Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s happening with the surf.
Straight up, I’ve got to be honest with you – this stretch of coastline is looking like a write-off for the entire sixteen-day run. There’s just no good surf on offer. We’re looking at a long, blank run from now through to the 21st of July. It’s one of those periods where you’re better off leaving the board in the shed.
The only spot in the books here is ADs/Doubles, but the conditions are consistently poor. The swell is coming from the ENE pretty much the whole time, with sizes hanging around the 5 ft to 8 ft. The problem is the wind. It’s a relentless cross-shore or cross-onshore breeze, mostly a Fresh breeze (22 mph) or a Strong breeze (25 mph), just keeping the ocean chopped up and messy. The wave energy is moderate to strong (values between 386 and 1030), but none of that matters when every session is “strong cross-shore with messy cross-chop” or “fresh cross-onshore and lumpy.” The swell period is short, around 7 to 8 seconds, so it’s just windswell junk.
Things don’t really change. There’s a brief window around the 15th of July where the swell direction flips to the SSW, with a very long period of 18 seconds and a tiny 2 ft swell, but it’s still cross-onshore and lumpy with that fresh breeze. Not worth paddling out for. From the 16th onward, we’re back to the same ENE windswell pattern with poor quality.
There’s simply no standout day, no clean window. The crowds at ADs/Doubles can be an issue when it’s good, but they won’t be a problem here because nobody in their right mind would be out there. With this setup being a consistent cross-shore mess, honestly, this coast looks more interesting for the kite surfers than anyone with a paddle.
Hang in there, crew. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a hard pass.
Rusty.
