is from the West-Northwest at 3ft, with an 11-second period. It's not big, but it's clean. The combined swell energy is still only moderate at 300.
That Friday morning looks like the best of a pretty average bunch. Saturday the 11th is smaller again, and the winds pick up, chopping things out. From there, it's a downhill slide into the second week. A few days around the 13th and 14th offer some clean, offshore winds but the swell drops right away to barely a foot and a half. You might get a little something on the 14th with a 2ft West swell and a clean offshore breeze, but it's very ordinary.
Honestly, the standout window is that Friday morning, July 10th. It's the only time the forecast lines up for a decent, clean wave, even if it's on the smaller side. Don't expect a crowd for that one, as it's not a classic swell event. The rest of the run is a real struggle, with days of tiny, weak surf or strong cross-onshore winds that will leave you frustrated. It's one of those periods where the ocean is just not cooperating.
Rusty.
