### Imperial
Let's talk about ADs/Doubles in feet and miles per hour, because that’s how we feel it. It's a rough outlook, and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.
We’re starting off with a total flat spell for the next week and a half, seriously. The wind is ripping from the ENE at 22 to 25 mph, cross-shore, tearing up anything that tries to stand up. The water temperature is 80° on average – nothing weird there. Surf size today, the 18th, is 8ft from the same direction as the wind, and that energy reading (644 to 671) is just a sign of a blown-out mess. Saturday afternoon is the same story: 7ft and garbage. Sunday and Monday are no different – we’ve got 5ft of cross-shore chop.
For ten straight days, from July 18th to the 28th, it’s either poor or marginal. A long-period S swell rolls in on Monday the 20th, 3ft at 16 seconds, but the breeze is moderate and cross-shore – so it’s lumpy. There’s no way to get a clean wave.
The only thing that gets the pulse going is that massive pulse at the end of the month. Wednesday, July 29th has an ENE swell that's forecast at 13ft in the morning, jumping to a massive 20ft in the afternoon. The wind swings light cross-off from the NNE at 16 mph, and it’s reported as clean. That energy reading is off the charts – 7407 and 14147. That’s a mountain of water, and the forecast specifically says it’s too big for this break. Only the hardcore, pro-level guys need apply. Period is 14 seconds.
Thursday the 30th of July is the closest thing to a real window we get. You’re looking at an 12ft swell in the morning from the ENE with a light breeze at 6 mph from the NNE, and it’s still clean cross-off. That’s a solid, scary wave for the brave. By the afternoon it drops to 8ft but gets a slight cross-chop from a gentle breeze. Then we’re back into the wind and mess from July 31st through August 2nd with 7ft to 5ft and lumpy cross-shore conditions. The energy drops out completely.
So, here’s the deal: There isn’t a single day in the next two weeks I’d recommend for the average surfer. If you’re an expert, maybe have a crack on the 30th of July, but you better be ready for a heavy session. Otherwise, keep the board in the car and save your energy.
