Anglet - La Piscine Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, let’s break it down.

Right now, the surf is flat, but there’s some juice coming. The first real highlight is Sunday morning, 30th August at Anglet - La Piscine. We’ve got a clean 5-foot swell from the WNW, with a 10-second period – not the longest but it’ll have some shape. The wind is glassy out of the NE at 3 mph, so it’ll be smooth as butter. Water temp is 75°, which is about 5° warmer than average for this time of year – that’s noticeably warm, so you’ll be comfortable. The combined energy is 412, so there’s some push. It’s a bit inconsistent but there are fun waves to be had.

That Sunday afternoon the wind swings NW and picks up, chopping it up, so get out early.

Monday has a bit more size – 6 feet in the morning – but the wind is cross-onshore from the WNW, making it bumpy.

The next real standout is Tuesday morning, 1st September. The swell drops to 5 feet from the NW, period still 10 seconds, but the wind flips offshore from the east at 6 mph. That’s clean, lined-up surf. Energy is moderate at 392, but the clean face makes it worthwhile.

Wednesday and Thursday are small and weak – dropping to 3 feet and then a couple of feet. Energy tanks down to 32 on Thursday morning. Gotta be patient.

Then comes the big one. Saturday morning, 5th September – this is the standout of the whole run. A solid 7-foot NW swell, with a 13-second period – that’s a proper long-period groundswell, so expect powerful, well-shaped waves. The combined energy is sky-high at 1339 (strong). The wind is cross-offshore from the ENE at 9 mph, keeping things clean. But listen – 7 feet with that period is going to have some punch. This is for experienced surfers only. The break likes a W swell and we’re getting WNW-NW, so it’s not absolutely perfect, but the quality of the swell and clean conditions make this the session to aim for. The afternoon gets cross-onshore, so get in early.

After that, Sunday the 6th is smaller but clean again with offshore E wind at 4 feet, a nice recovery day.

The week after gets messy, with a couple of bigger pulses. On Wednesday morning, 9th September, there’s a massive 10-foot NW swell with a 12-second period and energy over 2000 – that is way too big for La Piscine. That’s a miss, or maybe for tow-in types.

But don’t sleep on Saturday morning, 12th September. We get a return to 5 feet from the NW, period 11 seconds, and glassy wind from the NE at 3 mph. Combined energy is 651 – solid moderate. The conditions look really good, clean surface. It’s a second-week call so keep an eye on it, but the pattern looks promising.

Finally, Monday morning, 14th September brings another one for the strong swimmers. 8 feet from the NW, 11-second period, with an offshore E breeze at 3 mph. That’s big, powerful, clean, and definitely for experts only. Energy is up at 1171. If you’re comfortable in that size, this is a banger.

Overall: the next few days are building. The absolute pick is Saturday morning, 5th September – big, clean, powerful swell for the experienced crew. The second standout is Tuesday morning, 1st September for a cleaner, smaller session. And keep the weekend of the 12th-14th on your radar.
