Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks. Honestly, it’s a bit of a flat spell we’re sitting in right now, so don’t get your hopes up for any immediate action. We’ve got a solid stretch of days with barely a ripple worth paddling for, from now all the way through to the end of the first week. The wave energy is sitting on the floor, with values barely creeping over 100 at times, but mostly stuck in the weak zone below that. You’re looking at clean, clear skies but nothing to ride.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t show up until Tuesday the 14th of July at Cantinho. That morning, the forecast is calling for glassy conditions with a light, offshore WSW breeze, and the swell bumps up to a knee-to-waist high `3 ft` from the WNW. The period stretches out to 10 seconds, which gives it a bit of push. The combined energy hits 245 (moderate energy), so there’s enough there to get a few rides. It’s a point break, very consistent, and it handles a NW swell well, which is close enough to that WNW direction to work. The water temp is about average for this time of year. This is the standout window, the best you’re going to get in this outlook, but it’s a one-morning wonder – by the afternoon the wind swings onshore and messes it up.
After that little tease, it’s back to the doldrums. The wave energy drops straight back down into the weak zone (around 86 on Wednesday), and the swell height shrinks to nothing. The rest of the forecast remains poor, with persistent cross-onshore breezes and choppy conditions. There’s nothing else that truly qualifies as a goer for the rest of the 16-day window. For a break that’s usually very consistent, this is a proper dry spell. Keep an eye on the charts, though – it tends not to stay this quiet for long.
