The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Anglet - Les Dunes.
Honestly, the next week and a half is a bit of a write-off. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing special, with the first real glimmer of hope not showing up until the very end of the month. The swell is tiny, the wind is mostly messy, and you’d be fighting for scraps. The combined energy of all swells directed here is weak, rarely getting above 30 (19), and the water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The only time this spot gets a little interesting is from Monday, July 28th onwards. We see a modest bump in swell, but it’s still nothing to write home about. The standout moment is Tuesday morning, July 28th. We’ve got a tiny 1.0ft northwest swell, but the wind goes completely glassy with a calm, zero wind state. That’s a major positive for clean conditions if you just want to get wet and catch a few soft ones. The combined energy is still weak (98), but for a beginner-friendly break like this, glassy conditions make it the best on offer. Don’t expect power; the period is a short 8 seconds, so it’s a bit of a close-out, but it’ll be fun.
If you’re desperate, the morning of Sunday, July 26th, also has some glassy conditions with a similar 1.0ft swell, but it’s a similar story. From Monday, July 28th to Wednesday, July 29th, you’ll see some clean conditions with cross-offshore breezes in the mornings, but the swell is tiny and weak. For a beginner spot, this is your window. Any other time, the wind is onshore, cross-onshore, or just creating chop, making it a total no-go.
So, there’s a big gap of no real recommendations until the tail end of the month. Hang tight, the forecasts can change. For now, the best you’ll get is a glassy, weak, knee-high wave on the 28th.
Rusty.
