Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dumps (Brandon Bay) over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down.
First up, most of the next week and a half at Dumps (Brandon Bay) is really flat. There’s a few clean moments but barely any power. You have a small pulse early Friday morning the 10th: a 1.3m groundswell from the WNW, 11-second period, and a north-northeast cross-off breeze making things clean. Combined energy is moderate at 400, which is the highest for a while, but after that it’s downhill fast. Water temp is about 16° which is pretty average for the season. Crowds are possible here, so you might bump into a few others.
From that afternoon through Saturday, Sunday, and into the following week, the swell vanishes. We’re looking at tiny 0.5m to 0.3m surf, short periods, and combined energy readings between 19 and 60. You’ll get the odd glassy morning, but you’d be chasing shadows. Expect this flat spell to last from late Friday the 10th through to the 20th of July.
Now, the far end of the window is interesting. On Monday morning the 21st of July, there’s a slight push to 1.4m with WSW windswell, but it's short period, glassy conditions, and energy at 174. Not terrible but nothing special. The real standout lands on Wednesday morning the 22nd of July: the swell jumps to 2.2m out of the WNW with a 9-second period. Combined energy hits 796—strong numbers. Winds are east-southeast and light, cross-off, so it’s clean and lined up. This is the one to pencil in. After midday the breeze picks up but the morning will be worth getting wet for. At over 2m this is more for experienced surfers.
The 23rd still has some solid 1.6m NW swell but the wind turns south and onshore over the days after, so quality drops. Bottom line: Wednesday the 22nd of July is the clear standout. Get it while it’s clean.
