Table - best surf conditions forecast for Almagreira over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Look, I gotta be straight with you – we’re in for a proper flat spell at Almagreira. The whole 16-day window from July 7 through July 22 is showing nothing worth paddling out for. Every single session is marked as poor surf conditions, and the combined wave energy barely flickers – most days it’s below 50, often zero. For a break that’s usually fairly consistent, that’s a real bummer.
Water temp is sitting at 65°F (about average for this time of year), but you won’t need a wetsuit for the sitting-around you’ll be doing.
Let’s run through it. Tuesday morning July 7: a tiny 2ft swell from the NNW with a short 4-second period, onshore northerly wind at 12 mph – messy. That same tiny, weak pattern sticks around Wednesday and Thursday. Friday July 10 offers a brief 2ft pulse but still cross-onshore and choppy. By Saturday July 11, the surf flatlines – zero energy. That dead stretch runs into the next week: barely a ripple until Thursday July 16, when we see a 4ft west swell appear, period only 7 seconds, but it’s accompanied by a brisk 16 mph northerly onshore wind – chopped-up and unrideable. The combined energy for that session hits 134, which is moderate but useless with that wind.
The rest of the second week stays poor: tiny swells, short periods, and onshore or cross-onshore winds. Even the glassy moment on Monday July 13 morning (0.3ft from the SW, 18-second period) is essentially flat. The whole forecast is a write-off. On the bright side, a spot like Almagreira that’s fairly consistent doesn’t often stay this quiet for long – forecasts can turn. But right now, there’s no standout session, no window. Keep an eye on the charts.
