Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for Brandon Bay, specifically out at Dumps.
The next couple of weeks are gonna be a real mixed bag, and honestly, we’ve got a slow start ahead of us. The first real chance to get wet isn’t until Wednesday morning, July 8th. Before that, Tuesday’s looking pretty average with that 4ft swell getting chopped up by cross-onshore and onshore breezes. Not worth rushing for.
Wednesday morning, July 8th though, that’s our little standout window. We’ve got a clean 4ft swell from the WNW, and the wind is dead glassy. That’s a beautiful thing – clean, smooth surf with a combined energy reading of 303 (moderate). Nice long 9-second period, so it’ll have a decent shape. It’s not huge, but for an intermediate wave, it’ll be fun. Just keep an eye on the tide.
After that, things drop off. Thursday and Friday get messy with cross-onshore winds and poor conditions. By the weekend, the swell just fades away into knee-high slop. We’re looking at a long run of poor surf from Friday afternoon right through the end of the forecast window.
There are a couple of faint flutters – like the morning of Tuesday, July 14th, with a 2ft W swell and offshore wind – but it’s only a 1/10, so it’s really just a soft, weak wave for the most patient soul. Nothing to get excited about. The 22nd of July shows a little blip of 2ft WNW swell and a cleaner wind, but it’s still a ways off and not strong.
Crowds at Dumps can pop up sometimes, so if you do get out on that Wednesday, you might see a few others who’ve been waiting for a clean one.
So, the winner by a long shot is Wednesday morning, July 8th at Dumps. Get on it, because after that, we’re looking at a whole lot of flatness.
Rusty.
