Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anglet - Les Dunes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what we've got cooking for this stretch. First thing you need to know: the water is sitting at a toasty 74°, which is a full 6° warmer than average for this time of year. That's very unusual, so don't expect to need a thick wetsuit.
Right now, we're looking at a pretty quiet picture overall. The first bit of surf that's even worth a mention shows up Saturday morning, July 11, at Anglet - Les Dunes. It's only 2ft from the NW with a period of 9 seconds, giving us a combined swell energy of 112 (moderate). The wind is a light offshore from the NNE, which will keep things clean. It's surfable, but honestly, it's pretty ordinary. Nothing to set the world on fire.
Then Sunday morning, July 12, sees the same tiny 2ft from the NW with a period of 10 seconds and energy of 101 (moderate). The wind drops to glassy, which is a major positive. It’ll be super clean, but again, the size is tiny. For a beginner, this might be okay, but for anyone looking for a real wave, it’s a tough sell.
After that, we hit a long, dry spell. From Monday, July 13, all the way through to Tuesday, July 22, it's pretty much all "poor surf conditions" day after day. Swells are tiny, often under 2ft, with short periods and cross-onshore winds. There's a brief glimmer Monday morning, July 20, with a 1.0ft from the WNW and a clean offshore from the ENE, but it’s so small it’s barely a ripple. The combined energy on that one is only 25 (weak). Not worth paddling out for.
So what's the standout? Honestly, there's no true standout. The best on offer is the glassy Sunday morning, July 12. It will be clean as a whistle, but you're dealing with knee-high slop. For a couple of those mornings, if you're desperate for a longboard glide, you might get a few, but don't expect any power or push. The long gap of no recommendations from the 13th through the 22nd tells you everything you need to know.
Rusty.
