Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dumps (Brandon Bay) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's happening at Dumps over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, it's a slow start. We get a little pulse of swell this Friday the 10th, but it's a tease. Friday morning is your best early window, with a clean 4ft swell from the WNW, an 11-second period, and a light offshore breeze from the north. The water temp is about 61°, which is average for the season. The wave energy is moderate at (400). That's the one bright spot in the first few days.
Friday afternoon gets messy with a moderate cross-shore wind, and then we hit a long, flat stretch. From Saturday the 11th through the middle of the following week, the swell drops to nothing. We're looking at tiny waves, mostly under 2ft, and while the wind is sometimes offshore or glassy, there’s just not enough power. The energy readings fall to weak two-digit numbers, as low as (21). It's a real drought.
We don't see a proper return of swell until around Saturday the 18th, but that comes with a strong, lumpy cross-shore wind from the north at 18 mph, making the 3-4ft swell a choppy mess. Not the day for it.
The real standout in this 16-day outlook is Wednesday the 22nd of July. After all that waiting, the morning goes glassy – zero wind – with a clean 5ft swell from the WNW and a 9-second period. That's a solid, clean wave for the intermediate crowd, with strong energy at (336). That is your day to score.
After that, the wind turns onshore for the rest of the week, so that Wednesday morning is the only real gem.
A lot of flat water to sit through for one good session. But in these parts, it doesn't stay bad forever.
Rusty.
