Table - best surf conditions forecast for ADs/Doubles over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, but in feet and miles per hour for you. Let’s break down ADs/Doubles.
For the first week and a bit, it’s rough out there. Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th have solid swell energy (470-736) with waves running 6 to 7 ft from the ENE. Problem is the trade winds are howling out of the ENE at 25 mph, smashing right across the face. It’s lumpy cross-chop and just ugly. Water temp is 79°, which is about normal for the season, but you won’t care when you’re getting blown sideways.
Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th see the swell back off to 4 ft to 5 ft, but the wind stays stubborn from the east to east-northeast – cross to cross-on, still choppy. Not worth the drive.
We get a little long-period groundswell from the SSW (14-17 sec) showing up Wednesday afternoon into Thursday the 16th, but it’s tiny – only 2 ft. The wind stays cross-on, so those long lines get chopped up anyway.
Friday the 17th through to the start of the next week is more of the same: cross-shore winds, lumpy conditions, drop in and out of swell. Honestly, if you’re looking to paddle, this is barren.
Around Wednesday the 22nd, another ENE pulse pushes through at 5 ft to 6 ft, but the trade winds are back at 20-22 mph cross-shore. Choppy, messy, no fun.
Now, the one day that stands out is Monday the 27th. We finally get a break in the wind – light and variable in the morning, turning cross-offshore in the afternoon. Swell is small, about 3 ft, but it’s a long-period SSW groundswell pushing 15-17 seconds with serious energy (907-961). That’s the kind of smooth, clean setup that makes ADs/Doubles work. The morning is borderline, but the afternoon window is looking glassy and clean. That’s your best bet – a true standout after a long dry spell.
Don’t get your hopes up for the first two weeks. The wind messes everything up. But that last Monday, July 27th afternoon? That’s the one to circle.
