Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anglet - La Piscine over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let's talk about Anglet - La Piscine in feet and knots.
It's a rough stretch ahead, plain and simple. We're looking at a lot of small, weak, and messy surf for the next week and a half.
The water temp is a crazy 76°, which is about 7° warmer than it should be for this time of year. That's really unusual.
From now through to about the 23rd of July, it's mostly flat or junky. There's a brief moment on the morning of Monday the 13th where the wind goes glassy and the swell bumps up to about knee-high 4ft from the NW, but the period is a short 6 seconds, so it'll be weak and crumbly. The combined swell energy is a weak 111. It's surfable, but barely.
The pattern is just poor surf conditions all the way through. The wind is rarely cooperating, mostly side-onshore or directly onshore, and the swell is tiny.
Now, the one to circle is Thursday the 23rd of July. That's the real deal. We finally see some proper sized, longer-period groundswell. The morning brings 5ft from the NW at 9 seconds, with the combined swell energy hitting a moderate 430. The afternoon pumps up to 7ft from the NW with a period of 10 seconds, and the energy climbs to a strong 745. The wind is onshore from the West at 12 knots, which isn't perfect, but the size will be there. This is powerful surf. For experienced surfers, the afternoon of the 23rd is the best bet of the whole forecast. Still a week and a half out, so don't book the trip yet, but that's the window.
By Friday the 24th, the swell is still solid at 6ft in the morning and 6ft in the afternoon from the NW, with energy readings of 730 and 535, but the wind turns more side-onshore and the call is "marginal." After that, it fades right back down.
So, the honest truth? There's nothing good on the horizon until the 23rd. For clean, fun waves, you're waiting. The size shows up that Thursday, but the wind makes it a battle. For most of us, it's a long wait.
