The Lowdown
Alright, crew, Rusty here. We’ve got a couple of weeks of surf ahead, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Let’s get into the details.
The early action is pretty slow. Friday is looking marginal with a small, weak NW swell and some onshore breezes. Not worth the effort. Then Saturday morning cleans right up with a light offshore wind and 4ft of NW swell. That’s your first good window – clean and fun. Sunday drops off to tiny, weak surf, so don’t hold your breath.
The middle of the week is flat and poor. Monday through Wednesday are a write-off with almost no swell and bad winds. There’s a little ripple on Wednesday morning with glassy conditions, but it's tiny.
The surf builds again towards the end of the week. Thursday sees a stormy pulse with onshore winds, and by the afternoon it’s cranking to a solid 10ft. That’s way too big for this spot – it’s gonna be a full-on washing machine with heaps of energy in the water. That’s for experts only, and even then, it’s risky.
The next week brings cleaner conditions. The morning of Sunday the 30th is your standout, with a clean 5ft NW swell and light offshore winds. That’s the one to circle on the calendar. The water is running much warmer than normal, about 6°F above average, which is a bonus.
We’ve got another good window on the morning of Monday the 31st, with a glassy 4ft-plus WNW swell. Again, clean and user-friendly. Then we drop off into the first days of September with more onshore junk.
Looking deeper into the second week, there’s another pulse around Thursday the 3rd, but winds are questionable. The real long-range gem is the morning of Friday the 4th – winds go dead calm, glassy, and we’ve got a clean 5ft-plus NW swell. That’s a promising one, but it's over a week out, so keep your expectations in check.
So, the highlights are Saturday morning and Sunday the 30th, with Friday the 4th as the long-range one to watch. It's not going to be a classic, but there are definitely some fun windows if you're on it.
Rusty out.
