Table - best surf conditions forecast for ADs/Doubles over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break down the same stretch for ADs/Doubles, this time in feet and miles.
To be straight with you, the whole 16-day forecast is a bust for decent surf. Water temp is about 79°F, which is normal for the season, but that’s the only thing that’s behaving.
The wind is the killer. It’s blowing from the ENE and NE at 15 to 25 mph, cross-shore or cross-onshore, every single day. That’s trashing any chance of clean waves. The swell is coming from the same direction as the wind – ENE – with a short period of 7 to 8 seconds. That’s pure windswell, and it’s creating nothing but lumpy, messy cross-chop. The wave energy numbers are moderate, hitting around 500 to 900, but it doesn’t mean a thing when the wind is wrecking it. Every session is rated as poor surf conditions.
From Friday 10 July all the way through to Saturday 25 July, there’s not a single standout. Swell heights are running between 4ft and 8ft, which is a decent size, but with that wind and short period, it’s a total mess. A couple of mornings around 22 July and 24 July see a shift to a longer-period SSW swell (13 to 18 seconds), but the swell is tiny – 2ft to 3ft – and the wind is still cross or cross-onshore. Just not enough to get the stoke going.
If you’re a kite surfer, that strong cross-shore wind and the lumpy 5ft to 7ft stuff might be fun, but for a paddle surfer, I’d give it a miss. This is a proper blank run, and the forecast is consistent – consistently poor. We’ll have to wait for a change.
Rusty.
