Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—Dumps (Brandon Bay) is lookin’ like a real flat spell for the next 16 days. The water is sittin’ at 62°F, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only highlight. The whole forecast from July 5 through July 20 is plagued by poor surf conditions. The swell is mostly small and weak, and when it does show a pulse, the wind is almost always cross‑onshore or cross, chopping it up. There’s not a single session I’d call decent.
The only moments that might get you out of the water are a few glassy windows. Wednesday morning July 8—glassy, 4ft of WNW swell at 9 seconds, combined energy 212 (moderate). That wave comment says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions,” and I’d agree—it’s tiny and weak. Then Tuesday morning July 14, glassy again with 3ft of W swell at 10 seconds, energy only 138 (weak). Barely worth paddling for. And Monday morning July 13 has a clean cross‑off with 3ft of W swell at 12 seconds, energy 207, but still ordinary.
Beyond that, the bigger pulses are all blown out. Friday July 17 morning brings 7ft of WNW swell at 11 seconds, energy 1104 (strong), but it’s cross‑onshore and choppy—too messy for a good surf. Sunday July 19 afternoon sees the biggest swell of the window: 10ft from W at 10 seconds, energy 1955 (very strong), but with a fresh cross‑onshore and lumpy conditions. That kind of setup is more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing at a beach break like Dumps.
Normally Dumps is fairly consistent and can handle a NW swell, but this forecast is a total dud. The gap of good surf? There isn’t any. It’s a blank run from start to finish. Forecasts can change, but right now I’d leave the board at home.
